...a friend recommended the frozen Chicago Town Pizzas and then said that he actually cooked them in the microwave I was not convinced that they would be edible, but I decided to give them a try.
I usually go for the cheese and tomato variety with pineapple and/or sweetcorn, but this time I decided to try the Pepperoni variety for a change. They came in a box containing 2 x 170g pizzas costing £1.78. The other flavours available in this range and size ... ...and Pineapple and BBQ Chicken.
The Pepperoni variety contains decent pieces of Pepperoni – bet you’d never have guessed that then would you? – and a spicy tomato sauce, which is just spicy enough to compliment the other flavours.
These pizzas can be cooked in a conventional oven, which takes about 20 minutes or they can be cooked in the microwave, which is the way that I did it.
The pizza itself is about five inches in diameter and is the deep-dish ...

They are brilliant served with a nice crisp salad or with a jacket spud or even chips. They are also quite filling as well although, if you are a total hogg like a certain 6ft 5 bloke that was born in the year 1976 and who’s name starts with D, I could mention, then you could easily polish off a whole box ...

...I picked up this Chicago Town Deep Pan Pepperoni pizza from Sainsbury as they were having a two for one deal and it meant I could also get a plain cheese one for any surprise guests. Normally I prefer thin to deep pan but these were the only ones on sale and at £2.99 for one were a bit pricey and I would not have bought them at that price however with the deal £1.50 is a bit more reasonable.
Packaging
Solid cardboard box package with the logo on ... ...far so good as there was plenty of filling on top. The back of the box had some marketing blurb with half the box given over to nutritional information informing you that if you eat half the pizza you are consuming 592 calories (32 minutes on the cross trainer at the gym) and 7.6g of saturated fat and the more worrying 1g of sodium.
The Product
Once out of the packet I had my first disappointment. There was a large amount of topping which was good ...

Now I've got a really fancy oven. When a product says that it requires 25-30 minutes I split the difference and set it for 27 minutes. So far this has worked fine. So that is precisely what I did for the pizza. 27 minutes later when I went to take the pizza out of the oven I found it was burnt. Not inedible but definitely on the burnt side. ...

There's only one freak of a person I know who doesn't like pizzas- I honestly can't think on a single reason why not. I mean, yummy, fatty, million calorie bits of cheese, sure, it's dripping in grease but oh-so-delicious, if a bit sickly. Then there's the yummy partially cooked doughy bread. What's not to like?

You get 2 pizzas in a box, not full sized pizzas- about the size of a side plate. This means that not only can you eat them for a snack, but also for a main meal (but unless on a diet, chips are extremely recommended to go with it!) I've had one 2 days this week at 4 o'clock, then still had room for my dinner at 5:30. The actual pizza is very tasty. It's quite deep, about an inch I think. The ...

...of the 21st century! Chicago town really put there research and development team into overdrive team into overdrive for this.
The pizza sits in a square cardboard tray, but with a few tactical folds and ingenious perforations, you have a heat reflective, pizza holding stand, which fits, with ease even into the smallest microwave oven. ...I love pizza anyway but Chicago deep dish pizza is my favourite and absolutly delicious, I dont normally buy them too often as they can be quite expensive, but I bought these whilst on offer. I just wanted to clarify that this op is about the big deep pan pizza. Some people seem to be writing about the little microwavable deep dish pizzas in this category which are completely different! I don’t suppose this is particularly important but at least the cooked pizza kind of resembled the picture on the box, unlike most foods.
