Chicago Town Takeaway Sauce Stuffed Crust
My fiancé had heard that the Chicago Town Takeaway Pizzas were one of the nicest shop bought pizza ranges, so when we saw them on offer in Tesco whilst shopping last week at 2 for £5, we picked a couple up! I bought a five cheese pizza from the tomato stuffed crust range, and my fiancé bought the chicken supreme from the 'Takeaway Original' range with no stuffed crust. We thought we'd have the pizzas that ... ...got back and it seemed a sensible thing to do as it meant the pizza could be left in the oven whilst we got on with what we were doing.
The box is styled to look like it is from a pizza takeaway place, it has a promise on the front of it too saying that it was fresh dough from frozen and that it had never been baked. The pizza on the front of the box looked delicious and tantalising. Turning the box over I saw they had shown more items available ...

...a try. 1 Chicago Town takeaway personal pizza, four cheese to go.
According to the packaging this pizza has “All the great taste of a takeaway pizza” but will it I wonder as I pop it into the oven for the recommended time, though some may be interested to know that no pre-heating is apparently required prior to cooking. Twenty minutes later off to the oven to see whether the pizza is cooked and does it really look like the picture on the box? I ... ...overpowering tomato flavour.
The Chicago Town takaway pizza personal also comes with pepperoni topping or the four cheese and pepperoni versions with a tomato stuffed crust,
Overall this is not a pizza I would buy again even when there is nothing left in the cupboard or freezer. Personally I prefer to make my own pizza as its not hard to do at all and this way I am in control of the flavour and what is added and making the dough can be very therapeutic.

...just any pizza but a Chicago Town Takeaway Sauce Stuffed Crust. I did ask him what was wrong with my home made pizzas (I have a bread maker so always make my own dough) and he told me "nothing" but it seems some of the lads he works with have been raving on about them and had said that it they are amazing. Advantages: Easy to cook, great flavour, great value! Disadvantages: Almost, but not quite as good as a Dominos. Just as unhealthy.
...heard the advert for this Chicago Town pizza again recently. They claim a survey of people preferred it to a Dominos' and a Pizza Hut take-out. My first thoughts were "Err, I don't think so. I guess its possible if they ordered from the worst Dominos' and Pizza Hut franchises in the country". A few days later I was shopping and decided to give these a try (so the advert worked). I bought a couple (2 for £6 at Tesco) of the Pepperoni ones. ~ What ... ...from most/all the other frozen pizzas because: 1) It comes with a tray which you cook it on, making it so much less messy. You can just slide the pizza from the tray on to your plate once its cooked! 2) You cook it in the oven from cold instead of preheating the oven. This didn't sound right to me however, so I warmed up the oven a little first and then kept an eye on it and served it when it was golden brown. 3) It comes with a generous helping ...

Advantages: It's frozen Disadvantages: doesn't taste like takeaway pizza
I'll be completely honest, some of these 'reviews' look a little suspicious to me. The pizza is good, probaly the best frozen pizza to market, the tomato sauce is takeaway tasty and they'res a good range of toppings. However, they actually retail for £2.99, and i can get a pizza from my local italian for £4.50, so its not a great price, although when they're reduced to the £1.99 at the supermarket i do stock up well.
The only week point is the crust ... ...if they'res a reason for it..?
It's cooks relatively easy, but you wil most certiainly need a dip for the crust!
ITS MOST CERTAINLY not an alternative to pizza hut, dominos or they're local takeaway pizza, but handy cause you can keep it in the freezer. clever marketing has people thinking it tastes like 'takeaway pizza' - CRAZY! ...

Quick review of Chicago Town Takeaway Pizza
I personally love dominos pizza and I didn't think any other take away pizza came close let alone a pizza from the supermarket. The crust on this pizza is really like a takeaway pizza. I love the bbq chicken one. The pizzas in this range aren't too expensive. The best pizza in the supermarkets by far and it would always be my first choice! ...

Advantages: Great taste, cheap and easy to cook. Disadvantages: None!
Chicago Town Pizza... WOW. I love these pizzas! They are a brilliant cheaper alternative to takeaway pizzas like Domino's or Pizza Hut, they are delicious! AVAILABILITY AND PRICE
You can pick them up for under £2 at any supermarket from the freezer section. I find that Tesco's has a great selection of Chicago Town's products.
TASTE
Amazing! Personally, I have only had the cheese flavour because I am vegetarian although I have it on good authority ... ...a similar size to the Chicago Town kind it is brilliant! OK, they aren't quite as nice as takeout pizzas but otherwise they would be out of business! COOKING The pizza is easy to cook, with instructions on the box, just chuck it in the oven and take it out around 20 minutes later! Considering it normally takes about 30-45minutes for a pizza too be delivered you're saving yourself time! ...

...the best pizza around. Chicago Town pizza is the closest in taste to that pizza. The crust is light and crisp. My daughter even eats the crust on this pizza, and she "doesn't do crusts". It is by far the best frozen pizza i have ever had and I have to say it beats quite a few takeaways also. I find that Dunnes stores and Tescos have a good selection of the Chicago Town pizzas. They are reasonably priced, If you are like me and like to get value for ...

Quick review of Chicago Town Takeaway Pizza
This product has to be an excellent example of 'it does what it says on the box'. I would rather pay the price for one of these pizzas than the extortionate prices of the main pizza takeaway chains. They are tasty, have a wonderful pleasant texture when eating and are obesely moreish!
If I have a negative comment it would be that there could be a little more topping on them, but being as the main pizza chains variety are a little annorexic, then i'm willing to overlook this minor detail. TRY AND ENJOY. ...

A few days later i got home lat and it was too late to cook so i thought i'd pop one of the pizza's in the oven so i could have something quick, but to my disapointment on reading the packaging i found that it was going to take 30 minutes in my gas oven( even in a fan assisted oven it would still have taken 25 minutes). Quick review of Chicago Town Takeaway Pizza
I'll keep this simple.This(5 cheese,i'm veggie)is THE BEST,frozen pizza,I have ever bought!!The dough, when cooked, does not turn into cardboard. The addition of sauce in the edge crust, means I do not throw away inedible, rock hard crust. There's plenty of cheese, and the sauce has flavour, unlike some incipid sauces used by other brands! It's great plain or with own added toppings.
Cooking times,we tend to add about another 4 mins.
To be honest, we have come to the decision, that if this product is not available at our usuall supermarket,we'll go without, anything else is just a let down! ...

Advantages: Proper Pizza Crust Disadvantages: Nothing Like Pizza Hut Or Dominos
...like 75% of people preferred Chicago Town pizza to Pizza Hut or Dominos. I thought that this pizza was going to be excellent. Not only that but a bargain as I picked one up for £1.50 at Morrisons.
Perhaps 75% of people preferred the price because the quality is nothing like a takeaway.
The main points about the pizza were;
- Not enough cheese
- Crusts went too hard (Crunchy, like a breakstick)
- Not enough vegetables (Supreme variety) Lots of ... ...all fairness for a frozen pizza it is not bad. Infact if you can purchase it for a similar price to a normal pizza then its a good choice. But it is no way up to a takeaway pizza standard. I really do not understand how they managed to get those results from a survey. But as you may know, if you ask the right questions you can get whatever answer you want. Im afraid this must be the case here.
Overall, ok value if cheap. Not worth £3 or more compared ...
