Advantages Advantages Very spacious, Seats are higher than normal cars.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Slow to get moving, Car sways around corners.

We purchased this Citroen Berlingo Multispace 1.8i in 2000 straight off of the showroom floor. The various factors that made us buy it is that the seating height allowed my elderly grandparents to easily get in and out of the vehicle as they were suffering from various joint problems and also as we did our shopping with them we needed the boot space to take two family's weekly shopping. The boot space is very spacious as it is but combined with the double folding rear seats the space greatly increases (we actually loaded-up a childs playhouse with room to spare). We have the full-length ... more

    Advantages Advantages great storage

Disadvantages Disadvantages cant climb hills very well

The citroen berlingo 1.8 has lots of storage such as side compartments in both sides of the front of the car, attached to the door. Also at both sides in the back and the boot. There are netted compartments in the back at both sides up the top. And attached to the back of front seats. There is a good sized gloves compartment and two under the ground in the back, they have lids that blend in with the floor. The seats are well padded and very comfy, they are grey with netted grey up the middle. The two front seats move back and forward to suit you, they also lean right back. The back seat fold ... more

Advantages Advantages Loads of room; good storage; cool French colour scheme

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lack of power; bits keep falling off.

I loved the look of this car. A chunky half car-half van with an interior reminiscent of pre-war railway carriages, French design details (including red seatbelts), clever storage with a marvellous shelf above the windscreen and hidden compartments under the floor. The back seats fold flat, creating a massive space. Sadly, the Berlingo has been a little disappointing. The 1.8 litre diesel engine is slow to get going. My partner complains that the passenger seat is uncomfortable, although I like the driver's seat: this probably depends on your own shape and size. The worst thing is the way bits ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap MPV, very practical, loads of available space, will seat five comfortably

Disadvantages Disadvantages Looks ugly, not to clever gear box, coolant leaks, poor car user manual

I bought my Berlingo back in September 2002 when it was about a year old and still in warranty after reading several reviews by the way. I wanted a practical car that would replace my mechanically sound but falling apart Montego and an MPV seems ideal. Unfortunately most MPV's are expensive hence my gravitation to the Berlingo. Well I was very impressed with the test drive. At this point I should point out that mine has a 1.6i (or at least so I'm told) engine and NOT a 1.8i, I had already read that the diesel versions were too sluggish. Compared with the 2.0L longer stroke Montego I found it ... more
