Advantages: huge interior, great performance, clever gadgets Disadvantages: fuel consumption
I have had my Citroen C5 3.0 V6 for two weeks now and it's great. But I don't understand why all the car mags (eg, Top Gear, What Car) rate it as boring, and ugly... I find its looks attractive and distinctive - less brash that the Mondeo, and less eccentric than the Laguna. Its interior is significantly more attractive than the Mondeo I looked at - for me the C5's art nouveau inspired curves are so much more livable-with than the macho metal bits ... ...Mondeo. I am quite spoiled by the C5, as after a test drive in an HD2.2, I went back to order one, to find this 3.0 V6 sitting in the showroom with a huge discount (from £24,000 down to under £18k). This is is because as a top spec (auto, leather seats, sat nav, etc) model, the price was up in the Audi/BMW range and customers weren't prepared to pay so much for a Citroen. So I'm enjoying a huge plush interior, with every gadget you can think of (parking ...

Advantages: Good high speed ride and noise levels, grunty engine, interior space. Disadvantages: Auto box can't make its mind up, crashy low-speed ride.
I've enjoyed my 53 reg 3.0L V6 immensely, when driven sensibly the fuel consumption has been good (high 28-30mpg) and around 26 in town, that is on Shell V-Power petrol - the engine pinks annoyingly with 95 RON fuel. The 24 valve, variable cam-timing V6 engine is pretty grunty and has a reasonable top-end rush, it does use a little oil when thrashed. The car is faster than it feels (or the figures suggest.) many a boy racer has been left floundering ... ...auto gearbox is the weakest aspect of the drivetrain, supposedly adaptive it often selects the wrong gear, either holding on to lower gears too long or resisting a downchange when required - I always switch to manual mode when contemplating overtaking, something I never needed to do in my Jaguar XJ8. The later 6 speed which I've sampled in the (wonderful) C6 is much better.
The ride quality is pretty good at speed but is far too crashy around town ...

Advantages: Cheap, Functional, Powerful, Huge Disadvantages: A little chunky in looks
...also very impressed at how Citroen posted a voucher for £10 off at WHSmith if we agreed to test-drive the car. I requested this information off their website; but did not expect to be paid to test-drive the car!
I was also extremely impressed by the salesmen at the local dealership that I went to; he explained all the features and talked through what they can offer without pushing us further than we wanted to go. That is very refreshing from car ... ...everything you want in your Citroen C5 and receiving a quote for the price.
Although Citroen have never in the past been a very adventurous or popular manufacturer, this seems to be their expression at how they want things to change.
I believe the high value of this vehicle being provided at such a low cost is Citroen’s way of attracting customers; by tempting them with price. Take advantage of this deal - because you won't get this kind ...
