Advantages: Well known global bank, Good products.
Disadvantages: Lousy call return rate.

Citibank are the only bank I know of to offer an interest and fee free £500 overdraft in the UK. Other products are as good, travel fx, Libor mortgages, etc It has the added advantage of being truely worldwide eg phone banking from the many countries they serve is free and in your home language. There used to be a low income criteria (£20k = UK national average wage)for becoming a member but it was removed, I don't think I came back through ... Read review

I have used Citibank for both my private and my company(not available now) accounts for a number of years. I travel all over the world with my job, and can use my cash card anywhere I go as it has all the links that you want on it. In addittion the card doubles as a debit card, and a credit card abroad. I moved to Citibank about 2 years ago now and have never had a single cause to complain about there service (both attitude and level of). Compared to my old British bank who seem to take their customers for granted and charge them for the privilage, it's a refreshing change to be treated like you matter. Open a citibank bank account and you can get a FREE flight or Eurostar ticket to Paris or Brussels. The only CATCH is that you must either leave £2,000 in the account for 32 months OR have your salary transferred. Other advantages include: a reasonable (2.5%) rate of interest on your savings. We chose Citibank because we believed that being part of a US owned operation, we would get the standards of service to which we have become accustomed from AmSouth, our bank in the US. Nothing could be further from the truth. Whereas in the US, a bank will take a MAXIMUM of 3 days to clear a check, Citibank took 14 working days to clear our bank cashier's checks. I have a bad experience with CitiBank. I paid my mobile postpaid bill through CitiBank online utility Payment. Even after 4 days the amount is not received by my mobile service provider. Advantages: Worldwide access to cash dispensers, phone and internet banking, international freephone numbers, savings accounts available in all major currencies, free banking, ability to pay in cheques for free at Lloyds bank branches, £500 interest free overdraft.
Disadvantages: Not the highest interest rates for savings, not available to low earners.

Since I opened my Citibank account three years ago, I have not looked back. The service has proved to be extremely reliable and error free, unlike my experience with other banks. It is only when you hear of the experience of others that you realise how lucky you are. Oh yes. I am one of the suckers whospends a lot of time in both UK and Europe and therefore needs to have easy access to money in different currencies. Citibank does offer some savings on inetrantional transactions, but their costomer service is appalling. In fact, my husband and I have nicknamed them Personal Wankers, not Personal Bankers.
