Advantages: 3 proper rear seats with diagonal belts Disadvantages: Hard to park for me!
...a couple of friends bought Citroen Xsara Picasso's last year, I was mightily impressed by the shape, and the size of the car. We looked into getting one but realistically we couldn't afford a new one and even a used one would stretch our budget. But when my mum and dad gifted us some money, we realised that it could be very affordable and would really help us manage a new one. So my challenge started..... I had to talk the other driver in the house ... ...The basic model is know as the LX. The key equipment in an LX is:

...year was a 51 reg Citroen Picasso SX HDI. After messing about with the figures, Reg Vardy (whose customer service was second to none by the way) managed to get the price down to £6200. With only 41,000 miles on the clock it was absolutely immaculate inside and out. A funky shaped car, this is very different to anything I had owned before. I was a bit nervous at first as it seemed quite big (well compared to the Corsa I had traded in for it it was). ... ...a lot of thought put into it. Everything you need is there at your fingertips. Well done Citroen - no wonder it is the best selling MPV. ...

Advantages: Quite, economical engine; driving position, space Disadvantages: Shape hinders manouvering, wiper can be problematic
I am not the normal Picasso buyer, not having children, but this is much more than a people carrier (although everyone enjoys telling me I must now begin to reproduce...)
I had spent four years driving a small, 1.2-litre petrol-powered city car, but began to need more than it could offer. My requirements were a diesel engine for general economy and long European trips, an upright driving position (too many cars today have you reclined back with ... ...function as a van when needs be. The budget could only be around the £9000 mark.
As well as the Picasso, the shopping list included the Nissans Serena and Tino, Citroën Synergie/Peugeot 806 clones, Renault Scénic (old model) and the Vauxhall Zafira. The Serena's age and length of time out of production counted against it, as did the non-turbo diesel engine. The Zafira is an awful car to sit in - rather than enjoying a commanding driving position ...

...age. I have bought a Citroen Xsara Picasso and I am in love again.
We went to the Citroen garage to have a wee look and I saw the Picasso. I loved the look of it, but being just under 5 feet tall, when I looked in I thought to myself “ I will never be able to drive that” It’s dash board as I call it was risen in the middle of the window and I couldn’t see over it. And lots of surprises and really strange places
My legs are so short, bum too near the ground
But the seat goes up in the Citroen I’ve found

...on a daily basis.
Citroen are having a field day in the car market of late. They've finally dealt with the image and reliability issues of their past and they are producing stylish, well equipped and reliable cars. The Euro's poor performance against the Pound means that they are able to price their product very, very competitively.
The first thing to remember when being critical of the Picasso is that it isn't a £25k car and it would be unfair ... ...there are even reports that Citroen have replaced stolen wheels on production of a crime reference number so they are obviously aware of the problem and hopefully will redesign the carrier in the near future. Speaking with other Picasso owners you will hear the same complaint from most of them. The factory fit speakers are appalling. The sound quality takes you back to the days of Medium Wave radios. Thankfully good quality aftermarket speakers are ...

...is located on the dash, Citroen have been able to dispense with the transmission tunnel which means the floor of the cabin is completely flat. That means that if you sit in the middle of the three rear seats, you don't have to awkwardly straddle the transmission tunnel running down the centre.
The rear seats themselves fold forward or remove completely. Very easy to do, and with them all removed, creates a van-like 2,128 litres of storage space. ... ...costs are very reasonable. A Citroen main dealer service will set you back about £140, insurance rates are low, and I averaged about 39mpg with the 1.6 and am now acheiving 52mpg with the diesel. For the record, my driving is about 75% Motorway/A-roads and 25% in town/country lanes.
The driving experience is not spectacular, but you probably wouldn't expect it to be. If you throw it into corners too quickly, you will probably find your passengers ...

Advantages: Excellent family car, practical. Disadvantages: Not very interesting drive
I originally brought this car for myself after chanig my Audi A4..... what a mistake.....( bare with me i'm not really slagging the car off).. after finding out my wife was pregnant with our daughter i looked at something on the practical side, i didn't want an MPV as i think there a waste of time(yes you have seven seats but no boot space, takes the back seats out and your left with an oversized estate with two two seats stuck in your dining room!!!) ... ...Picasso it was quite a decent looking car big enough for the kids nice high driving position plenty of room.
So i went to my local Citreon dealer and saw the one i ended up buying. It was there forecourt for £5500 its an X reg 2000 model, which i thought from a dealer was a good price it has full service and the rest , so i took it for drive and to be honest it was ok to drive nice seating position nice layout of the controls everything nicely within ...

...we finally settled on the Citroen Picasso. 1 Month on I think we made the right choice and here is why!
The price of the Picasso is incredibly competitive, we picked up a brand new but pre regitered 1.8SX at £2500 off the RRP from our local dealer, actually paid £11500 which was very resonable.

What can I say, I'm getting old, getting our 2 year old into the backseat of our normal sized saloon was getting a pain in the back.
