Chrysler Surpriser

Advantages: Handling, extras as standard.
Disadvantages: Gear-box, fuel economy.

...it starts to get good. Chrysler produce most of their cars for the American market, and drivers over there are more demanding than us Brits. What are usually classed as extras over here are fitted as standard to the Neon. So you have the usual, such as ABS, power steering, electric windows (front only) and central locking, but you also get electric mirrors (l/h one folds in for garage/car-wash), built in alarm and immobilizer, air-bags for driver ...
...greedy, it could do with a sunroof, heated front windscreen and CD changer. Instruments Nothing ground-breaking here, I can see what I want to see and the controls are mostly well placed. The indicator has a tendency to return too early and not go back on, but I don't know if that's generic or just a dodgy spring on mine. Lights First bad point. The headlights are bad enough to be embarrassing. If you're driving at night on a road with no street ...

Chrysler Neon 2.0 LX Auto – A Flicker in the Dark?

...and feel though! NB Chrysler have finally introduced a Neon diesel variant, but I cannot comment on its performance. The recommend to potential buyers comes with several caveat's not least that you can afford the 'on-costs' of running such a heavy car, when balanced with the sheer affordability of a 'luxury' feel. ...

Neon LX 5-Speed Manual - Long Term Report

Advantages: Price, equipment levels, rarity value, 2.0 for the price of 1.6
Disadvantages: Less refined engine than the best of the bunch.

THIS IS NOW MY "END OF TERM REPORT" ON THE NEON AFTER ALMOST TWO YEARS USE. I bought my (new model) Neon LX in December 1999 from new. I have to date covered 18,000 miles in it during which time it has been utterly reliable with no defects on delivery either. It was always on the cards that I would sell this to my uncle after two years, but circumstances, in the guise of some doddering old twit reversing into his car, thereby writing it off, have ...
...by the Smart that I have written about elsewhere - an odd choice I know, but as I say, it's all down to circumstances and the fact that every time I have a "domestic" function to perform - the dump to you - our Micra proves to be by far the more useful. Servicing, although annoyingly frequent by modern standards (6-months or 7.5k miles), is also reasonably priced - the first two being £98 and £128. At least this way, you get a frequent oil change, ...

...old and drive (still) a Chrysler neon LX 2002. there isn't very much to add on the previous comments that was made, but I can highlight some of the points that was made. if the first question to your mind is : "what does a 23 year old do with a Chrysler neon" well truth be told this is my second Chrysler, and if it wasn't for the first one I would not have bought the second one... my first Chrysler was totalled by an unfortunate accident that changed ...
...trust me getting into a Chrysler neon safety is one of the most overwhelming feelings you get, my first Chrysler was hit on the side whilst I was standing still, at a 110Km/h (impact speed) and me and my girlfriend got out of the car with a few bumps and minor cuts from the class chatter.... also the front seats tilts away from the impact side providing extra protection. Chrysler also magnificently designed the gearbox, for a low speed "cruse" for ...

No longer an old man's car

Advantages: Great Value For Money
Disadvantages: Automatic is a fuel guzzler

I'm on my second Chrysler Neon Automatic, my current model being a 4 door, 2000 X Reg, Metallic Silver, 2.0 litre, 16V. What I like most about this car is the amount of extras you get for your money. This retailed new at around £14,000 with the following features included: automatic gear box air conditioning ABS leather seats and interior electronic front windows power steering & adjustable steering wheel electronically adjustable seat height ...
...have always enjoyed driving the Chrysler Neon. It's extremely comfortable and feels spacious, has a great audio system, good storage space, great 'girlie' visor mirrors with little lights, plenty of legroom for the back seat passengers, the blessing that is air conditioning and a seemingly never ending dashboard. It also benefits from some good security features which I won't give away. It's not the most economical of cars if you do a lot of mileage, ...

Chrysler neon automatic

...I saw a second hand Chrysler Neon for sale on the forecourt. I Knew very little about this Amercican built car as they have only being around in this country for a few years now. A lot of cars these days seem to resemble another make of car but not the Neon. It appears to come across as a sporty type car but at the same time a look of a family car. I've seen a couple of others on the roads with their tinted widows and massive rear spoilers but you ...
...could easily accomodate your family. So regarding the interior, you are overwhelmed by the amount of space on offer. There is plenty of leg room for five people and with this in mind I thought it must have a tiny boot capacity. But I was wrong and I have no trouble getting a pushchair and weekly shop in the boot. You can also drop the rear seats if you require a bit more room and as a added bonus you dont have to drop the whole seat. It's split ...

Good Overall Car

Advantages: Cheap, Good options, Nice drive,
Disadvantages: Can be too small for some large families

The Chrysler Neon like most other Chryslers is a very good car for the price. Now escpecially as car prices are tumbling down it is an excellent buy. The features it offers are second to none for such a small, cheap car. The word basic and Chrysler are never mentioned in the same sentence. I drove this for two weeks as a hire car in it's native country America. This car is totally full of features with air-conditioning as standard and so many extra ...

it still is a GREAT Car

Advantages: everything
Disadvantages: pulling big trailers...

...written a review on the Chrysler neon lx heading : "who said safety and luxury is expensive". Feel free to read and give your comments, I just have to add another comment to the Chrysler neon range. Overall it is a very nice car with all the added gadgets ,like air-con, power steering, traction control and abs brakes. Although the LX models are a 130bhp 2.0 litre car the power might seem a bit on the low end, but do yourselves the favour and push ...
...driveway I noticed that the Chrysler was having trouble pushing the trailer into the driveway. Anyway trailer is reversed in and we loaded the trailer and we are off to the new house, driving with the massive trailer hooked onto my backside, taking off at a intersection was VERY slow and if feels as if the car is going to die any second, gradually working the accelerator and the clutch to keep the revs from dropping to under 1000 rpm was the trick ...

A good value car with loads of equipment

Advantages: Cheap to buy
Disadvantages: Engine noisy, sluggish performance

I inherited my Chrysler Neon as a company car when it was 18 months into it`s 3 year lease. The first impressions are good, unusual styling, luxury interior with leather seats and wood trim. The car comes with air con, cruise control, traction control and ABS as standard, so there is a lot of kit for the price. The car drives smoothly and you feel very pampered inside. The controls are all at hand except the rear window heater. To switch it on ...
...Despite all these good points, I was disappointed in the car overall. Fuel economy is dreadful (20mpg round town) although it improves on the motorway. The engine is noisy, especially starting from cold when it sounds like a diesel for about 3 minutes. I have experienced some cabin rattles but the wind noise helps to cover them up! The boot space is average but suffers from obstructions like seat belt reels and speakers that prevent it being loaded ...

My Neon LX

Advantages: Specification, engine size, comfort
Disadvantages: Rather subjective styling, expensive parts, depreciation

...3. Parts very expensive 4. Chrysler main dealer servicing is a ridiculous price My car passed its MOT with no problems at all, and to say its done 42,000 miles already I've had no problems with it. The interior is tasetful and refined, although the lashings of wooden trim may cast some peoples minds back to the 'plastic wood' that adorns many rovers! The factory fitted CD player is unorthodox in shape, but extremely nice looking and compliments ...
...I would reccomend a Chrysler if you can stomach the rather odd styling as I have found it to be very reliable. Also you do get a lot of car for the price, anyone after a modest sized luxury family car should have a peek - you might be suprised at what you can get for under 5 grand! ...

Advantages: Space, styling, value, 2.0 litre engine, equipment, 3yr warranty
Disadvantages: Auto 'box, wind noise

The Chrysler Neon is a four door saloon aimed at the younger market. It has been out for a few months now, with the previous model here for about 3 or 4 years. It is just a few inches shorter than the Vectra and Mondeo, but it is priced to compete with Astras and Focuses. It is very spacious inside and seems well built. The £13,495 LX model is very well equipped and good value for money. The Neon comes with airbags, electric windows, electric mirrors, ...
...leather seats, traction control and cruise control with the controls on the steering wheel, something only found on more luxurious cars. The engine is quite powerful giving 131bhp. The 2.0 litre engine is also found in the Voyager and PT Cruiser models. It gives good performance, and the top speed is over 120mph. The Neon comes with a 3-year warranty, and the dealers are helpful and friendly. The Neon has proved reliable so far. The automatic gearbox ...

Not bad for a Dodge

Advantages: Affordable, compact
Disadvantages: Hard on gas

I have owned my Neon for a year now. The relay for the wipers has died, and I find that for a compact car that is a 4 cyllinder, it is hard on gas. It has many blind spots, and you don't want to be short if you are driving this, since the rear window is very high. Other than that it is good. It is quite comfortable for an economy car. It is cute looking and attracts attention. I was really shocked about how much power the little engine had. It really ...

Advantages: Pretty fast and attractive car
Disadvantages: Insurance is quite a bit as well as fuel consumption

My dad recently purchased a used silver version of the car in question. This car really looks absolutely stunning inside & out. The wood trim and tan leather is so georgeous in the inside. The boot is very spacious and the backlights are very attractive. The shape of the whole car is stunning. The engine is very nice and smooth, my dad has a 5 gear manual version and its very fast when really pushed. Safetywise it is very good as well. Now for ...

Advantages: Compact
Disadvantages: Power

I've had about 5 of these cars, and it's awesome. The only thing I don't like about it is that it takes a while for the gears to change. Other than that, I love this car to death. You can totally personalize thisc ar with body kits, and etc that are easy to find in sport racing websites and shops. The only thing I reccomend is that you buy and install a new radio because cds are known to get stuck in the stock radio. :( Other than that I love this ...
