Advantages Advantages Reduces dark circles, less puffiness

Disadvantages Disadvantages Well, I suppose nothing can totally eliminate puffiness!

Before I launch into an eloquent and far-reaching review of this product (!) I feel it would be consumer-friendly of me to point out something important at this point: THIS IS NOT A MIRACLE PRODUCT…. For those of you who have not now clicked the Back Browser in disappointment may I reassure you with the following words….BUT IT ALMOST IS. The Clarins Eye Contour Gel is specifically designed to deal with puffiness and dark under-eye circles. There are also some other claims made of this product but really I couldn't mention them with a straight face. Oh, okay then, well apparently this gel also ... more

Advantages Advantages Smooths skin under eye, easy to apply, smells great, sinks into skin well

Disadvantages Disadvantages Does not help with dark circles

I had never really thought about eye gels until quite recently. I always follow quite a strict skin care routine but that was just the simple cleanse, tone and moisturise so when I was talking to my Mum quite recently and it came up that I do not use any kind of eye gel she was quite shocked. After thinking about what she had said I did find myself having a look at eye care treatments in my local branch of Debenhams. My Mum uses a Clarins eye gel and after speaking to a very helpful assistant I ended up with the Clarins Eye contour gel. This was in fact a gel that would reduce the puffiness ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cooling sensation

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive, some of the promises are overrated

I first purchased this eye gel in 2000, after a long-haul flight from Sydney to London. I wasnt interested in a "wrinkle defence" or "anti-wrinkle" eye cream, and I didnt want anything too greasy or heavy as I suffer from combination oily/excema prone skin. I was looking for something cooling, soothing and moisturising, which might help with the dark smudges. The Clarins Eye Contour Gel was suggested by a counter person. Since then I have tried many Clarins products, but this is one of only 2 I have bought twice. I first purchased this with a moisturiser and received a slew of free samples ... more

Advantages Advantages Visible results, reduces dark areas around the eyes, soothes tired eyelids, absorbed quickly

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive to buy and difficult to apply

I am a big fan of Clarins products but find them far too expensive to buy them as often as I would like, they tend to be essential items or bought as treats after a busy month at work. After a hectic time at work where I was working 12 hour days my eyes resembled something from a horror film, they were red, puffy and had deep dark bags underneath making me look something similar to my 70 year old grandma and I knew it was time to try something and Clarins Eye Contour Gel came to my rescue, but it came at a price. £15.99 for a small tube of the gel. When you first use the gel you notice the ... more

Advantages Advantages it really works, lightens bags, tightens the skin around the eye

    Disadvantages Disadvantages expensive

For the record I rarely use lotions that describe themselves as a miracle cure but I personally was drawn to the Eye Contour Gel after a prolonged period of staring at a VDU at work for day after day that resulted in my eyes being sore which in turn led to them looking puffy with comparisons being drawn between me and a Giant Panda much to the merriment of colleagues. I bought my gel for £9.99 which seems steep for such a small tube of the gel but when weighing up price against effect it really is worth its weight in gold as it gently smoothens, reduces the bags in the eyes and generally makes ... more

    Advantages Advantages reduces dark circles

    Disadvantages Disadvantages doesnt reduce puffiness

After reading reviews on Ciao, I decided to try this product out. I have dark circles (not really bad ones, mind) and suffer from some bags under the eye. The product is very light and goes in well and it does have a cooling characteristic which is nice for the small amount of time you are applying it. However, in terms of the claims that the product makes, I'd say that probably they should remove 'puffiness' from the packaging. I noticed no difference as a result of using the product in this respect. I'd recommend a different product (not sure which one though - not found one that really ... more

Advantages Advantages clean and pleasant to use; a tube lasts for ages

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

This has been around for many years and remains one of my favourite Clarins products, and one which I recommend most often. It's a very light, non-greasy and non-sticky gel. It's not for people who need a lot of moisture on the eye area; but if puffiness, dark circles and/or sore eyes are you problem, then this is the product for you. You really only need a tiny bit for it to be effective, but you can pat it on during the day, even over make-up if you're careful, if you work at a computer or something similar and your eyes get tired ... more

Advantages Advantages Reduces puffiness, dark circles

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very expensive for small tube

I first purchased this product in April this year. I find the texture of the gel are very cold and non-greasy ... the good thing about it is once you bought the product, surely it will last you for quite a while. I normally applied it over my eye area during morning & evening, only a small quantity would do the trick. In the high street, shop normally sell it for under £20 for 20ml , BUT you can get it cheaper elsewhere like EBAY auction because you can start bidding it at a low price... remind you there are lots of people out there who want a bargain so once you start bidding, you have to ... more
