Chappie, A Dog's Best Friend

Advantages: Cheap, Easy To Digest
Disadvantages: The Smell, Lack of Variety

...due to the fact that Chappie was easily digestible and contained everything Dexter would need for a healthy, balanced diet and hopefully, Chappie would put a stop to the digestive problems Dexter was experiencing. Always one to give something new a try, we went to Sainsbury's and bought a 6 pack of Chappie. The 6 pack had two flavours, Chicken & Rice (x4) and Original (x2). The cost was £2.29 for the pack, which we felt was cheap for 6 cans of dog ...
...you know the brand is Chappie from the bold white letters on the cans and plastic wrapper holding the 6 pack. As my doggy has been quite sensitive, I examined the Chappie original closely. It states on the can, it is trust by vets, well I can agree with his, our vet trusts it. It also claims to be a trust recipe. I'm not sure what I had in mind when I read that this was an 'original' recipe, I had in mind, maybe something like beef but Chappie Original ...

It's In The Bag

Advantages: Cheap, easy to feed, good availability.
Disadvantages: May not suit dogs with special illness's

Chappie Complete Original. I buy this food as it's relatively low in fat compared to other dried foods. It's also easily digestible (this was fed a lot in the kennels I worked out especially dogs that had funny tummy's). My dogs love it and I feed it dry although it can be fed moistened with warm water or gravy. I feed mine dry as its better for their teeth. I have Border Collies and feed mine 10 ozs a day split into 2 feeds which for ease equates ...

Advantages: cheap and good for dogs
Disadvantages: smelly smelly smelly

...people actually told me about chappie and even vets recommend it. They say its one of the best foods for older dogs and those with digestive problems, perfect so I bought some. The product: Well it contains a variety of ingredients including wholegrain maize, starch and fibre to aid digestion, a source of protein and a blend of polyunsaturated fatty acids again for digestion. The product is low in fat and contains fish (that’s the smell!), cereal ...
...key ingredients to help doggie’s digestion and general well being. It’s made by master foods in Melton Mowbray and can be found in most supermarkets and pet shops. Its available in dry or wet and two flavours chicken and rice or original. The good thing about this product is it’s cheap! And I mean cheap. I paid 62p for an 825g tin, I nearly fell over in the co-op. I just hope jack likes it!? Well he did like it, eventually, it took a couple of ...

Wonder dog food

Advantages: Not expensive
Disadvantages: Smell

I got my dog 5 years ago as a puppy. She is a mongrel with a bit of black labrador in her but god knows what else!!! I was feeding her dried dog food but this just wasnt practical as we found she was drinking alot more water than normal and this obviously led to a lot more toilet accidents when we were out. As both me and my husband work (although he is a shift worker so us home part of the day) we decided to try canned dog food. We were buying ...
...with her and things were fine. That was until they stopped making that particular kind and size of tin. All i could purchase from the Ceaser range was little pallets of dog food which did not agree with her at all. We then tried Pedigree Chum, Butchers Tripe, and Pal all to no avail and she was still having the doggie trots which couldnt have been much doing her much good. It was on a visit to the vets when she was getting her nails clipped that ...

TRIED AND TESTED......THE BEST!

Advantages: CHEAP, NO GLITZY ADVERTS OR PACKAGING
Disadvantages: bit smelly.....thats all

...old beardie has been on chappie tin/dry for about year and a half now. Prior to this I did try him on nearly every dog food on the market, mainly because he was such a fussy eater and food would remain untouched for day and night, despite inordinate amounts of exercise, hill walking, swimming, pack running.! Anyho, loose poo was a daily problem, when I mentioned eating prob on a visit to vet, they were not at all concerned and said he was a "hugh ...
...a bit of research and chappie kept coming up as one recommended for dicky tummies so gave it a try. It did take a bit of getting used to for both dog and myself? Mainly smell! He still eats small amounts but has never had loose smelly poos since being on chappie. Also his skin condition has improved. He was frequently getting skin cysts. One actually abcessed a couple of years ago on his shoulder but, touchwood, he has had no recurrances of skin ...

What a smell

Advantages: Very cheap
Disadvantages: The smell

Chappie is a cheap and cheerful way to feed you dog and is recommended for terriors and what I call Heinz 57 dogs. My vets have all said that it is the best thing to feed my Jack Russell, I just can't stand the smell. It comes in 2 flavours, and they both smell of fish which is one of the main ingredients. You certainly would not want to feed your dog whilst you were eating. The range could do with more flavours as I would not like to spend the ...

cheap but very cheerful

Advantages: cheap and easily digestable
Disadvantages: boy does it smell!

Chappie is not the cheapest dog food on the market but its price is much lower than other more famous brands! I tend to distrust some of the very cheap petfoods in favour of the better known brands but my vet recommended this one for my dog! Chappie is very easily digested! Deef (my dog) has a stomach problem! When he eats human food he is strangely fine. Well, except for one time when he stole a bit of pineapple - that even he couldn't digest! ...
...and canned foods! With chappie he is fine. No matter with what mixer he is fine with this brand! So he gets fed chappie every day and loves it! There are two "flavours" regular and fish but both smell the same... bloody awful! I recommend this product to any one who has a dog (naturally) but specifically for those with fussy tendancies or delicate appetites. You'll find this brand cheaper than mnay others and your dog will almost certainly not ...

Chappie good or bad?

Advantages: Good for Tummies
Disadvantages: Smells and found rubber in it!

Chappie is well known and used within the dog industry. It is very good due to its content being fish cereal and chicken (in the fish chappie). Some dogs including 1 of mine, get very hyper after eating red meat and there arnt any packs of chicken puppy food available, therefore i buy chappie so it is easy on the tummy. However the smell is horendous and it does make you dog have bad breath. Also i recently found a piece of rubber in a tin! i rang ...
...could have seriuosly damaged my dogs. The response i got was we're very sorry, we have looked into it and here is a voucher for £5!!!! So i am determined to find a better dog food than this. If your dog has sensitive tummy problems there is special tinned food available for that in a white tin. ...
