    Disadvantages Disadvantages Gear-box, fuel economy.

Neon 2.0 LX 1997 Manual 5-speed gearbox. I've been driving this car for over a year now, and that's a long time for me, so it must be good. Bought second hand from a dealer, I paid just £1300 for this car, plus a Rover 800 that you couldn't give away (I have the sneaking suspicion that I would have paid less if I hadn't traded in the Rover). As a connoisseur of the second hand car market (twenty cars in twenty-seven years) I know that it's all a game, no matter what you think you've checked, there will be something you'll have to pay out for. So when I buy a car I kick the tyres, take it for a ... more

Advantages Advantages Luxurious Car for Reasonable Price

Disadvantages Disadvantages Fuel Consumption Wind noise

WHY After driving my Neon for 3.5 years and 36000 miles from new, I guess it is time I told someone about the experience. BASICs I opted for the 2.0 LX Auto which was a mere £500 dearer than the SE model at the time. (Automatic was a 'free' extra as standard). The ‘included’ specification is quite surprising for the on the road cost which, having (too easily) negotiated £1k off the list price, I thought was a very attractive package. There is no doubt the Neon is a good looking car, its sleek shape still turns a few heads. LUXURY The Daimler inspired comfortable leather seats and leather ... more

Advantages Advantages Price, equipment levels, rarity value, 2.0 for the price of 1.6

Disadvantages Disadvantages Less refined engine than the best of the bunch.

THIS IS NOW MY "END OF TERM REPORT" ON THE NEON AFTER ALMOST TWO YEARS USE. I bought my (new model) Neon LX in December 1999 from new. I have to date covered 18,000 miles in it during which time it has been utterly reliable with no defects on delivery either. It was always on the cards that I would sell this to my uncle after two years, but circumstances, in the guise of some doddering old twit reversing into his car, thereby writing it off, have brought this forward. This will now be replaced by the Smart that I have written about elsewhere - an odd choice I know, but as I say, it's all down ... more

Advantages Advantages safe, secure ,luxurious and fun

Disadvantages Disadvantages bit under powered, and parts are a bit expencive

Hi there , my name is Marius, I'm 23 years old and drive (still) a Chrysler neon LX 2002. there isn't very much to add on the previous comments that was made, but I can highlight some of the points that was made. if the first question to your mind is : "what does a 23 year old do with a Chrysler neon" well truth be told this is my second Chrysler, and if it wasn't for the first one I would not have bought the second one... my first Chrysler was totalled by an unfortunate accident that changed my life for the GOOD, however I could never understand why the car never rolled, now that I know about ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Automatic is a fuel guzzler

I'm on my second Chrysler Neon Automatic, my current model being a 4 door, 2000 X Reg, Metallic Silver, 2.0 litre, 16V. What I like most about this car is the amount of extras you get for your money. This retailed new at around £14,000 with the following features included: automatic gear box air conditioning ABS leather seats and interior electronic front windows power steering & adjustable steering wheel electronically adjustable seat height 7 CD player electronic wing mirrors which also fold inwards ( very useful on narrow country lanes) cruise control front seat airbags variable wiper ... more

Neon 2.0 LX automatic 99 V Two years ago I was looking for any type of car that could sit three people and have room for a buggy and everything else a baby needs. I wasn't look for any type of vehicle but I saw a second hand Chrysler Neon for sale on the forecourt. I Knew very little about this Amercican built car as they have only being around in this country for a few years now. A lot of cars these days seem to resemble another make of car but not the Neon. It appears to come across as a sporty type car but at the same time a look of a family car. I've seen a couple of others on the roads ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, Good options, Nice drive,

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be too small for some large families

The Chrysler Neon like most other Chryslers is a very good car for the price. Now escpecially as car prices are tumbling down it is an excellent buy. The features it offers are second to none for such a small, cheap car. The word basic and Chrysler are never mentioned in the same sentence. I drove this for two weeks as a hire car in it's native country America. This car is totally full of features with air-conditioning as standard and so many extra options for hardly anything extra. I would thoroughly reccomend this car to anyone with a medium family. It is a comfortable car to drive and I am ... more

    Advantages Advantages everything

    Disadvantages Disadvantages pulling big trailers...

I have previously written a review on the Chrysler neon lx heading : "who said safety and luxury is expensive". Feel free to read and give your comments, I just have to add another comment to the Chrysler neon range. Overall it is a very nice car with all the added gadgets ,like air-con, power steering, traction control and abs brakes. Although the LX models are a 130bhp 2.0 litre car the power might seem a bit on the low end, but do yourselves the favour and push the revs to about 6000rmp and you will notice the 130 horses packed under the hood works well together, it gives you the impression ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cheap to buy

Disadvantages Disadvantages Engine noisy, sluggish performance

I inherited my Chrysler Neon as a company car when it was 18 months into it`s 3 year lease. The first impressions are good, unusual styling, luxury interior with leather seats and wood trim. The car comes with air con, cruise control, traction control and ABS as standard, so there is a lot of kit for the price. The car drives smoothly and you feel very pampered inside. The controls are all at hand except the rear window heater. To switch it on means taking your eyes off the road to find it. Despite all these good points, I was disappointed in the car overall. Fuel economy is dreadful (20mpg ... more

Advantages Advantages Specification, engine size, comfort

Disadvantages Disadvantages Rather subjective styling, expensive parts, depreciation

Ive had the car for a year now and its been fine absolutely no problems at all. The only minor niggles are: 1. Heavy fuel consumption 2. Leather seats don't seem to be as robust as some other types (e.g. BMW) mine are starting to look tired (drivers especially) 3. Parts very expensive 4. Chrysler main dealer servicing is a ridiculous price My car passed its MOT with no problems at all, and to say its done 42,000 miles already I've had no problems with it. The interior is tasetful and refined, although the lashings of wooden trim may cast some peoples minds back to the 'plastic wood' that ... more
