Advantages: Cleans with ease and they were cheap on offer Disadvantages: No good for the windows in the car
...I have got those new CIF Glass & Window wipes.
Are they any good?
Well sit back and read on and I will reveal all.
Shopping ~
Ever since I saw the advertisement for the wipes on TV almost 1 month ago I have frantically searched up and down the aisles of my local Tesco’s only to find that they were always sold out, so first good point is they proved popular.
In my never-ending search for this product I thought we would give Safeway a bash for ... ...down I wanted the wipes).
To my delight they had bundles and bundles of the wipes and not only that they were on special offer, how could I cope? Packs were reduced from £1.59 to just 99p a bargain, but how was I to know even that was a bargain I had never tried them? Still I picked four packets just in case.
Back home ~
Messages were unpacked and my nose was bothering me, so I decided to have a little clean up in the kitchen that turned into ...

...had heard a lot about Cif Glass and Window Wipes, after seeing the advertising on TV and reading such opinions as the excellent one by Squidget on the product. But I didn’t think I would be reviewing them myself, as it’s not something I tend to bother much about – the state of my windows. I mean, I’m a reluctant housewife at the best of times. But I do like freebies and surfing the Internet one day, I filled in a form to receive ... ...design. You take out the Cif wipes individually through the slot in the top, so the others in the packet stay fresh and ready for use.
They are to be used for cleaning windows, glass and plastic surfaces in general, computer screens, TV screens, glass tables, car windscreens, mirrors and so on. They are NOT to be used on polished or untreated wood surfaces, or plasma screens. The pack claims they remove ‘dirt, grime and fingerprints quickly ...

Advantages: You feel virtuous because you've cleaned the windows. Disadvantages: Your windows aren't clean.
...bought a packet of these Cif wipes. Well, one of the things that I hate about cleaning is all the paraphernalia that you need to do what should be a relatively simple job. I’d reached the stage where cleaning the windows meant a bucket of soapy water and cloth to wash the window (have you ever noticed how the water runs down your arm and drips off your elbow?) a squeegee to remove all the water from the window and a dry cloth to polish the window. ... ...bores me and I will jump at any lame excuse not to do the windows, or any other housework come to that.
So, there I was walking round Tesco and I saw this packet of wipes. You open the packet, remove the wipe which is “soaked in a unique and fast-evaporating solution containing alcohol”. It sounded like a bottle of wine, so it had my attention. This miracle of modern science and marketing then cleans the windows, the mirrors and other glass and ...

...out household chores – with CIF wipes I found my hands smelt lovely all lemony and fresh and didn’t irritate my skin in the least. After washing my hands I found that the smell was gone, but they felt lovely and soft!!
I really do think that the wipes are value for money, although am not entirely sure how much they cost, as I haven’t yet seen them on the shelves – but I will find out for you. All you really need to know is ... ...they will save you time, YES they will save on elbow grease and long term YES they will save you money – especially if you go for the freebie offer! I cant say I am into cleaning my windows, preferring much more fun things in life, but I will go so far as to say that window cleaning will certainly be on my agenda much more often than before! Something I am sure will please the window cleaner!! ...

Advantages: Quick and convenient. Disadvantages: Don't tell you what they contain on the pack...don't clean for you! (Except that they are wipes, of course!).
...pack of 40 extra large Cif Glass and window wipes. For one thing they were "free" ( a certain way to get my attention) and they said for "QUICK, EASY, SPARKLING RESULTS" on the packet....Ok, so they'd caught my interest...could they keep it? According to the packet the wipes are soaked in a solution containing alchohol which should remove "dirt, grime and fingerprints"; ideal for a house like mine! Just remember to follow the pack instructions and don't use them on plasma televisions or lap-top screens. Don't forget to shop around for the bargains and don't expect them to perform miracles.....they are only wipes after all! They are a handy little product to have in your cleaning cupboard. I'm sure that if you look in the cupboard ...

...popped a pack of 40 Cif glass and window wipes. So my task for the morning was quickly decided..... I was to clean all the windows and glass surfaces in the house to see how well they worked, and of course, my number one priority to be able to advise fellow Ciaoers whether they were worth buying.
11.00am - I opened the pack, the first thing that hit me was the really refreshing lemony smell. Unlike some other glass cleaners I have smelt before the ... ...clouds on which reminded me of spring cleaning and looking through sparkling clean windows. Also immediately by looking at the packet I could see what sort of surfaces I could use the wipes on ie windows, mirrors, glass tables and TV screens.
The good thing about the packaging also was that you could break the seal and open by peeling off the sticker halfway and there was no danger of the wipes drying out. I thought on the whole the packaging was ...

...disappointed.
Not so with Cif glass and window wipes however, like Cif bathroom mousse, this is a product which has a multiplicity of purposes - one of the reasons I've given these wipes a thumbs up.
Each impregnated wipe is thick, large and absorbent meaning it doesn't totally disintegrate the minute it touches the surface it is intended for. I began obviously by cleaning windows and it made easy work of making all 24 panels in my dividing glass ... ...over the glass after using the wipes (this only took a second or two to do however).
I moved on to polishing mirrors, bathroom tiles, toilet top, window cills and bathroom taps, all of which came up clean after a quick follow up polish with a soft rag, although admittedly I needed several wipes for all these work surfaces. The wipes can even be used on television screens and car windscreens, but not on laptop screens for some reason.

...name on the from as CIF was previously known as Jif products and me being as sad as usual I decided to buy them mainly due to the different name. What are CIF Window Wipes? The wipes come in a plastic pouch containing about 20-25 wipes. Be careful that you close the lid securely as the cleaning formula is the moist stuff which will go dry quickly if the lids left open so make sure its closed (tight!).
The smell.
They smell particularly nice, not the original window cleaning smell. They smell ...

...quite a few opinions on Cif Glass and Window Wipes, some favourable, some not so favourable, so I decided that the only way to be certain was to try them myself.
The first opinion which I read was that of my sister, Helen, (aka Pagan) who said that these were hopeless. I now know that I should have trusted that opinion – and, Hels, if you want to say I told you so, now’s your chance!
I got my pack of window wipes and read the wording ... ...clean. The one advantage that Cif has over Windowlene is that the wipes smell reasonably pleasant, whereas Windowlene has an awful smell!
I have just read the blurb on the back of the packet again, which talks of a ‘dazzling shine’ and ‘no smears’ – who are they kidding?
The wipes are made by Lever Brothers, and cost about £1.50 for a packet of 20. Each wipe is about the size of a paper tissue or a square of kitchen ...

40 large window wipes arrived in the post a free gift from Cif. What can you do with 40 window wipes? Let us clean our windows I thought. I started with the dirtiest window I could find and 3 wipes later the window was cleaner but it was all smudged and I did not feel it had done a very good job.
I next started on the shower cubical. I could get the outside cleaner but what about the inside. I had to work hard and they still didn't remove the limescale.
... ...managed to clean several mirrors with 1 wipe and they looked a lot cleaner, no smudges just my ugly mug looking back at me. After recieving my 40 trial Cif wipes through the post, i also recieved a 12 pack of 'rival' Domestos wipes through the post!!!!

...I went for Cif Glass and Window Wipes, mainly because they were a BOGOF, and partly because the blurb on the pack made it seem so wonderfully easy. I came away with two packs, each containing 20 extra large wipes, for a little over a pound, and a sense of optimism, knowing that I’d soon breeze through the whole house with these easy-to-use, time-saving cloths.

Conclusion:
Cif Glass and Window Wipes make a travesty of the Trades Descriptions Act. They do not do what they say they do. They make your windows worse.

Advantages: look good if the sun never shines Disadvantages: smears, smears, smears and er..oh yes..more smears
I bought the Cif Window Wipes the other day from Tesco, I purchased a resealable pack containing 20 large wipes.
Well, they describe them as large, they are a little smaller than a man size tissue (someone else described their size like this, I know, but it sums it up perfectly)

--------
It is Sunday 3rd June, I have just been out with my Mr Muscle Lemon Glass and Window Shine, all my horrible Cif smears are now removed and I have bright sparkley windows (even with the sun shining through them!) So if you have been caught with smeary 'Ciffed' windows, my advice is go for Mr Muscle - a little polish with this on a duster and my windows were smear free. ...
