Advantages Advantages Quick and easy to make

Disadvantages Disadvantages The thought of bread soaked in milk

Here's a couple more recipes from my old school book - I'm not quiet sure why were there as I have an allergy to dairy products and the thought of bread soaked in milk………… well, what do you think? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Cheese Soup 2 oz. of butter 2 medium sized onions, chopped 2 tablespoons of flour 4 fl. oz. of chicken stock 1 ½ pints of milk 12 oz. of cheddar cheese grated 3 oz. Gruyere cheese, grated ½ teaspoon of mustard ½ teaspoon of salt ¼ teaspoon of pepper 11/2 teaspoons of paprika 1 teaspoon of Worcester sauce In a large heavy saucepan, melt the butter over a moderate heat ... more

5 Stars Cheese to Please! Review with images 07/02/2008

Advantages Advantages Tasty, easy to make recipes using cheese!

Disadvantages Disadvantages If you hate cheese you're stuffed!

Cheese & Leek Cakes. This is a very tasty and easy to make dish which works well as a vegetarian starter or as part of a main meal. The white stilton with apricots is a good cheese to use because the sweetness of the apricots gives an interesting taste - the crumbly texture of the cheese also goes well too. You can try it with other varieties of cheese if you like, but this is MY favourite! I get my stilton locally from my cheese shop, or direct from the Hartington Cheese shop because they make the most amazing stilton! ~~~WHAT YOU NEED. 450g (1lb) potatoes, peeled and diced 15g (1/2oz) butter ... more

Feta Feast Feta cheese is usually thought as an ingredient for salads, but it's also delicious in hot dishes. Here are a few of my favourite recipes to eat warm. They're all low budget, fairly easy to prepare (though the tarts are not especially quick to make) and suitable for vegetarians. ~.~.~ TOMATOES STUFFED WITH FETA ~.~.~ Ingredients: 2 large tomatoes 100g of feta 3 tablespoons of breadcrumbs 1 medium onion, finely chopped 1 tablespoon of parsley (fresh if possible, but I use dried one) 2 tablespoons of olive oil Instructions: 1. Cut the top of the tomatoes and scoop out the pulp, being ... more

Oh, and please bring lots of your cheese straws....Every time I get an invite to a party or special occasion that's always added. Since the age of about 10 I have been famous for my cheese straws. So I've decided to share. Firstly I cannot take credit for the recipe. At the tender age of eleven my mum won a book at school. Being the late 50's typically the book was all about the kitchen and explains everything from how to wash up in the correct order to making that important pot of tea. (I never realised you had to warm your tea pot up!) Anyway, I found the book very fascinating, even learnt a ... more

Now a staple part in an Italian's diet is cheese! Cheese is nearly always found somewhere in a dish and always served after a meal (or it is in my family!!). Cheese is just as important as meat and plays a vital role throughout the regions of Italy. The dish/ recipe I will be reviewing is also a vegetarian dish which is great and the main base of the dish is polenta. Polenta is made from boiled cornmeal and is incredibly popular throughout Europe. You can cook polenta in many ways and can vary from region to country. Ingredients:- Polenta:- 7 cups water 1 tablespoon salt 1-2/3 cups coarse ... more

WHY RACLETTE? Well, as an incorrigible cheese fetishist, I would be extremely hard-pressed to nominate any variety as an absolute favourite. However, with wintry evenings drawing in, Raclette really does come into its own. Furthermore, since both of my local supermarkets suddenly ceased to stock it recently (to my horror!!) I felt it incumbent upon me to do what little I can to raise its profile on these shores! BACKGROUND: Raclette has a long tradition in both Switzerland and France, its name deriving from the French word "racler" meaning "to scrape." The cheese was first produced in the ... more

This is my dad's favorite recipe, he loves cheese and when I was still at home I was always trying to cook different things for my dad. Mum and my little brother Neil don't like to try new food. But myself and dad love to try new food. This is a bit different and would be good for a special occasion. I will get started then. Ingredients 1 whole camembert (100-150 grams) 1 egg beaten 60 grams dried breadcrumbs 100 grams apricot jam half the juice of a lemon vegetable oil for deep frying pinch of salt and pepper (optional) Let's get started 1) Cut cheese into equal sections about 4. Most people will know how to make Macaroni and I thought I did too till I met someone recently. Trying to impress (obviously) I offered to cook them their favourite dish. So here is Macaroni with a twist...........this one is definetly for cheese lovers. Ingredients:- (serves 3-4) 400g macaroni pasta 1 large white onion (do not use the red onions as it doesn't taste as nice) 4 large red tomatoes sliced (for the topping) for the sauce:- 300-400g of grated Red Cheddar (I used Scottish cheddar, using red cheddar gives it a nice colour) 50g of butter 50-75g of plain flour 400ml of Semi-skimmed or ... more
