    If money talks, it speaks volumes about Ciao's priorities. Sweat out a review of a well-remunerated product, assuming a few dozen reads, and you could earn a pound or two. Usually it's a lot less. If you're like me, you may have spent many hours writing and researching that review. Fill in a survey however, and Ciao might pay you a couple of quid - or more - for 20 minutes' minimal effort. That suggests to me that our responses to surveys matter more to Ciao than our reviews.     I may be rocking the boat here a bit and may even upset some of the "Die hard Loyal Ciao fans", however in recent times I have become a little dismayed with the survey side of Ciao. My little winge consists of two parts. The first one is the amount of money that is being paid to members for carrying out these surveys. The second concern is the amount of information that is obtained during the so called "Screening Process".     Advantages Advantages Sounds like Easy Money

    The Dream Money for nothing, well that is the idea at least money for sitting on your arse a not doing very much, that is the appeal of these surveys, you simply fill in a few details about your habits, nasty or otherwise and get paid a handsome reward. Along with the tupence's you get for writing reviews etc, this is a great way of piling in the extra cash, after all there is no research to be done, you can even make the answers up if you are entirely unethical…Who's gonna know ?… I wont tell, if you don't, in fact you could probably make enough money to go on holiday, buy a new pair of shoes ... more

    When I first joined Ciao in 2002, it was not to write reviews, in fact I didn't even realise that you could take part in that side of the site. No, I joined Ciao after receiving an email telling me how I could make my fortune by being paid to complete surveys that they sent me. At the time I joined, even if you didn't complete the surveys you could get paid a nominal amount just for being told you did not qualify, I can't tell you when this changed, as for a long time I didn't really bother with them, but I can tell you all about my opinion on how they work now. ---How to get invited--- Now ... more

    Advantages Advantages Surveys a relevant to recpients and money is paid straight into ciao account.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages few and far between for most people, and payment is quite unreliable

    Ciao surveys have been slagged off a bit in the review section I have noticed (maybe by newcomers who have found they havn't recieved as many survey offers as they expected) so I decided I woud try to shed some sort of light on the whole topic with my own experiences of 'ciao surveys'. Firtstly, its important that you realise you've got to sign up to take part in the surveys. This is done in our 'my ciao' section where you just tick a little box to say that you would like to participate in surveys. These surveys are then sent to you by e-mail.     When the decrease in payment rates was introduced last year, many members looked to the receipt of Ciao surveys as a substitute for the loss in earnings that they had enjoyed up until then. I have read a number of reviews since then that have dismissed the concept as an earnings opportunity, based on the fact that you never get any. A novice to the site could therefore be forgiven for knowing nothing about the subject, so here’s the low down on what Ciao Surveys are all about, and my experience of them.     Advantages Advantages Fairly good payouts, prize draw for not being able to finish surveys

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Big variation in payouts, can take a very long time to get money

    I've been on Ciao for getting on for 3 years now, and once I really got into it, I found it to be a useful little flow of money. More recently though when the "Ciao Beta" started, with very poor rewards, made up with prize draw entries that paid out big, but with little chance of winning, I was concerned this was the beginning of the end. Then came the split between the surveys and the opinions, with surveys basically following the lines of the beta. At this point I was really demoralised, the few surveys that paid out decent I didn't seem to qualify for. I notice many other reviews have said ... more

    Signed up to 'Ciao Surveys' when I started trying out several survey sites a few months ago. The site is free to join and open to members over 14 years of age and UK residents for the UK version of the site. I signed up free and waited for surveys to come in which they did. They are mostly product surveys which are normally the longer ones and there are some general surveys too. Though 'Ciao Surveys' is a reputable site, it turned out to be a huge disappointment compared to other survey sites.. I receive a good number of surveys per week but they all seem to be £0.10p surveys that are often ... more

    Advantages Advantages most take only few minutes, direct payment to ciao account, no junk mail

    Disadvantages Disadvantages sometimes profiles don't match, some surveys are time-limited and get full, technical problems

    Since the new Ciao re-design in November 2003 this opinion has been updated in 2004,2005, 2006 & 2007. Whether you are a new or old member reading this opinion one of the best part sof Ciao is the availability of Ciao Surveys has nothing to do with your activity or length of membership on the site. So fear not, new members you too can qualify to receive surveys based upon your interests and get paid just for a few minutes of your time.     There seem to be a lot of badly written reviews about Ciao surveys on this site. Perhaps because they are witan by newcomers who were introduced to Ciao by the surveys then discovered the reviews. I must admit this was the case with me. I am sure I found Ciao via a list of survey sites as I was addicted to them at the time and a member of a few of them. Some are good and pay great rewards whilst others seem to put you into prize draws, have impossible targets for claiming rewards or change the rules.
