4 Stars Experience the Life of a Football Manager Review with images 28/05/2011

Advantages Advantages Fun game, cheap price.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not as good as Football Manager, bugs should have been removed before release.

Having not played a Championship Manager title since Sports Interactive split with Eidos back in 2003 and Sports Interactive went on to form the Football Manager series; going into playing Championship Manager 2010 I really wasn’t sure what to expect. Tempted into purchasing the title due to its £2.51 price tag, the game was always likely to represent fantastic value for money, quite how the game would play however was to me an absolute mystery. Gameplay Starting out a season with Oxford City in the Southern Premier League, what instantly struck me about the game was how bad it made football ... more

Advantages Advantages Simple navigation, excellent 3D match engine, great depth of game, simple to understand

Disadvantages Disadvantages Needs a high spec machine, slow load times, less challenging than other managing games

I have always been a fan of football management games and the first one I experienced was Championship Manager 2 back when I used to play against my best mate but following on from years of step ups there was a sudden drop in the quality of Championship Manager that led to many people (including me) switching to Football Manager but thankfully this game sees the series back on top where it deserves to sit. The game sees you take charge of your favourite team (I recommend you don't start with them on your first try as seeing your team do badly is never nice) and develop your club through a ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to get to grips with , good graphics , great for first timer manager gamers

Disadvantages Disadvantages rigid , boring , all too familiar not for the pros

On the whole this game is quite good and i would give it 3 and half stars could i do so though over all for any seasoned football management game player it is just to easy, after all while you get to know the game too easily, who to sign who to play to win and there is very little room for manoeuvre. The tactical side of it seems to make very little difference and often straying from your basic 4-4-2 formation not matter how good your side is going to bet you beat, after a few campaigns in you may start to get bored. Having played this game for many days myself i more than qualified, I feel to ... more

Advantages Advantages 3D match engine brings some realism.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Too many to list.

A very average football management game that does nothing innovative to make it a must buy. It has your average tactics, scouting and media interaction that frankly, Football Manager was doing about 5 years ago. For an excessive price of £25, for a now outdated game it really isn't worth bothering - get yoursel Football Manager or wait for the new one in just a couple of months. The only part in which the game does excell is the 3D match engine which finally brings a bit of realism to a management game. Although it still looks a bit like table football, the elimant of 3D makes it look more ... more

Advantages Advantages shows highlights in 3D, good graphics and sounds.

Disadvantages Disadvantages need to install updated, slow, crashes

Having previously purchased Championship Manager in the past and then moving onto another football management game I decided to give it another try. I was however quite dissapointed. To start off with I had to download an update for the game which was 2.1GB and took around 20 minutes to download. When this download was complete the game kept crashing on me. After searching the internet for ways to fix the problem I found web page after web page of people with the same problem. Eventually after following a few tips by others that had the same problem I got the game to work. However this was not ... more
