It doesn't make any promises about lengthening, thickening, growth encouraging, volumising etc etc, but I have found it to be better than any of those that do make these claims. I believe that you only get what you pay for, and this is certainly true with Cliniques Naturally glossy mascara. I have bought this product 3 times, and have also bought it as a gift for my best friends who also swear by it. Although it is a bit more expensive than I used to pay, the mascara lasts longer in it's tube than others do (the longest it has lasted me is just under a year). ...the larger Boots also stock Clinique products. They do usually have samples of this mascara available, so if you just want to try it first, you can ask for one of the samples which are about 2.2g. I have also seen loads of these samples on ebay! These on their own would probably last quite a while.
