Advantages: Fantastic speed, reliability and performance. Looks good and handles very well.
Disadvantages: Poor service from the dealership. Drinks a lot of fuel.

...have been buying brand new Citroen Saxo's since I brought my first car in 1997. I brought a 1.1i at first, then a 1.4i and about year ago I finally progressed to my dream car, a Saxo 1.6i VTS. I went to my local dealership in Peterborough (where I had brought the first two Saxo's, and where my Dad had brought a total of 5 brand new Citroen's over a period of 7 years). I found the customer service at this branch appalling. I was constantly patronised ...
...incompetent. I wrote to Citroen UK head office to complain. They took 5 weeks to respond and arranged a meeting between the manager of the dealership and myself to discuss my requirements. I noticed a radical change in the attitude of the staff in the dealership, after my complaint and the fact that I had mentioned how many brand new cars my family had brought in the past few years. The rest of the sale went smoothly and I have had my Citroen Saxo ...

I have had my Saxo VTR nearly a year now. I bought it as a wee xmas pressie to myself. I have the new model with the bug eye lights and the 100bhp engine. This means my car does 0-60 in just over 9 secondss Varrrrrrrroooooom The Saxo is a small car but great fun to drive, so if you are looking to travel with people in the back most of the time this is not the car for you. It comes with a CD player, sunroof, Electric windows, rear spoiler, Flared wheel arches, 14” alloy wheels, Side skirts, body coloured bumpers Driver’s airbag power steering Remote central locking and bucket seats. As parkieskywalker mentions these are to keep your passengers firmly in their seats as you fly round corners! The car comes in a wide variety of colours but most of them tend to be ...

VTS accelerates fast and handles great!

Advantages: Acceleration, Handling, Caliper Breaks All Round, Looks, Reliability
Disadvantages: Dealerships, Fuel Consumption, High Insurance, Flimsy Build Quality of Interior

The Citroen Saxo VTS is a great little car. Small and compact but with performance and handling you will miss when you move on from them! I had a Citroen Saxo 1.1i for 2 years, another great little run around, before I upgraded to the Saxo VTS. Although the 1.1i was pokey and responsive for its engine size, the Saxo VTS was a completely different animal compared. I have since had two Saxo VTSs, both from new: a Y reg and a 52 plate. Both VTSs that ...

Real simple! The biggest disadvantage I personally found in my 6 years as a Citroen Saxo owner was the dealerships. Although generally helpful, the dealerships do tend to forget to provide a friendly service post-sale. For example, if there's a minor ...

Citroen Saxo VTS 1.6 16v Citroen is a French car manufacturer that produces amazing rally cars and also general cars for road use some of which are made with the rally versions in mind. French build quality and reliability are often slated but after having 5 French cars they really aren't all that bad, they certainly have character and are very unique. The Saxo VTS has a 1.6 16v (1587 cc) 4 cylinder engine the top model Saxo which produces 120bhp ...

The first thing I did was go out and buy some good sports tyres for her so her handling could be at it's best, after a while of getting used to a slightly different car I couldn't be more impressed with her, ...

Any car produced by Citreon is going to cause you problems, let me tell you. Whether its an image thing or simply the build/ride quality of your machine, Citreon dont cut the mustard. That is of course, apart from the wonderful Saxo VTS. It is a little box of tricks on 4 wheels. It has a 1.8i engine pumping out enough horses to keep the Cheltenham Gold Cup busy for days. The Top speed is booked at 127 but im sure that is more than fast enough for ...
...age of all VTS drivers is about 18. It seems every little rich boy has one as his first car to wrap around the nearest lamp post. Shame really as they are mighty in the right hands (i.e. me!) They look like a Peugeot 106 and drive like a 106. Basically, they are a 106! Remember, Citreon and Peugeot overlap a lot on development and parts due to their parent ownership. The Car is very small with not a lot of room for Luggage, but then again, its a ...

Citreon Saxo VTS

Advantages: Power, lightweight, corners like a dream
Disadvantages: Insurance, Front wheel drive (if you prefer going sideways!)

I love this car, with 120bhp (22mph more than the newer VTR;s) you wouldn't think it would be too much faster or worthwhile buying, but believe me IT IS! The only other car i had before my VTS is, yes, you guessed it, a VTR! As soon as i drove a VTS, i had to buy it because it was just such a power difference. Some specifications are below of the two cars. 1.6 (1587 cc) VTR - SOHC (Single overhead camshaft) 8 valve - 90 bhp - 0-60 in 9.3 seconds ...

The VTS does drink a hell of a lot of petrol (a ...

A sporty little number

Advantages: Handling, sexy looks, ample power
Disadvantages: citreon dealers and servicing

I bought this car in 1998 with the advantage of 2 years free insurance. I am a high mileage user and the car is very expensive to service compared to other manufacturer dealers. Minor services cost around £135 major closer to £200. The VTR handles superbly unlike some people views that have reviewed it as it like a go-cart and bends are a breeze to go through. The car does lack power but for a small hatch this is to be expected for this price. ...
...MPH on my clock but lacks on acceleration. The car is overpriced in this country and the build is cheap and tacky for this 11K price level the 2 years free insurance made the price down to around £8800 once taking that off. Small things like body shell holders tend to come out if driven through puddles allow the body to come to come off and rub against the tyres. The drink holders should only be used if stationary otherwise you will get wet seats ...

Sexy Little Saxo !

Advantages: Performance and Attractive
Disadvantages: Could have slightly better handling

Citroen Saxo VTR This is an elegant car with a sporty look to it as well. It does 0 to 60 mph in 10.4 (secs) reaching a maximum speed of 113.7 mph and a terminal speed of 78.9 mph. The on the road car price is £10,680 which I find very reasonable. It has an insurance group of 7 and the service interval is 12,500 miles. The warranty is 1yr/unltd. You get a driver's airbags in with the price as well of an Immobiliser, 14-inch alloy wheels, power ...
...a sunroof. It also has a five-speed transmission. The only thing that lets the car down is the interior really because it could be a lot better value for money. This car has the performance and looks to go with it and it well worth buying if you like a bit of speed and power. ...

Advantages: Insurance group, looks, price
Disadvantages: Depreciation, under-powered

OK - so whether you're buying a Saxo new or used you're going to get a pretty goo deal. They are affordable little cars with hot hatch credentials. Don't make the same mistake I did though. 2 months after buying the Saxo VTR I drove my mate's VTS ..... needless to say the VTR has felt underpowered since. There's a difference of nearly 30 bhp between the two. Having said that the insurance is a blessing on the VTR, even for a young bloke like me. ...

The popularity of the model will count against it in some people's eyes - I can't leave home without seeing a couple of the roads, but that in itself testifies to the numerous advantages of the car. Buy one? Yes, just don't test drive a VTS! ...

Fastest 1.6 you can buy today

Advantages: Looks the dogs, Quick, Handles and grips the road really well
Disadvantages: Insurance Group 14, Citroen Dealers

I've just bought a 2nd hand VTS, S plate, only 14000 miles, for £6900. Going from a 1.2 Nova to a 1.6i 16v with 120bhp took a bit of getting used to, but I am now having so much fun. The 2nd gear goes on upto 7500rpm, to a speed of 65mph, getting you to 60 in 7.7 secs. This car just loves being driven hard and fast. Take it above 4000rpm in 2nd or 3rd gears the car just errupts. The cornering is amazing compared to the Nova I used to drive. They ...
...to the road with ease. You're in for a bumby ride though as the suspension is on the hard side. It will corner a lot better than most other hot-hatches on the road today. Insurance is the only downer, with it being in group 14. The after-mod market is full of products to improve the VTS. Overall, probably the most fun you can have in a 1.6 (as standard cars go). ...

THE Hot Hatch of today

Advantages: Handling, torquey engine, looks.
Disadvantages: Seating position may not suit all. Although I'm 6'2" with size 11 feet and I don't have a problem!

Stunning looks, torquey motor, superb handling.....these are just a few of what makes the VTR one of the best affordable cars on the road today. 4 years running the best selling hatchback and it is no surprise why. I have had my VTR for just over a year and I would not trade it in for anything! It has cheap insurance (free to over 21s) it is economical and is very nippy for its 90bhp power (98bhp - newer models). It will excel you to 60mph in little ...

One of my favourite cars

Advantages: Makes VTR owners jealous, 0-60 under 7.5 secs, great handling
Disadvantages: Cramped seating, group 14 insurance, thats all

I upgraded my Saxo VTR to a VTS two years ago as I wanted the top of the range model. A supermini with 120HP powered by a 16V engine and 0-60 in 7.5 seconds. Even today it is still the fastest car of its class, quicker than the Peugeot 106 GTI and the new Mini Cooper. It can even hold its own against the Golf GTI and Honda Civic Type R. This is due to the all round disc brakes and lowered suspension combined with very nice 15" alloy wheels and very ...

I have owned several cars through the years from Fiesta XR2's to Peugoet 205 GTI's and I must say that the VTS has been the best car that I have had. It is so versatile in all road situations from nipping to the supermarket, motorways and the occasional rally cross through the open country roads (watch out for the cameras!!) ...

Sexy & Quick - good thing if its a Car - Saxo VTS.

Advantages: fast, good looker, very customisable
Disadvantages: Cost when new (2nd hand ok), Insurance if young, Servicing

Reliability: Hmm, trick one. I have never (touch wood) had any problems so far but I know a fair few people with them and most seem to have problems. Safety: I think this is a grade 2 on the UK safety tests (1 being the worst getting better the higher the number on a likert scale), so isn’t that good in a crash – especially if ur a boyracer its risky. Also (in my opinion) the standard brakes aren’t good enough for the VTS. Mine ...

Spaciousness & Comfort: Well, small cars aren’t exactly able to be renound for space, but all I can say is you wouldn’t fit a fridge in the back, and it’s a tight squeeze if u have 5 average adults in the car. The drivers seat is also a bit cramped and restrictive – especially the pedal spacing. I’m short & a small shoe size so I’m ok but my bloke is larger and struggles. Handling: Not ...

...Peugeot 206 GTI and the Citroen Saxos VTR & VTS. Once i drove the VTS (1.6ltr, 16 valve,120bhp) i fell for it first time. The grin factor after putting the foot down is magic!! Its a total shock for such a small car to be so responsive and did surprise me. You can redline it at 7000rpm all day with such a free reving engine. There is no option of air-con or leather seats which is a downer. There is however a CD player and decent(ish) speakers. The seats are surprisingly comfortable and tend to hug you like racaro sports seats. Road and engine noise can be irratating at high speed over distance. ...

My Experience of the Citroen Saxo VTS

Advantages: A Nippy Litle Runner, Very Customisable for the enthusiast.
Disadvantages: Hmm ... I've had lots of cosmetic problems !

My Citroen Experience began 2 years ago with my first car being the 1.0i Saxo East Coast. This was purchased for me by my parents for my 21st Birthday. An excellent little runner it wasn’t to last... Unfortunately I was involved in an accident and it was written off! From this though came my first Saxo VTS. But From early problems Inc free insurance coverage to parts falling off the service history for my particular car is longer than an oxford dictionary! ...
