Advantages: Practicality, Diesel engine, Huge boot, Driving position Disadvantages: Plasticy interior trim, Wind Noise, Far too easy to speed!!
...X-reg year 2000 2.0 HDi Citroen Xsara Picasso, and I love it, so here goes!
In early 2000 Citroen launched its first mini MPV to rival the popular Renault Scenic and Vauxhall Zafira. At launch it was available with a 1.6 8v or 1.8 petrol engine, or Citroen's 2.0 HDi diesel engine. It rapidly rose through the sales chart to become the highest selling mini MPV in the UK, a position it has remained despite new contenders, ever since. In its five years ... ...buying one new from a Citroen dealer there is good news and bad. The bad; soon to be introduced is the new Citroen C4 based mini MPV to replace the Picasso, owing to disagreements with the famous painter's family the new model will not bear the Picasso badge, and is yet to be named. It will look significantly different to the current model, but aims to build on the practicality, style and ultimately success of the current model. The good news; this ...

...Zafira, Renault Grand Scenic, a Citroen Berlingo, a Toyota Avenis and a few more. We had fun! Out of all of these, the only one that I would have gone for other than the Picasso was the Grand Scenic. The main reason for that was it had 6 gears and was SO fast (these are MPV's remember)!
I cannot believe how these other manufacturers sell their cars when there is an option like this out there. When you're forking out £15,000 odd for a car, it's not ... ...This was the best (or a very close second - to the Grand Scenic, but that counted itself out on price) of the bunch by far.
Ours is the 2.0l HDI Exclusive. It has all the toys that we wouldn't have got with most of the others, like Cruise Control, Climate control, electric mirrors etc etc, plus the stuff you would expect - electric windows all around, CD Player and that sort of stuff. There are some little features that I love; an arm rest ...

The ongoing saga of the hired cars goes on and on and on….
The dreadful Vauxhall Zafira went back last Saturday and was replaced by a Xzara Picasso. Initial reactions were that it looked a bit weird but I loaded my stuff into the boot and drove off from the Avis depot.
The only gripe, so I will get it out of the way quickly, is the size of the boot. Cars of this size usually have cavernous boots but I struggled to get all my stuff in.
Driveability
... ...position I found that I had near panoramic vision. The engine 1.9 HDI diesel engine pulls smartly and smoothly, it corners well, has a great turning circle and is very responsive. As with most Citroens it is a doddle to parallel park, particularly with the rear parking sensor.
The brakes are fine but could feel a little more positive. The gears seem to be well spaced. How many times have you been driving in 5th and wanted to go up one more? This ...

I got my Citroen Xsara Picasso SX 2.0HDi three years ago (51 Reg) and I’ve driven over 40,000 miles in it. If anyone told me they were thinking of buying one, it would depend on what type of person they were before I’d say it would be a very good choice. The equipment spec on the SX is very high, diesel economy is very good for a tall car, practicality is superb and it feels so spacious you have remind yourself you are in a small car. But all-round ... ...to the Citroen form, the Picasso's looks are very striking and it’s quite tall too, but somehow it manages to disguise that - until you try reaching the roof when your washing it! However, once you step inside you find out what this car’s all about as a disorientating sense of spaciousness hits you. The interior is well laid out and there are acres of glass to give everyone great views – even small children. The dash mounted gear-stick frees up floor ...

...the lousey service provided by citroen dealers, and citroen UK. The car was subject to a safety recall for a new fuel pump, so I booked it in with the dealers. Upon getting the car back I filled up with fuel and noticed that the fuel now showed only 3/4 tank despite filling it right up. I called the garage and aranged for it to go back in a couple of weeks time. After about 2 weeks my partner had filled the car up and driven straight home leaving ... ...past smoking) I called citroen assist who recovered the car back to the dealer - I also called the dealer to explain what had happened and tell him the car was on the way - his first suggestion was that they were busy so why didnt I try taking it somewhere else. I pointed out that I suspected that the problem was caused by him so he could resolve it. After a few days of hearing nothing I called to be told the car was fixed. After a degree of probing ...

Advantages: Spacious, very comfortable, economical Disadvantages: a bit underpowered
I had a white 2.0HDI turbo diesel Picasso for 15 months back in 2001 and was really impressed with it.
The Picasso is a slightly oddly styled compact MPV based on the Xsara hatchback. Its quite unique in shape and most drivers find that they either love or hate it. The Picasso seats 5 adults comfortably which is not quite as good as many of its competitors that can seat 7.
The interior of the car is large and extremely roomy. There are loads of ... ...vehicle making it ideal if you are using this as a family car. There are large cuby holes located under the rear passangers feet which is a unique and very clever idea. The back of the front seats have fold down tables attached which makes most rear passangers crack jokes that they feel like they are in an aeroplane!
The boot is large and you can also fold down the back seats which opens up a large mini van type space which can be very useful for ...

We bought our 'Pic' in September 2003, when it was 6 months old with 13k on the clock. Since then we have covered an additional 20k miles.
In addition to the usual ABS, passenger / driver airbags etc, the exclusive comes with CD player, climate control, cruise control, trip / fuel computer, panoramic glass electric sunroof and special trim. We have 2 young children, so for the most part the car is the school taxi and as a result only returns around ... ...will return around 47mpg, this using cruise control and holding around 70-75mph on the motorway.
Performance from the 90bhp 4 cylinder diesel engine is a little slow but fine when cruising on carriageways and motorways etc. Comfort and visibility are excellent, I can drive 200 miles non stop with no back ache, only ear ache due to the poor audio system !
Inside, the rear 60/40 seats can be folded down and removed. Full 3 point seatbelts on all ...

Advantages: Loads of space, great for kids Disadvantages: No go, posing days are gone, a/c not good!!!!
Well what can I say, read all these reviews, thought about it - A LOT - then did it, bought a great nearly new, just 10 months old Picasso........... then drove it out of the garage, quite a hot day and the air con was a bit poor, thought ok this is climate control so could be not as good as a/c, but as I drove on and looked at my sons forhead starting to sweat, thought there is something wrong here!!! Took it back up to garage, had to wait an hour ... ...low and behold the compressor was broken, good job it was a hot day when I picked it up, would not have noticed if winter - dont want to think about that, so here I am with a courtesy car, being a Nissan Almera 3 door, soooooo small and my new car not even a week old, in garage.................... well not too impressed so far, will have to wait and see what happens next, thank God its all under warrenty!!!! Oh yeh.......... other than that a good ...
