Advantages: Lovely soft hair, vibrant colour Disadvantages: Packaging not too modern
OK, well I tried Clairol Hydrience thanks to the recommendations & reviews from my fellow Ciao members, and hence I thought I'd post my own findings!
Those who want to read about my last flirtation with red can read my review about L'Oreal Feria...... and bad news, L'Oreal, because when it comes to hair colour, customer service and all-round impressions, Clairol think I'm 'worth' a lot more than you do! To find out why I rate them so highly, please ... ...I can now understand why Clairol plumped for this delicate package, I think the product looks slightly out of date when compared to the Schwarzkopf Live Colour and L'Oreal Feria - a shame, as I feel it is a far superior product.
How easy is it to Use?
-----------------------
I'm no hairdresser, and therefore when I first used the Feria colour a few weeks ago (I'm 36 and hadn't dyed my hair since age 13!!!!) I was quite surprised to note you had ...

Advantages: Goes on with no mess, brill colours Disadvantages: Slightly more expensive compared to others
After dying my hair zillions of times with the same make of dye, a change was in order. The advertising on TV said this product was water based etc...lets give it a try.
Easy to mix and apply. Didn't drip down my face like the usual ones, and splash marks came of easily with a damp face cloth, instead of the usual scrubbing brush for an hour. The colour was impressive, very even and the condition, even before applying the conditioner - which i might ... ...usual plastic rip open "pouches". The colour lasted quite a long time and gave the colour it had on the colour chart supprisingly enough. It didn't pong as much as my usual hair dyes did although it was still a little whiffy, but not enough to make your eyes water. More expensive but worth paying that little bit extra for that more "natural" look! Also funky packaging! Added bonus was not having to bleach the colour off the side of the bathtub after ...

Advantages: Good shade range, Easy to use Disadvantages: Not enough in 1 pack for long hair.
*Time to buy mum a hair colour*
My mums graphite grey roots were showing through again so it was time for me to trundle off down to Superdrug where I was to find a Colour that was gentler on her scalp than the last one I had used. After five minutes of deliberating I chose *Clairol Hydrience* because of the shade range and the fact that apart from being gentle and water based it covered 100% of Grey. I should also mention that it was on offer at ... ...it normally is in stock for about £3.79 or Up to £4.59.
*Which shade*
I used 9.3 which is a very light blonde with Lots of gold in it becuase my mum has very dark skin for an old woman so you must try and avoid ashen shades, there are many different blondes from very light to dark and loads in between!
The reds on the boxes are as bright as any other brand and there are plenty of brunnettes including one black.
*Whats in it Then?*
The product ...

...home products until i used Clairol hydrience. With Clairol hydrience, my hair look natural the blonde tones are even, and not to harsh or brassy. I am very satisfied with the results and will continue to use this product. The most amazing thing is the conditioner they supply, it leaves my hair in such a wonderful condition, I have fine long flyaway hair that tangles easily a nightmare, with this conditioner it is unbelievable, tangle free and shiney, ...

Advantages: Does not drip Disadvantages: Very strong odour
I tried this product because I had been using a permanent dye for ages and I wanted one which would be more gentle on my hair.
I chose a reddish shade to boost the colour of my hair and blend in the grey. The first thing that I noticed about this product was the smell. I suffer from the odd bout of asthman and my chest felt rather tight. I had to open the bathroom window and put the fan on. the dye went on well and did not drip. I left it on for ... ...properly covered.
When it came to rinsing it came off well but I was not impressed by the after-conditioner. It left my hair feeling very sticky and took a great deal of rinsing to remove.
Over the next couple of weeks I noticed quite a bit of colour loss when I rinsed my hair after shampooing and my hair colour started to fade quite quickly too... ...

...However I found that Clairol Hydrience 'Sand Dollar' was perfect for changing my mid to dark brown hair, complete with grey streaks into a lovely light brown shade with dark blonde streaks. The smell was not unpleasant and applying it was a piece of cake. Hairdressers may not approve and it may not work for everyone but it worked for me and gave this greying mousey 40+ a new confidence about my hair and self. ...

Advantages: does the job Disadvantages: expensive and unpleasant smelling
I decided after numerous long visits to the hairdressers to colour my hair enought was enough and I had a go myself I thought I will get the most expensive one to ensure good results so I got hydrience. nothing wrong with it except it did not smell that nice . after several gos I could no longer get the shade I usually use. So I tried a Cheaper hair colour Belle colour to be precise. it was cheaper nicer smelling more readily available and gave a ... ...costs more does not mean it is better. The hydrience was okay and I would use it again if it was cheaper, more shades available and if they improved the smell that lingers afterwards so all in all I would not recommend it to any one when there are cheaper alternatives that do a better job ...

Advantages: Water based, good cover for grey hair and user friendly Disadvantages: May not be on the market for too long. Maybe because it is more expensive than most
I have used Hydrience since it first came on the market. I find it user-friendly and doesn't smell highly like other hair colours. I fear that it may be going off the market as it is often a loss leader in the supermarkets and chemists. This would be a very bad thing. I feel this type of hair colour is better for people's hair and scalps.
I covers my grey hair very well; especially if used with a colour enhancer shampoo in the sunny weather. It ...

Advantages: Easy to use, pleasant-smelling, all round recommended Disadvantages: None
This, along with Clairol Herbal Essences, is my favourite hair colourant. I've been using colours for at least ten years, and have probably tried out just about everything on the market. I bought this because there was a BOGOF - Buy One, Get One Free - offer on it in Boots, and I liked the first one so much I went back and got several more.
It's very easy to use, and is probably the most pleasant-smelling hair colourant I've found. It's water-based, ... ...it *does* last, contrary to what another reviewer has said. All hair colours fade a little during the first few washes, but after that they hold their colour - as does this.
The range of colours in this brand is also impressive, which suits me as I don't tend to stick with the same shade all the time. It's nice to be able to vary my shade a little - not too dramatically - while sticking with a brand I like. ...

Advantages: Smell, ease of use Disadvantages: none
I reguarlly dye my hair, as at only 22 years of age, I already have quite a few grey strands( my hair is dark brown, so they really show).
I was in my local supermarket looking at the reduced bin, when I noticed a couple of packets of Hydrience.
They were for dark hair and the box said that it covers all grey, I had a look at the price and could not beleive my eyes that it was only 10p!!!!!!
I bought 2 boxes as that was all they had for dark hair.
... ...pleasantly surprised, it did not dry my hair out as a lot of hair dyes do and this one did not leave me gasping for breath with stining eyes.
The colour also lasted quite well, I would definatley reccomend this and please anyone else who sees it for 10p, let me know, I would buy a crate of the stuff!!! ...
