Advantages: Cracking morning telly Disadvantages: Missing it
When Hubby first watched this new show my first thought was ‘Oh great, another one of those crappy current affairs type programmes that think they’ve got their finger on the pulse of the news’, well I was spot on, apart from the crappy bit that is. I admit that I had never heard of Matthew Wright, Kate Silverton or James O’Brien, but for the past few months they have all been welcome visitors in my living room every morning. ... ...who don’t pander to what the public want to hear all the time, have opinions of their own and are not worried if they differ from the norm. Two topics from the world news are chosen every week day morning, and between the three of them, the audience and the viewers it is dissected and discussed in a non- patronising and adult way. Matthew, Kate and James each put across different opinions and ideas showing that they are intelligent as well ...

Advantages: Interesting, Entertaining and Thought Provoking Disadvantages: Some of the Celebrity Guests can be annoying
I have been watching The Wright Stuff for about a year now. It is on Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 10:30am on Five and it is repeated on Five Life on the same day from 11:00am - 12:30am.
----------
The Show
----------
The Wright Stuff is a current issues review show and is a usually lighthearted look at topics that are currently making the news. Advantages: Great spread of opinions, up to date Disadvantages: N/A
...every morning; it is on Channel 5 from 9:45 am to 10:45 am and is extremely interesting and thought-provoking, in my opinion. It is without a doubt one of the best discussion shows I have ever seen on the television. Basically every day they have a main topic to address, usually something that has made or is making the headlines that day, also with a brief look at some other news issues of the day and also another more minor topic to talk about for ... ...I love the subtlety of Channel 5!). There is also an audience of regulars which includes a lot of "characters", expecially a bloke called Kenny (you really need to look out for this guy) and Jackie, who offers her opinion whilst canvassing the "Wright bunch" audience as they are known.
The panel as a whole are very good, especially James O'Brien, who is very knowledgeable and is absolutely excellent at arguing most cases. The range of opinions is ...

Advantages: great topical debates Disadvantages: Matthew Wright
...early morning chat show on channel 5 (and fiver) and is usually hosted by Matthew Wright (as in the title) but when he is on one of his many holidays there is a guest host which sits in his seat to take control of the panel…
It is shot in front of a studio audience with live phone-ins and e-mail communications from the general public.
The panel consists of three well known people, changing every so often, including Gail porter, Carol Thatcher, ... ...reach other heights… maybe even channel four may be interested…(LOL).. But whilst this joker is hosting the show I do feel that it will always be an early morning time filler… a professional host should be more impartial and not be so rude, especially to the general public who watch his show….
But don't take my word for it, watch it yourself and make up your own mind about the show and the host… ...

Advantages: Opportunity to express opinion Disadvantages: a narrow croos section of the public on the panel
...broadcast each weekday morning on Channel 5 in which the big news topic of the day is discussed and viewers have the opportunity to phone-in and offer their views. As everyone who contributes to Ciao probably agrees with the concept of having an opinion and sharing it with others this is obviously a laudable concept. The problem I have with it is the people who present it.
On the whole Matthew Wright is a very capable journalist but is prone to ... ...middle-class and under 30. As Channel 5 programmes go The Wright Stuff is well above average though this is not necessarily saying much. The programme is worthy of retention within the schedule but with a change to the composition of the panel. Then perhaps it can be a little more balanced and representative of wider public opinion. ...

...the new discussion programme on Channel 5, The Wright Stuff. Yes, I hear you cry, it's hsoted by none only that Matthew Wright, fresh from the office of the Mirror newspapaer where he had his column of the same name.
The TV programme throws differnet topics of discussion at the audience and viewers at home, and asks them to give their opinion on the matter. Topics such as "Should the fuel blockades end?" and "Should the siamese twins be seperated" ...

Review of Channel 5 - The Wright Stuff
Advantages: Free with the licence Disadvantages: have I seen it all before
*** THE PROGRAMME ***
The Wright Stuff presented by Matthew Wright in the morning at various times about 9.00 am on C5 for approximately 1 hour. Mr Wright sits at a desk and 3 or 4 regular guests sit opposite along another and discuss topical news items, these guests change regularly examples include Lowry, Julia Bradbury (on time co - presenter of C5s now defunct Exclusive). Often viewers phone in and are invited to comment or question the guests ... ...***
With all due respect to Matthew Wright the programme is rather low grade, which is probably reflected in its morning broadcast time, I’d almost certainly describe it as filler. The items for discussion are very topical and often covered by the tabloids in that week. The commentators tend to be rather like caricatures presenting extreme opinion on the subject. A little too overt for my liking. The programme is obviously popular it would not have ...
