Advantages: Economy, parking, emissions etc etc Disadvantages: Hardly any, a small car ?
...am (?) i bought a Citroen C3 .. why ?? i hear you cry. Well here are the reasons...
My boss says im so tight I squeak, but there again being a professional buyer is that a bad thing ?!, I set out to buy a car that would not break the bank on the journey to work (its a 30 mile round trip, which isnt bad but could still hit the wallet).
The first thing I did was to check out a government website that details the most frugal engines (ie those with ... ...for the C3 I bought were around 55mpg around town and just under 70 mpg on the motorway, this is where it gets interesting ! On a recent trip to Glasgow I managed to get out of the car (driving at 56, no sudden increases or decreases in speed except those that were required to stay safe) a massive 82 mpg . The fuel gauge is basically split into 5 sections of 8 litres, the manual requests that you do not click the petrol pump when filling up to "overfill" ...

I have recently bought the 1.4l petrol C3 Desire in Black. If you are buying one from a dealer it is worth checking out the prices for the different colours. At the dealer i went to metalic paint was £100 more!
Thankfully i wanted black from the outset so that was a bonus.
The "Desire" version i opted for comes with a CD player and Air conditioning over the standard model. The power steering, electric windows, central locking and 4 air bags are ... ...on the windscrean wiper wand. Ii have not come across this before, though i dont know if that is in all the models as i was not expecting it in mine!
The seats have adjustable hight and the stearing wheel can be adjusted to suit at a flick of a button. Having a 5"9 length with a lot of that being leg i found that a wonderful innovation over my last car.
The drivers display is a little more space aged than i was used to, a lcd display of MPH rather ...

Took delivery of a new C3 Hdi LX Desire (diesel) in January, no faults on delivery, and 7000 miles later no faults have developed. It's been back to the dealer once for the first service.
It used a little oil until it had coverd 2000 miles but now seems to use none.
The fuel economy is nothing short of amazing, it's fitted with a display on the dash which gives fuel consumption, and that has never dropped below 60mpg. Most of the time it's around ... ...size fuel tank, should have a range of about 600miles.
The performance I've found to be quite good, and better than one would expect from a 1400cc diesel. This little diesel engine is the same one that's fitted in the Fiesta, the Peugeot 206, and the Maxda 2. For some reason it's slighty more economical in the C3, probably down to the tyres which are the Michelin enegy ones. These have a low rolling resitance.
There's a bit too much plastic inside. ...

Advantages: Fuel efficency, Low Tax, Low Insurance Disadvantages: None really, a few squeaks of the trim, rear leg room limited
I'm not buying that, was the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw the car on the Network Q forecourt. I was trading in a Freelander (bought for £15K and trading in for £6K max but that is another story or review when I get around to it) for a smaller car for commuting from Plymouth to Torbay a round trip of 60 miles. The C3 was right at the back and all the comments I had heard about Citroen's popped into my head, But.....
When I looked at ... ...A year has passed and I am happy as anything about my C3.
As standard I get 60 mpg which is a mixture of 60/70 up the A38 and anything from 0 to 60 across to Torbay with stopping for lights, town driving in Totnes, steep hills etc.
My tax is now £35 a year.
My insurance is £147 a year, full NCD.
My fuel bill is less than £100 a month, which with essential user allowance and millage claims is nill.
The car itself is a solid workhorse, the engine ...

Advantages: Low emissions, excellent fuel consumption, features and gadgets Disadvantages: Bouncy ride and relatively noisy ride
MY REASON:
I bought my Citroen C3 for £4900 after a very long research. I had a look at various other cars on the market and decided to buy this C3 ONLY based on economical and envirmental reasons. SAVING ON FUEL:
I live 50 miles away from work and that means that on average I spend around £280 per month on fuel. Driving a car that consumes less diesel (55MPG) my fuel bill drops to around £180 per month. I save £100 per month!!
SAVING ON ROAD ... ...car to my local Citroen dealer and they told me with fitment, it would cost me £490! I was shocked because I thought that this work can not be more than £150. I phoned another citroen dealer to get the part only price. They quoted £400 pound for the alternator only! Sad and disappointed I done a search online and found a good website - electricalcarspares.co.uk - who charged me £100 pound for the alternator including postage. I bought it and with ...

Advantages: Good fuel economy, pretty spacious for a small car Disadvantages: Seat has poor back support
I bought a Citroen C3 HDi Desire and have been pretty pleased with it. I travel aound 60 or 70 miles a day so wanted good fuel economy which I've achieved with around 55mpg.
The car is fairly spacious inside for a relatively small car and has been reliable so far (6 months).
My main gripe is that the seat does not give decent back support. I've therefore bought a lumbar support for £20 which has helped a lot but I think if you're paying £8000+ ... ...only other niggles is that the cheap plastic trim was not attached properly below the steering wheel and also that there is no closable storage within easy reach of the driver. That means that my loose change (for tolls & car parking fees) either has to be on display (thereby attracting thieves) or hidden away from easy reach. ...

Advantages: Superb pulling power, economical, V quiet cruising at 70. Disadvantages: Niggly things really!
Citroen are making a great effort now they know where their niche in the market place is!
My model is the C3 1.4HDi Model 92 Bhp.
Superb engine power 0-60 in 7 or 8 seconds even uphill! Max comfort for a supermini, great looks even when people walk passed next to flashy cars they have to stop and look at it. They have really tried to capture the market with this car. But, just a few niggly things they just didn't quite get right on it. I think ... ...hands you really have to stretch. Also, the sreering wheel is not easy to grip. It does corner very well, except that you think the car is going to roll! Oh and I had a few problems with the computer since I had it repaired it has been O.K Other than these small problems the car is superb all round. Bought 03/2003 ...
