Advantages: Very spacious, Seats are higher than normal cars. Disadvantages: Slow to get moving, Car sways around corners.
We purchased this Citroen Berlingo Multispace 1.8i in 2000 straight off of the showroom floor.
The various factors that made us buy it is that the seating height allowed my elderly grandparents to easily get in and out of the vehicle as they were suffering from various joint problems and also as we did our shopping with them we needed the boot space to take two family's weekly shopping.
The boot space is very spacious as it is but combined with ... ...and interiors.
*Please note that Citroen have since given the Berlingo a facelift and from what I have heard, have fixed most of these downsides. The new range is called Forte and comes with rear sliding doors as well as CD Player and is avaliable with a Diesel engine. ...

Advantages: Loads of room; good storage; cool French colour scheme Disadvantages: Lack of power; bits keep falling off.
I loved the look of this car. A chunky half car-half van with an interior reminiscent of pre-war railway carriages, French design details (including red seatbelts), clever storage with a marvellous shelf above the windscreen and hidden compartments under the floor. The back seats fold flat, creating a massive space.
Sadly, the Berlingo has been a little disappointing. The 1.8 litre diesel engine is slow to get going. My partner complains that the ... ...this probably depends on your own shape and size. The worst thing is the way bits keep dropping off or going wrong. One of the back, sliding doors has a faulty lock which keeps going wrong, and the loop to pull the back door shut fell off.
It's a bit of a love-hate relationship I've got with this car. It looks cool and I love the storage, but I think I'm selling it before the guarantee runs out. My recommendations? If you're not bothered about having ...

Advantages: Cheap MPV, very practical, loads of available space, will seat five comfortably Disadvantages: Looks ugly, not to clever gear box, coolant leaks, poor car user manual
...Why on earth didn't Citroen stick with the conventional method of hose fitting using a jubilee clip, they have with the top hose!
Another problem I found was the gearbox, which I have now got more used to. It sometimes tries to go through into reverse when coming down from 5th to 4th. Graunch! Very annoying but I guess typically French.
I have lost two wind screens to stones doing around 55 - 60mph on this car (never on any others I have driven) ... ...manual for the car. Citroen were never very forthcoming with the technical stuff and always referred me to a web site which appeared to be all but useless.
The grey plastic outside trim seems to weather badly and has spoiled the look of the car, however I note that later models seem to have done away with some of it, wise move. I have noticed Citroen have improved the front end but done nothing much to the back, I feel the rear lights could do with ...
