We have had this vehicle for the last year and I have to say I would hate to change my car again. At the time of purchase we were looking for something a lot bigger than our peugeot 306 but still wanted it to be quick. My husband does a very long commute every day so it had to be comfortable but also economical ie a diesel. The Citreon C5 seemed to tick every box, it is a HDi (nippy diesel), it is very spacious inside with enough space in the back ... ...There are airbags all over the place and an alarm for your peace of mind. You get all the little extras such as A/C, 6 CD changer, in depth on-board computer, arm rests in the front and back, sun viser to go over the back window etc etc.. The boot is enormous and you also get loads of miles to the gallon, generally around 47mpg! All of this and we still stayed in our budget. We had looked into Audi's, BMW's, Volkswagen Passat's as we really wanted ...

Advantages: Smooth, Well Built, Economical, Powerful Engine, Load Carrier, Comfortable, Nice Design Disadvantages: Wheel spray on rear window, Rear wiper delay too long
...I would like to see Citroen fix, is the air dynamics around the rear of the car. As soon as it starts raining, the rear wheels kick up a lot of spray which lands on the rear window, and unfortunately, the wipe time of the rear wiper is very slow, you rear visibility is poor in the wet. Funny, because on the Citroen BX it was the opposite. The rear window stayed dry in the rain, so the airflow must have been different.
Anyhow, in summary, I am thoroughly ...

Advantages: Excellent cruiser; Super fuel economy; Powerful engine; Equipment levels Disadvantages: Difficult to keep clean!!
I bought my C5 as a replacement for an ageing 406 HDi. Any car I own has to be an excellent cruiser, comfortable and reliable and (touch wood) the C5 has been all of these. In the 5 months I\'ve owned it, I\'ve covered approx 9000 miles. The only costs I\'ve had are a full service and cambelt when I bought it (I always do this with every car I buy) and 4 wheel alignment (car was scrubbing the front tyres). Apart from this - nothing else.
The equipment ... ...a boon; the c.d. player gives good playback, although the radio reception can be a bit hit and miss at times; the on board computer gives interesting statistics (!); the automatic lights are a boon; automatic wipers are great; the cruise control a God send on long journeys. All in all, it has everything I want and need in a car
Another reason I bought the car was to tow my caravan, and what a tow car!!! Ample power when pulling away and it cruises ...

Advantages: Fast, huge carrying capacity, comfortable long range cruiser Disadvantages: Has a recurring dangerous sensor fault that no one knows how to fix
...year having owned virtually every Citroen to date from 2CV on. My last two vehicles were both Xsara Estates (not Picasso) and I traded up to the bigger C5 in order to tow a caravn and hump more gear to and from France. I went for the 2.2 HDI engine because I found that the 2.0 was far too slow through the gears compared to the Xsara which went like the wind. The 2.2 is quite nippy for such a large vehicle. I particularly like the different suspension ... ...twice at a local independent Citroen servicing centre and costs have been quite high. It seems to go through tyres as in that 20000 miles I have had to purchase 3, each about £60. Overall reliabaility is good but like numerous other 2.2 owners I have suffered, and still suffer from the phantom anti pollution sensor problem ie. the ESP Electronic Stability light comes on indicating a fault and immediately after another light (small engine shape) and ...

...source it was from a Citroen dealer, at £25 a litre plus VAT. The filter requires five litres. It can require this at any time - and it is not recommended that you do this yourself. The dealer charges up to £175 for a refill - if of course that switchs off the light. If not you\'re into investigation - and the price increases accordingly. That aside it is a great car - as long as you are prepared for the servicing costs, it is an excellent all-rounder, but not for those on a limited budget. ...

Advantages: sleek, nice design, luxurious, Disadvantages: very tight leg room in the back
FOR years, Citroen has made estate cars at odds with its main rivals. After the weird and wonderful CX Safari of the '70s, the saggy BX estate in the '80s and the angular XM estate in the '90s, the first Citroen load-lugger of the 21st Century is the most "normal" of the lot. There's a good reason for this. The C5 Estate is intended to sell in far larger numbers than its predecessors. But, aimed at the mass market, it has lost much of the charm of ... ...So the most normal Citroen load-lugger yet is also the best. It's not the most inspiring estate on the market, but the C5 is the most familyorientated. It is practical and comfort-able while loadspace is one of the best in its class. A pity the rear legroom lets it down. ...
