Advantages: No babies! Disadvantages: Lots of side-effects for me
I’ve been on Cilest twice now, once when I was a lot younger, mainly to help with painful periods, and once more recently, mainly for contraceptive purposes. Both times I changed to a different pill after about a year – the first time I didn’t get on with the alternative pill, so came off it altogether, but this time I am hoping that the alternative (which I am about to start taking next week) will be an improvement. Anyway, having ... ...opinion about my experiences.

I do recommend random pregnancy tests just to ensure with any pills as the break from the pill is not a true period. ...

Cilest comes in strips of 21 small blue pills, it also, thoughtfully, comes with a little pouch to keep them in that will easily and discreetly slip into your make-up bag or purse.

Advantages: Less emotional, regular periods, good contraceptive, clear skin Disadvantages: thirst, tiredness, weird appetite, snappy, irritable
I was on Cilest for almost a year, but have recently stopped taking it for a month to see if I'm any better without it. Since stopping I have been very emotional - tearful - though this could be more to do with other things, I don't know. I didn't really notice the side effects until I thought about how I was feeling lately etc.

Advantages: great for regulating periods Disadvantages: made my skin bad
I was on Cilest for 10mnths so I gave it a good go.
At the beginning it seemed like the ideal pill for me as I have had terrible trouble finding one that suits me.
To start with I only had a few leg cramps and sore breasts on the 10th and 11th pill of the packet.
It regulated my periods and they were so light and pain free, before I used to roll around the floor in agony! I knew exactly when it would start to the hour! before that I could go 6mnths ... ...this pill, I noticed it was having a terrible effect on my skin, the few spots I got each month became worse and were there all month long, also whatever I put on my skin even the most basic moisturiser would irritate and I would come up in thousands of tiny red spots all over my face, it hurt like hell and looked like I had something catching! there was no way I was going to stay on this pill, so I changed to Dianette which has been much better.

Advantages: An attractive sleeve to keep the blister pack in each month. Disadvantages: Loss of libido!!
I went on to Cilest after trying three other pills - Loestren 30 which was great, but i simply grew out of it, Microgynon which gave me the most almighty headaches, and BiNovum (a pill that alters it's dose on different days of the cycle) that turned me into a hormonal wreck. I'm not saying that Cilest is all bad. I will accept that most poeple are fine with it, but I think that it all depends on the person. Looks like I'm just not the person for it though! ...

I’ve been on Cilest since about August ’08 and I think I started crying at random stuff around October time.
