4 Stars I Have Another Addiction - Dior Addict! Review with images 21/06/2005

Advantages Advantages Sensually sexual and unique

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be expensive so look around

**Introduction** A few weeks ago I went into town on a Saturday afternoon with my partner. Of course, we went into the highstreet store - Boots. Like most women are prone to doing… I walked straight off towards the perfume section of the store and started spraying all those lovely scents on display that they have as testers. I have always been an avid lover of 'Christian Dior' products, so when I clapped my eyes on a bottle of perfume that I had yet to come across I was compelled to have a couple of sprays…. Like anyone would do, right? "I was in love with this scent as soon as it landed on my ... more

Now is it just me, or have Dior done incredibly well with their perfume range of late? First of all we had the delicious "J'adore", which was at the same time classy and wearable; then they introduced the out-of-this-world "Addict", whose unusual dramatic and sexy scent became nothing short of a national obsession - to the extent that I'm not sure I know any female who doesn't own a bottle; and recently they've made us fall in love with the brand all over again by releasing "Pure Poison", which is sitting firmly on my "please darling, please" list for Valentine's Day. The one they didn't ... more

Advantages Advantages Original, distinctive scent, long lasting, good quality

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Slightly pricey

۞ Christian Dior - Addict ۞ I didn't really 'discover' perfume until well into my teenage years when I suddenly realised that, besides a few cans of Charlie Red and the odd testers scattered around my room, I didn't actually own a bottle of perfume. Since then I seem to have gathered a nice little collection - well, some nice, some not so nice, so it's about time I got started with my reviewing of some of them… Christian Dior, Addict. Just the name of this perfume sounds luxurious and it is. I had my first whiff of this perfume when wandering around a department store, usually I ... more

Advantages Advantages Lighter than the original, more versatile

Disadvantages Disadvantages Still a bit expensive for everyday use.

Perfume is one of those luxury items that can evoke a whole range of feelings. If it is given to you as a gift, it can make you feel incredibly pampered. If you treat yourself, it feels very decadent. Some perfume may remind you of someone you once knew, and others can start a lifelong romance with fragrance. Dior's new offering in the Addict range - Eau Fraiche is certainly one of the latter. To me, perfumes have personalities, and what I wear indicates and reinforces how I feel. For instance, if I feel like a saucy temptress, then Dior Addict is the way to go. A more sophisticated mood is ... more

Advantages Advantages Smells delicious, sexy, lots of compliments!

Disadvantages Disadvantages You will get harassed by strange men!

Will there ever come a day when I can gaze upon my almost embarassing collection of perfumes and think to myself "Sarah, you now have all the perfumes you could ever want" and stop adding new bottles to my collection? Well, it doesn't seem as if that day will be dawning anytime soon. I would like to tell you about my latest addiction, er, perfume, Dior Addict Eau de Parfum. My quickie love affair began with Addict in 2002 when it was launched, as a girlfriend of mine bought the 'fume on a whim, as she liked the box and the bottle. Luckily she also really liked the scent, and the torrid quicky ... more

Advantages Advantages smells lovely, classy fragrance

Disadvantages Disadvantages can be heavy for some

One of the last Dior perfumes I am going to write about is probably one of the first ones I ever purchased but have loved for years, this is Dior Addict. It has since had different takes on the original but I still love the classic scent. I purchased this fragrance while on holiday at first but it is not everyone’s cup of tea as I‘ve had a lot of people say to me they find this quite heavy for a girl of my age but I don’t care as I don’t let people put me off something so easily. PACKAGING Dior Addict comes in a very nice box it is a hologram tall rectangular shapes box that says Dior Addict ... more

Advantages Advantages distinctiveness, bottle and packaging

    Disadvantages Disadvantages the smell

This fragrance was first released by Dior in 2002, the perfumer responsible for it was Thierry Wasser. It is generally placed into the oriental category, and is described as having a sophisticated sensuality. The name and the initial TV advert caused quite a controversy among recovering drug addicts. At first I was hesitant to write a review about something I really don't like. But people's comments on my last two Dior reviews show that many find the whole range too heavy duty. So I'll share my experience anyway, and I'll do my best to be fair and informative with it. A while ago I smelled ... more

Advantages Advantages Well, it smells nice, which is always an advantage...

Disadvantages Disadvantages It made me buy it!!

I really didn't expect to like Dior's new offering. All this over-sexy advertising, the rather scary name (I have quite enough addictions already, thank you very much), and the fact it was hailed by the women's glossies as a new classic all put me off. You see, I'd like to think of myself as too young and funky (hehe I do make myself laugh) to wear a so-called "classic" perfume which is usually reserved for middle aged, boring, safe people. So it was with a little trepidation that I squirted myself with "Addict" in my local department store. I was, however, instantly hooked. I kept doing that ... more

Advantages Advantages Lovely evening perfume, no asthma attack

    Disadvantages Disadvantages very expensive

I bought this last week as a treat (bad day at work) It did cost me £39 for 50ml from Boots, but I think it was probably worth it as now my other half can't keep his hands off me (oo-er). The other price I noted was £24 for 20ml. The perfume was designed by Thierry Wasser (from Firmenich, the Swiss fragrance manufacturer) and is Dior's first floral oriental. The blend is nightflower, rose, jasmine, orange blossom, sandalwood and bourbon vanilla. I'm normally quite wary of florientals, as things like Opium and Poison tend to bring on an asthma attack with me, and they make my fiance sneeze his ... more

Advantages Advantages Don't need to re-apply, absolutely devine!

Disadvantages Disadvantages A bit heavy for daytime

I received a little sample of this in a pack when I purchased some other Dior products. It was a little miniature bottle, about 10mls (can't remember exactly as it's all gone!). The size was perfect to pop in your handbag. This lasted me a couple of months and after this I purchased a larger bottle and moisturiser set. I really liked that you could buy a moisturiser with the perfume as I like to layer my fragrance. However it would've liked the size of the moisturiser to be larger as it is much smaller than the perfume and you obviously use more moisturiser at a time than perfume, therefore ... more
