Is This Advertising Ethical
Review of Charities - NSPCC [TV Advertisement] by leahslad

Advantages: Raises money for an excellent cause
Disadvantages: Unethical? Bad timing prior to watershed

I'm a firm supporter of the NSPCC, please dont get me wrong but I have got to speak up about the recent advertising campaigns they have been putting out on our TV's, especially one I saw at prime time - with child viewers still watching! THE CHARITY: Before going into detail about the adverts, I feel it important that I first provide you with some basic information about the charity itself. The NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty ... Read review

NSPCC, Would you donate
Review of Charities - NSPCC [TV Advertisement] by robsgirl

Advantages: Suoerb charity that does some superb work for chldren
Disadvantages: Powerful adverts - but morally acceptable?

...It's one of Britains leading charities and uses the money it recieves to help something close to almost every humans heart - children. Through their work they have made a real name for themselves, and people know instantly what their abreviated symbols mean (if anyone doesnt its the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children - NSPCC). Recently they have seen a drop in takings though, mainly due to the drop in donations to charities ... Read review

Christmas appeal
Review of Charities - NSPCC [TV Advertisement] by sue

Advantages: none
Disadvantages: too painfdul to watch

I find the christmas appeal that has been on in a variation for many years now very hard to watch and does not inspire me to give money to the NSPCC ever. I think that they have forgotten that there are many people out there who were in violent relationships and have got out. They are now leading a happy life with their children and want to enjoy Christmas. When I see the advert all the pain and hurt I felt at that time is brought back. Christmas ... Read review

But for the grace of God.....
Review of Charities - NSPCC [TV Advertisement] by anguk

Advantages: makes the point, affects viewers
Disadvantages: the fact that the NSPCC exists at all

You can't fail to be affected by this hard-hitting advert from the NSPCC and hopefully it will encourage more people to dig deep into their pockets. The very first time I saw this advert I was in tears and I still now get a lump in my throat. The small child who doesn't cry because he's learnt that nobody comes anyway, the little boy who doesn't talk to his parents because his abuser has told him that he'll kill him, very blunt and to the point ... YOU can do something
Review of Charities - NSPCC [TV Advertisement] by Lizzii

Advantages: Putting an end to child abuse
Disadvantages: None - only thinking that you can't help

What would happen if it was a child that YOU knew who had been abused? You would want to help them in anyway that you could...but what about the kids that you don't know? For anybody to watch the NSPCC and and not have some sort of emotional reaction is almost impossible, and that is was makes them so clever. The reality of these ads is spot on, abuse of any sort devastates lives, not just that of the abused but also those of their families and ... Read review

Hardhitting
Review of Charities - NSPCC [TV Advertisement] by Jayne9092

Advantages: makes the viewer aware of problems
Disadvantages: hard hitting

We've all seen the adverts, of crying babies, the poignant black and white photography which seems to emphasise their cause. I'm not saying it's not a good cause, because it is. However, after watching the first few, I find I now have to switch over channels when I know one of the NSPCC's adverts are coming on. I know it's selfish, and I would urge all those who can, to donate what they can. I've worked for many years as a Legal Executive, and taking ... Read review

It breaks my heart but it's a good cause
Review of Charities - NSPCC [TV Advertisement] by BAILEY

Advantages: The NSPCC do a fabulous job
Disadvantages: NONE

The recent NSPCC adverts which show young children who have been or are being abused by parents or relatives is very hard-hitting. It makes you realise that these children, born innocently into this situation, could be living next door to you. I hate having to watch them, but if that is the only way to get people in this country to help stop child abuse, then so be it. I regaularly donate money to the NSPCC, having been a victim of abuse myself, but ... Read review

Please donate just 2 a month
Review of Charities - NSPCC [TV Advertisement] by Nat_y2k

Advantages: You'll be helping deprived and beaten children.
Disadvantages:

This advert for the NSPCC appeals to all, no matter your age, race or religion. We are told true stories of children who live in a home full of domestic violence, of children who just want to be heard. The children can not help themselves and they need oridinary prople, like yourself, to donate just 2 pounds a month (only 24 pounds per year). This can help relocate children from abusive families, help build better childrens homes for children whise ... Read review

Good job
Review of Charities - NSPCC [TV Advertisement] by MikeWoods

Advantages: Hard hitting, effective
Disadvantages: none

When I first was this advert I thought that it was perhaps the advert that worked the best on me out of all the ones I have seen in my 19 years. It does a good job at telling the facts and giving hypothetical situations which are beliebvable and terrible at the same time meaning that most people will find it hard not to donate a bit of money. Some people might take offence at the advert as it uses shock tactics to convince you of the course but I ... Read review
