Advantages Advantages Unique styling, retro looks, shiny gear lever

Disadvantages Disadvantages Where do I start?

When Chrysler launched the PT Cruiser six years ago I was among the crowd who went: "Wow!" Put simply, I thought it was perhaps the single bravest move an automobile company had made in many years. The concept of taking an old Hot Rod style vehicle and turning it in to an every day usable vehicle was intriguing and the retro styling, inside and out, was definitely an attraction to me, and to many other road users. It took me some time to get my hands on one of these cars, and eventually I ended up putting my Jeep Grand Cherokee into the garage for some extensive (not to mention expensive) ... more

Advantages Advantages fantastic looking, reliable and good performance

Disadvantages Disadvantages not the easiest to park

Love it or hate it, no one is indifferent to this car. ‘Might as well be a hearse!’ screamed my sister, ‘don’t EVER put flowers on the back shelf whatever you do!’. However I think the PT Cruiser, with it’s gorgeous retro styling and totally unique appearance, is a fantastic looking car, and two weeks into owning mine I am quite delighted with it (although I wouldn’t have gone for a black one). It’s the styling that sets it apart from most other cars on the road (certainly anything else within our budget and range of options). The pronounced ... more

THE PT CRUISER. The brainchild of the Chrysler corporation was born in the year 2000. It has a styling that is part Retro and part Modern, the retro styling taken from the designs of the 1930's with a stand up front grill and rounded wings bulging from the front and rear of the car. The retro has been carried on into the interior to enhance the overall effect. Many people stop and stare at the car and pass many different comments about it, some love it, some hate it, but to be serious you can't knock it. The PT represents a new way of thinking about small vehicle proportions , because it's ... more

Advantages Advantages Looks, build quality, smooth to drive, roomy, easy to park

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not a lot

About 18 months ago when I was in New England I rented a Chrysler PT cruiser for two weeks & clocked up more than 1000 miles, it gave me a good opportunity to assess the vehicle for this review. As you will see with the pictures of the actual vehicle it is a modern interpretation of a 1930s American hot rod & Chrysler have done rather a good job. The low front & high rear ends with slab sides mimics the old hot rods as does the pointed bonnet line & front wing styles. The retro look is carried over to the interior with body coloured painted metal dashboard along with little details as the fake ... more

To be honest, I can't remember where I first saw this car. I think it was in a newspaper ad. But I definitely remember thinking "Wow!"... At the time, I was mulling over changing in both my own and my wife's cars for a single one as I'd just moved to a "train commute" job. We were looking at MPVs at the time but one look at the specs on this baby and a visit to the showroom later and we had our name on the list. We have two young children (with a third now on the way) and although we had to wait around six months (don't know what the waiting list is like now), it was WELL WORTH IT! We took ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not much except a little small

Whenever I get into this car I get transported back to the 30’s in my mind. It is the cutest car I have ever seen, but don’t be fooled, it’s a great little car. We laughingly call it the "Gangsta Car". We got the limited edition which has the larger wheels and a sunroof. The inside is leather and suede. We purchased this car in Marchof 2001. Now there is a much sportier edition called the Touring Edition. The 2.4 liter engine has a lot of pick-up and can get out of the way fast. It performs very well on the freeway. My husband likes the way it handles and how he can get in ... more

I have just returned from a test drive in the New Chrysler PT CRUISER and enjoyed it so much that I just had to write and tell you about it! Having owned both a 2.0l Neon and a 2.0l Voyager in the past, I thought I knew what to expect from Chryslers 2 litre engine - Was I wrong! The engine in the new PT Cruiser is uprated and it has transformed the performance. The Cruiser is now on a par with performance figures for the XR3i. Driving this car through a town centre on a saturday afternoon certainly turned heads! Its looks are superb - A cross between a 30s gangster car and someones customised ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages invoice is up due to high demand

Ahh, drop drooling over the car! You must resist the urge. It costs way too much now, just wait till 150k of them are shipped next year. The PT Cruiser is the first real challenge the Beetle gets since its rebirth, as its even more funky than the VW, and I actually think its a better car. First of all, the Cruiser is hardly a small car like the Beetle. Its not a big one either; however, the fact that you can fold down all the seats except for drivers gets it the categorization of being a truck. Yeah, not as big as the ones you are used to, but this thing is indeed a truck. But no, some will ... more

Advantages Advantages Looks, Comfort, Looks, Value for Money, Looks

Disadvantages Disadvantages A bit slower than you'd expect

We've had our PT Cruiser, a Limited edition model, for about seven weeks now, and we still haven't calmed down...! Don't get me wrong, no way is this the most exciting car you'll ever drive, but its just so much damn fun your petrol bill will go through the roof just because you can't resist driving around in it. Ours is patriot blue which, of course, I think is the best, because it looks sort of dark and sleek (well, from the front anyway....). I've seen red, and silver ones, and my personal opinion is that they look a bit cheap and nasty - you decide! The rear view is probably the only thing ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, practical, drop dead gorgeous

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be small for a large family

This car came out and took the US by storm and now it is invading Britain. It is one of the nicest cars on the road and will get you noticed. It is a real poser s car. However on the other hand, it is reasonably cheap, very practical for it's relative size and full of features like most Chryslers. It is an excellent car for any small to medium sized family. The price is reasonable and is going down along with most car prices. As with all Chryslers, this car is jam packed full with features at no extra cost. You name it and it will probably be in this vehicle. i used to think the best car of ... more
