If you love quiz shows then this is the channel for you. This channel features some of the best quiz shows ever invented. This channel has almost the same quizzes on everyday. Which can become a tad bit boring. There are certain shows I don't mind watching regularly. The recent line up includes. The Krypton Factor. This is one of my favourites. This quiz show used to be on years ago. This is no ordinary quiz though. The contestants had to be able to answer general knowledge questions solve gruelling puzzles and at the end, they had to complete a gruelling assault course. Gladiators. Most ... more

    Advantages Advantages very entertaining

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

There was just something so magical about the early 1980's on television. I used to sit up for hours at my grans house watching everything from 'Tales of the unexpected' to 'The Hammer House of Horrors', but out of all the Saturday nights viewing there was one program that burnt an image on my mind..... ~~~~~ 3 2 1 ~~~~~ Why was this show such a huge hit? At the time there was nothing else on worth watching to be honest, so millions of us tuned in to watch Ted Rogers and his mate 'Dusty Bin' It became the most watched Game show of its time, showing for a period of 10 years from the late 70's ... more

Advantages Advantages Old game shows, win prizes by phoning up

Disadvantages Disadvantages The presenters, the newer game shows, the bluescreen set

If you like game shows, you'll love this channel. If you like watching repeats of old game shows, such as 3-2-1 and Catchphrase when it was presented by Roy Walker, then you'll never want to leave the house again. Challenge TV has got to be one of the lowest-budget TV channels going. For a start, repeats of game shows can't cost that much to buy. But anyway, as well as watching gameshows, you too have the chance to compete over the phone to win some less than remarkable prizes, but that involves a long and costly call. The presenters, to be honest, are absolutely rubbish. They have all been ... more

Advantages Advantages Good range of programs

Disadvantages Disadvantages repeated quite a bit

Challenge TV is a channel dedicated to re-running gameshows, mainly from ITV. The best of these is definetely, without a doubt, "Beadle's About". This program is so funny. I have seen just about every episode, but i still find them funny the second time round. "Beadle's About" is on at 7:00/7:30pm and 12:00 am every day. Challenge TV also gives homes to other good programs, such as the famous "Family Fortunes", "Gladiators" and "Sale Of The Century". It is a pretty good channel to watch if there is nothing else on TV. ... more

Advantages Advantages Some old shows currently being repeated.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Too many repeats of 'modern' programmes, not enough range.

Challenge TV, as it's name suggests, is a Digital channel devoted solely to TV game shows. Unfortunately, there aren't nearly enough game shows to fill a TV channel, therefore there are far too many repeats on here. Repeats aren't so much of a problem if you haven't seen a particular show for years, but recently I've noticed that the same episodes of shows like Family fortunes are going out twice a week or more. However, there are quite a few old revivals on there. Things like Beadle's About, Blankety Blank and Treasure Hunt to name but three. If those are the kind of shows you enjoy, then ... more

Advantages Advantages They show Takeshi's Castle nightly at 7.30pm

Disadvantages Disadvantages They don't show enough of this programme

If you don't watch Challenge TV (Channel 121 on Sky) then let me tell you about one particular programme that you are missing..... Once upon a night, at about 11.00 pm, I decided to have a quick flick around the Sky channels before heading off to bed for the old zeds when, suddenly, I caught a glimpse of something that resembled a very old show transmitted briefly on Tarrant on TV (I think) a few years ago which, if memory serves me right, was called The Endurance Game. It involved Japanese people putting themselves through torturous challenges, ie. having baths with maggots, and for very ... more

    Advantages Advantages Fun

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Some crap shows

I think Challenge TV is a very entertaining station. They have lots of the old favourite game shows, such as Family Fortunes, Blankety Blank, Gladiators and Beadles About. There are also a few new gameshows such as a late night Japanesse Game Show where contestants are put through disgusting and dangerous challenges. Personally I only watch the old game shows. Blankety Blank and Family Fortunes are particularly good entertainment. Beadles About can be extremley funny, some of the tricks they play on people are wicked. Remember the champion Phil on gladiators? He was on last night, fantastic! A ... more

Advantages Advantages lots of quiz and game shows

Disadvantages Disadvantages repeats, lots of them

OK, so maybe not everybody's idea of fun is sitting watching repeated games shows from ITV and other channels. But I find it really entertaining. Gladiators from years ago, family fortunes, I game I think I could win on my own, Sale of the Century, Whittle, Strike it lucky. All of these programmes on everyday of the week. Fine, so some of them are VERY old, you can tell by the hairstyles and clothes that people wouldn't be seen dead in today. However, despite this I think this is a very entertaining channel for those of us who love Quiz and Games Shows. The only major drawback is that it ... more

    Advantages Advantages good specialist channel

    Disadvantages Disadvantages many repeats

Noel's Telly Addicts was never a great piece of television - it was a cheap quiz show filler for a weekday evening. Now a decade on the same episodes are being repeated in prime time by Challenge TV - must now be an extremely cheap repeated quiz show filler. Challenge TV is the rebranded Family Channel broadcasting an output of quiz and game shows on satellite and cable. Few of the programmes are imports or original British productions. The bulk of the shows are old episodes of BBC or ITV programmes such as Family Fortunes and Blankety Blank. Presumably people watch this and if Challenge have ... more

Challenge TV! It's great! All your life you take the mickey out of game shows, how crappy and tacky they are.. and then when a channel full of game shows all day comes on you are addicted - they suddenly have some sort of novelty, retro attraction. They do! There's something special about watching old Catchphrase episodes (cue shouts of "Riiiiiight!" and "Say what ya seee") and various other shows and reminiscing about how much better the old presenters were. I really enjoy Challenge TV, it's TV viewing that doesn't require much effort, although you can of course choose to 'take part' in the ... more
