    Advantages Advantages Story trots along nicely, not too long

    Child of Time by Isaac Asimov and Robert Silverberg ISBN: 0330322702 Genre: Sci-fi This is an extended version of a short story called “The Ugly Little Boy”, written by Isaac Asimov and initially published in 1956. It is the second collaboration between Asimov and Silverberg, the first being “Nightfall”, also an extended version of a short story originally by Asimov.     Advantages Advantages An interesting tale, 2 great writers

    Disadvantages Disadvantages possibly hard to find

    This novel is based on a short story of Asimov's, "the Ugly Little Boy". It was first published in 1958, in Galaxy Magazine. For this novel, Asimov collaborated with Robert Silverberg, an equally talented writer,and the story became 'Child of Time', published in 1991. The premis of the novel is that a science company, researching statis and time travel manage to grab a neanderthal child form the ice age, and transport him to a world set itn he near future.     Advantages Advantages asimov, silverberg, what more do you want...

    Disadvantages Disadvantages short for the price, no aliens , no battles, no planets.

    This is a good story but only a short book. The mix of asimov and silverberg is a good one, bringing together the best of both styles. This is not going to be easy to find, we have one of the first copies and I have never seen another in a shop for years. It is about a neanderthal child snatched from the comfort(?) of his home into a future,of what can only be called, a comfortable prison. Of course a nanny is required. Plot here, she does not know anything about who she is to look after. It's a great story about a womans love for her charge, and the coldness and indifference of the superior ... more
