    Right well this has to be the best show ever. I absolutely love Hollyoaks watch it every night and I watch it every Sunday. It has been running now for 11 years, I didn't use to watch it in the early days when it started and probably only watched a few episodes when I wasn't watching anything else. It was first launched in October 1995, and was devised by Phil Redmond (who is also famous for creating Grange Hill and Brookside), although Hollyoaks has to be the best one out of the three.     ***ABOUT HOLLYOAKS*** Hollyoaks is shown on channel 4 on weekdays and the Omnibus which shows the whole week?s episodes are shown on a Sunday. The show/soap is set in Chester and is focused around a large higher education college. In this soap most of the characters are in their teens and early twenties. Hollyoaks was originally devised by Phil Redmond, who has also devised Brookside and Grange Hill.     I can not believe that Hollyoaks has been running for almost 11 years now, particularly as I remember watching it in the early days and honestly did not think it would last this long. It was launched in October 1995 and was devised by Phil Redmond who was famous for creating Grange Hill and Brookside.     Hollyoaks is theoretically a teen soap. However, I am 30 and I still enjoy watching it! (It’s particularly good watching the omnibus on a Sunday morning while I’m cooking Sunday dinner!) Set in Chester, it is based around students at Hollyoaks community college and various other characters in the local community. Here follows my list of current characters.     Advantages Advantages Some good story lines, good actors/actresses

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Some of the actors/actresses aren't 'real' enough... read my op!

    Hollyoaks is one of those 'soaps' that people seem to think are soley designed for teenagers. And, to an extent they'd be right! However, although the majority of the story-lines are based around love, sex, drink and drugs [which, lets face it, most soaps are!] the Hollyoaks actors/actresses, their producers, directers, etc, all do an excellent job at making this soap worth watching. Like I said a moment ago, most soaps do revolve around sex, drugs, affairs all with the occasional murder/death thrown in for good measure.     This programme has to be the best soap ever to hit the British Screen. I have never missed an episode of this soap and have also found myself watching the late night adults version called "Moving on". Hollyoaks when it first started was based around the Hollyoaks Community college where all the cast once went. This soap is based upon the lives of students and how we percieve student life to be, ~sex, drugs and rock and roll~ is certainly a big feature in this programme. one of the first ever major story lines dealt with a character called Natasha who died of a drugs overdose. not only drugs ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages can be hard remembering who loves who!

    Hollyoaks is often seen as a teenage soap with poor acting but over the last few years opinions have changed as the show has received more nominations and wins at the national soap awards and many other countless ceremonies. Hollyoaks is based in Chester and follows the lives of those that live in Hollyoaks village. The soap is on channel 4 at 6.30pm on weekdays and there is an omnibus on sunday mornings, times for this vary.     Disadvantages Disadvantages only three episodes a week

    Hollyoaks has been around for quite some time now, but it is only recently that I know people have begun to get into it. Characters have come and gone, then in some cases come back again, only to go. (Rob Hawthorne) The reason I am writing this opinion is mainly because I think the show deserves to get some recognition, and if it’s going to start from a teenager writing a review on an internet site, then so be it.     Advantages Advantages Great storylines, great looking characters, plenty of variety

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Some of the storylines are totally unrealistic

    After writing about Coronation Street it made me think about a Soap I have watched from the moment it hit our screens and only one soap can be honoured with that and that is Hollyoaks and I have now managed to get my husband sucked in as well! Hollyoaks airs every weeknight at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and the following nights episode can be viewed over on E4 at 7pm. *~*How it all began*~* When I read that a new soap was going to hit Channel 4 and it was being filmed in and around Chester, as I only lived down the road I knew I would have to watch it and see how own heritage town was being presented ... more

    As I write this opinion on this early Sunday morning I am watching the omnibus of 'Hollyoaks' Now I NEVER used to watch Hollyoaks, it looked BORING and I already watched LOADS of soaps, another program would just make me a TV addict!
