Advantagesstops unwanted pregnancies

Disadvantagesside effects

"Cerazette is a hormonal contraceptive which is a pat of the progestogen only pill (commonly known as the mini pill). So there for warned you all at the beginning that this WILL mention periods, mucus membranes, vaginitis and more so canít say I didnít tell ya!! ** How it works?** The active ingredient of Cerazette is desogestrel which is a synthetic progestogen that is very similar to the natural progestogen that the body produces. Does what I want, but I seem to be in the minority

Advantagesno periods, prevents pregnancy, safer than some , rarely affected by antibiotics

Disadvantagesfrequent side effects, risks of cancer, irregular/random periods

"Cerazette is a mini pill, meaning it is progestogen only, and it works in three ways: Firstly, it prevents the release of an egg from the ovaries. Secondly, it thickens the mucus at the neck of the womb, making it harder for the sperm to enter. And thirdly, it changes the quality of the womb lining to prevent a fertilised egg implanting in the lining. - - - I was previously on microgynon-30, and had been for about 2 and a half years when I began ..." Contrception that did not work for me

AdvantagesWork well for some

DisadvantagesI fell pregnant

"How do they work? The mini pill is a form of contraception that works in 3 ways it increases the natural mucus on the neck of the womb making it more difficult for sperm to break through and this meaning it is less likely for fertilisation to take place. It also works to prevent ovulation and to decrease quality of the womb lining so preventing any fertilised eggs to attach o the womb meaning no pregnancy. To begin taking the pill ..." Read review

Causes Hormonal Imbalance!

AdvantagesYou can take the pill with malaria tablets and I didn't get pregnant!!

DisadvantagesShall I start with the mood swings or with the constant bleeding?

"...other types of medication alongside. Cerazette can be taken by lactating women. ***My Experiences*** I had been taking the mini pill 'microgynon' for years and I was perfectly happy. I didn't want to change! However, my partner and I were going travelling!!! 3 months in South East Asia and China. We planned to travel through Cambodia and consequently a course of nasty malaria tablets was on the cards. But as you may have guessed.... malaria tablets ..." Read review

Cerazette is it worth it?

AdvantagesYou can take it very soon after having a child and if you've got high blood pressure

DisadvantagesIrregular bleeding (only light though)

"...a lot of other mini-pills Cerazette offers you 12 hours to take your pill if you forget to take it on time. So, if for example I always take my pill at 8 oclock in the morning but forget, I am still protected as long as I take my pill by 8 oclock in the evening. This 12 hour window is something that is uncommon to a lot of other mini-pills which often offer 3 hours. If however you do not manage to take your missed pill within 12 hours of your usual ..." A mini-pill

AdvantagesEasy to take, works for me

DisadvantagesNone for me

"...of years I have taken Cerazette on advice from my doctor. Quite a few years ago now I had a DVT (blood clot) in my right leg and even though I am not predisposed to having anymore I still cannot take a combined pill anymore (that is a pill that contains both oestrogen and progestogen) as it increased the risk of blood clots so I have to take a mini pill.† Cerazette is a progestogen-only pill, POP or mini-pill which doesn't contain an oestrogen as ..." Cerazette - Hit and Miss

Advantages12 hour window, Lowered blood pressure, No period pains

DisadvantagesIrregular Periods, Skin Changes

"...ways. I was put onto cerazette 9 months ago after getting high blood pressure when I went onto a combined pill (marvelon), which is a common reason for women to be put onto progesterone-only pills. When I was told I was over the moon, my close friend has been on the pill for a number of years and has never had a period! Unfortunately this hasn't been the case for me. My periods have been irregular and I have often had 2 in a month. I have been ..." Read review

Answer to my contraceptive prayers

Advantages12 hour missed pill wndow, beneficial for those sensitive to estrogen

Disadvantagessome irregular bleeding

"...body to return to normal. TAKING CERAZETTE After a year of giving up on oral contraception I read about Cerazette and went straight to my doctor to request it. The doctor agreed that it was likely that I am sensitive to high levels of estrogen and that Cerazette, a progestogen only pill (POP) may be very effective and more successful than my experiences of combined pills. Another benefit is that famous 12 hour missed pill window. Unlike combinds ..." Read review

Three months of mild misery

AdvantagesSuitable for women who can't take oestrogen; 12-hour window; may help PMS

DisadvantagesBushels of side-effects, irregular bleeding

"...that I was not on Cerazette for contraception; I already have a copper IUD in place for that. My gynaecologist prescribed Cerazette as a treatment for PMS, and I was on it for just under 3 months. It is possible that the side-effects would have improved if I'd kept on it after that, but since they were still pretty dreadful and my PMS wasn't much better, there was no point in staying on it. Cerazette is a third-generation progestogen-only pill ..." Read review

Only 3 weeks and handful of side effects!

Advantagesnone

Disadvantagestoo many to fill in this little box

"...the pill and was recommended Cerazette (POP). After only 3 weeks I have had terrible side effects which I thought was just a coincidence but after reading the reviews in my opinion I think it's because of Cerazette. I started Cerazette on the first day of my period. On the second day I woke up to the heaviest period I have ever had - and when I say heavy, I mean heavy!! I called the dr as I was so worried. I was bleeding like a cut rather then a ..." Read review

cerazette - amazing!

Advantages12 hour window, no periods

Disadvantagesmini pillss are not as effective as the pill

"...take estrogen. Since i started cerazette i have not had any 'proper' periods. I have had some light, completely pain-free bleeding, two or three times in the 18 months that i have been taking the pill which have lasted around 24 hours each. For me, this is an incredibly good thing - however, i must admit that i do worry that this could be damaging to my body in the long term, although my doctor assures me that it wont. My other worry with taking ..." Read review

Cerezette - Don't be too worried by the bad press!!

Advantagesno periods, no side effects for me, taken each day, 99% effective if taken correcly

Disadvantagesno periods - no reassurance that you're not pregnant, side effects for some people

"Cerezette is one of the 'mini pills' on offer for those who want to take oral contraceptives. They do not contain any oestrogen, which gives the the acronym POP or Progestogen Only Pill. The POP creates a mucus plug at the entrance to the uterus, which is claimed to be 98% effective at keeping sperm from reaching, and fertilising an egg. The uterus lining is also made thinner, so that if sperm did reach and fertilise an egg, the egg would find it ..." Read review

Cerazette: The pill from hell!

AdvantagesNone.

DisadvantagesSooo many side effects!

"I have tried pretty much every pill available in the past 22yrs for hormone problems and contraception. None of them have suited me so I'm guessing hromone pills are just not for me. I gave this newer mini pill a go as it's not one I've tried before and this was my last chance at a finding one. I have been on this progesterone only pill for just over 6 weeks and what a nightmare ride it has been. I started taking it the first day of my period. ..." Read review

Cerazette - effective but highly inconvenient!

Advantages12 hour window, less serious side effects compared to combined pill, no babies!

DisadvantagesCompletely random bleeding and unpredictability in my case (not to mention possible side effects)

"...you know the basics about Cerazette from the other reviews and will jump straight in with my experience. For the first month or so of taking it (I never missed a pill at all btw) I had headaches. They varied from minor annoyances to quite severe but were easy to counteract by taking a paracetamol and getting some sleep. Aside from this I had no other side effects. However, this is my personal experience and everyone is different - there are plenty ..." Read review

8 years on cerazette

AdvantagesNo periods for 8 years (fantasic!)

DisadvantagesDepression, 4 stones weight gain, mood swings, greasy hair, tiredness, zero libido.

"...to my new lifestyle not cerazette so I kept on taking it. (strangely now that doctors just give the pill out they don't even want to check my blood pressure!) So the years rolled by and I learned to live with my new depressive, mood swinging and 4 stone heavier self. I graduated from university and moved in with my fiance (who surprising enough stuck with me throughout!) We both got jobs and settled into a 'normal' lifestyle. The lifestyle related ..."
