    Advantages Advantages it works

Disadvantages Disadvantages initial outlay is pricey

All beauty care manufacturers promote the cleansing regime of: cleanse, tone and moisturize. Having spent years religiously following this regime, I always found that whilst I had the perfect cleanser and moisturizer, the toner part of the regime let me down. They were either too weak and watery and so totally useless or they were like applying paint stripper to my face - not a nice experience I'll add. On my quest to find the perfect toner I've probably tried the lot from the cheapo one's in Boots to the "It costs how much?" on the Elizabeth Arden counter. A year ago I was browsing the ... more

Advantages Advantages tones and tightens pores, nice packaging,

Disadvantages Disadvantages can sting slightly, can be drying, expensive, smell

I recieved this product as an extra christmas present last year along with other clinque products. I asked for this clarifying lotion because i had heard amazing things about it, both on here and from other people i knew... so on to the review! Clinque have a three step care system for the skin, designed to cleanse and remove dirt from the skin, exfoliate and leave the skin smooth whilst tightening the pores and finally to moisturise the skin, leaving it silky soft. The clarifying lotion is actually a toner. A toner is a product deisgned to be used after you wash/clense your skin. Toners are ... more

    Advantages Advantages Tingling fresh feeling

    Disadvantages Disadvantages An awful smell

Toner....hmmmm...do I need this? I'm very much a skincare fanatic, and spend far too much of my salary on the latest creams and gels. I have very dry skin and therefore it's usually spot-free so I pride it as an asset and am very pleased when people remark on my clear skin. I may not have the prettiest face, but I'm gonna make the best of what I've got! ;-) So morning and evening I cleanse and moisturise thoroughly and at regular intervals in a week I will exfoliate and use hydrating masks and oils. However, toner (or Clarifying Lotion as it’s called by the guys and gals at Clinique) is ... more

Advantages Advantages Different types for your skin, cleans very thoroughly

    Disadvantages Disadvantages cost,

I came across Clinique a few years ago in Boots. The counter girls were stopping people and reviewing your face and giving you samples suitable to your skin type. They stopped me and moved a few sliders about on their skin type consulter after asking me a few questions. Bobs your Uncle and I came away with samples for Skin type 2. One of these samples was Clarifying Lotion. The nice counter lady told me that I MUST sweep my face with cotton wool NOT rub when using this. OK, what difference can that make? Clinique say that the Clarifying Lotion is not a toner but an exfoliation lotion. This is ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to use no dryness or flakiness

Disadvantages Disadvantages Price is very high

I have been using this product for 2 years now. I first received it as a christmas gift in the 3 step package. Soap, clarifying lotion and DDML moisturiser. I was really pleased with the product and how for once I was using a product that didnt want to sting the face of you when you applied it. I have tried just about every toner on boots shelf over the years and after a few months I always give up and try another product. I have quite sensitive skin and can be prone to still breaking out in spots and it has never aggrevated my skin at all. The lotion is said to work by using exfoliation ... more

Advantages Advantages Allergy tested, Fragrance free, Some improvements to my skin

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very expensive, Smells like TCP

As brands of skincare products go, you don't get much bigger (or much more prestigious) than Clinique. Established in 1968, these are cosmetics so posh that they have to be sold by scarily immaculate women in clinical white outfits stationed on special counters in Boots and department stores rather than off the shelf like most brands - and they have price tags to match. Anybody who knows me may well be wondering what someone as cheap as me is doing with such top of the range toiletries. How exactly can I afford to indulge in the legendary "3 Step System" that Clinique purvey? The simple answer ... more

Advantages Advantages Clears up my cheek milia, exfoliates really well, diminishes wrinkles

Disadvantages Disadvantages Stings a bit when applied, fairly expensive for most

For years I've had milia on my cheeks, but I didn't know what they were. Since I read that milia only appears around the eye area, I always presumed that I'm just prone to whiteheads. Although they're not really whiteheads since they look like bumps under the skin. They are trapped skin cells. If I tried to squeeze them, I'd make an absolute mess of my skin and they'd then turn into inflamed spots that can be popped. However for the first few days, there would be nothing but clear liquid in them. I was always puzzled by this. And then I came across a forum where someone was talking about their ... more

Advantages Advantages Effectvie against Flakey skin and evens out Skin Tone

Disadvantages Disadvantages If too much is applied it can Sting

The Clinique Clarifying Lotion is another product in the "3-Step" skincare range and this product is "Step 2". The idea is to use this lotion after cleansing your face and before applying moisturiser. The lotion was developed by Clinique's own Dermatologists to help "de-flake" dry skin which in theory will make your moisturiser work better and your skin even smoother. The only area of my face that gets particularly flakey is my nose so this is the area I concentrated on the most. I used a ball of cotton wool to sweep the lotion all over my face, only in moderation though because I found that ... more

Advantages Advantages Cleans and tones your skin to perfection

    Disadvantages Disadvantages very expensive

I have been using the Clinque Clarifying Lotion for just a few weeks and it’s wonderful! I first received a trial size in one of the Clinque bonus packs (if you buy two products at certain times you receive what they call bonus time) and started using it for a few days and couldn’t believe the results! My skin is now clearer, softer, looks healthy and for the first time in many years (am I talking to soon or should I be touching lots of wood?!?!) spot free! I have suffered with spots for more years than I care to remember. Always around my mouth and especially during that dreaded ... more

Advantages Advantages Smooths, exfoliates, removes last traces of make up and dirt

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some strengths can be too harsh

I have written reviews on step 1 and 3 of Clinique's '3 Step System' So I thought it was only fair I wrote one on this, as it is amazing! Once you have washed your face with a liquid soap to suit your skin type, Clinique advise you use the clarifying lotion before applying moisturising lotion or gel. There are 5 types of clarifying lotion. Number 1 - For dry skin. Number 2 - For dry combination skin. Number 3 - For oily skin. Number 4 - For extreamly oily skin. Mild Clarifying lotion - For very dry and sensitive skin. Clinique claim this product 'Sweeps away dead surface skin cells on skin ... more
