life destroying - not worth 1 star

Advantagesnone whatsoever

Disadvantagessuicide in pill form

"I've been on this for 8 weeks as I had to change due to my age and being a smoker. I can't express enough how utterly depressed I've felt on it: dark thoughts, extreme anxiety, irrational and erratic urges - totally depressed and I have NEVER, EVER previously described myself as feeling depressed. It has been a slow realisation that it's my new pill, but nothing else in my life has changed - no more ups and downs than before I've taken it. My husband ..." Read review

Not so good in some cases of Endometriosis

Advantagesworks in some cases

Disadvantagesnot for bleeding, not for endometriosis

"I used Cerazette in 2012, prescribed by my doctor. I had a minor bleeding that didn't stop caused by endometriosis and an ovarian cyst of 4.5 cm. The doctor told me that Cerazette is for endometriosis and I should take the pills continously, without a stop. I did that, I took a pill every morning but after three weeks the bleeding returned. I was in vacation so I couldn't do anything but to take some pain killers and to eat well. So I stayed with ..." Read review

Cerazette made a dragon of me!

AdvantagesNo pregnancy or periods

DisadvantagesHorrendously vulgar moods and skin

"I've tried Cerazette for a month twice this year and it's just been horrendous for me! So many side effects and nothing really positive to say for it other than no periods! I was on Ovysmen for 5 years previously but I was taken off because they don't like you using it for a long time and I'd ballooned to nearly 17st (let's just say my appetite was a little TOO healthy!). When I went to the GP in February he refused to let me take Ovysmen anymore ..." Read review

Works as a contraceptive because you never want sex!!!

AdvantagesIt has a 12 hour window

DisadvantagesMood swings, greasy hair and skin, spots, no sex drive at all!

"I went on cerazette because I cannot take the combined pill due to migranes, ditto the injection and implant... I tried mirena coil which was ok but made me spotty and did not help my periods unlike many women. So I was offered cerazette and thought a mini pill with a 12 hour window sounded great! Oh my days I was wrong!!! I had irregular periods to begin with and developed acne, but I thought I'd give it 6 months to see if I settled. I didn't, I ..." Read review

So far - fantastic!!!

AdvantagesNo periods

DisadvantagesSkin a bit more greasy

"So far i have only got good things to say about Cerazette! I'm 24 and have been taking it for 8 months now. I began taking the combined pill (Dianette) when i was 15 as i had very bad acne and this cured my acne fantastically!! (I would recommend it to any teenager struggling with acne as i have discovered many of my friends used the pill to clear acne also) Unfortunately after 5 and a half years my doctor told me i had to change and stop taking ..." Does what I want, but I seem to be in the minority

Advantagesno periods, prevents pregnancy, safer than some , rarely affected by antibiotics

Disadvantagesfrequent side effects, risks of cancer, irregular/random periods

"Cerazette is a mini pill, meaning it is progestogen only, and it works in three ways: Firstly, it prevents the release of an egg from the ovaries. Secondly, it thickens the mucus at the neck of the womb, making it harder for the sperm to enter. And thirdly, it changes the quality of the womb lining to prevent a fertilised egg implanting in the lining. - - - I was previously on microgynon-30, and had been for about 2 and a half years when I began ..." AdvantagesStops Pregnancy - for a number of reasons!

DisadvantagesAwful mood swings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"...crazy. I was put on Cerazette after taking Femodene for 14 years (long story) and took it for six months.I read the reviews when i was given the pills and was a bit alarmed at the horrible reviews but thought 'nah, i'll be fine, it can't be that bad'! From two weeks in the bleeding started and it was constant from light to brown to red to a light period. After three months i went back to the docs and and told her what was happening and also mentioned ..." Read review

Contrception that did not work for me

AdvantagesWork well for some

DisadvantagesI fell pregnant

"How do they work? The mini pill is a form of contraception that works in 3 ways it increases the natural mucus on the neck of the womb making it more difficult for sperm to break through and this meaning it is less likely for fertilisation to take place. It also works to prevent ovulation and to decrease quality of the womb lining so preventing any fertilised eggs to attach o the womb meaning no pregnancy. To begin taking the pill ..." Read review

A mini-pill

AdvantagesEasy to take, works for me

DisadvantagesNone for me

"...of years I have taken Cerazette on advice from my doctor. Quite a few years ago now I had a DVT (blood clot) in my right leg and even though I am not predisposed to having anymore I still cannot take a combined pill anymore (that is a pill that contains both oestrogen and progestogen) as it increased the risk of blood clots so I have to take a mini pill.  Cerazette is a progestogen-only pill, POP or mini-pill which doesn't contain an oestrogen as ..." Hell in a pill.

AdvantagesNo periods in some people. Better for blood pressure than most pills.

DisadvantagesSEVERE depression and mood swings. Weight gain. Tiredness. Stomach bloating. Migraines.

"This was the worst pill I've ever been on in my life, and I've tried quite a few. This was my last option after having migraines and high-blood pressure in the past. The first few months were fine for me, I was happy and had no periods at all. Put a little weight on but didn't really mind that. Then it all kicked in after around 7 months. I was un-naturally moody, cried and got angry at my boyfriend and mother for absolutely no reason. I was ..." Read review

Cerazette mimicked a miserable early pregnancy

Advantages12 hour window

Disadvantagesearly pregnancy symptoms (swollen breasts, nausea, vomiting, mood swings, etc), bleeding

"After riding through initial bouts of nearly perpetual bleeding, I thought that I had finally made it when it finally stopped 3 months into treatment. However, that's when my body decided that it must really be pregnant. Cue full blown pregnancy symptoms (I got a blood test done to make absolutely certain that I wasn't pregnant). My breasts went up a cup size and felt as though they had been repeatedly slammed in a door. My nipples were so sensitive ..." Read review
