    I first heard of CIS insurance through my parents. My Father was looking for insurance for my mum and stumbled across CIS in the pursuit of the cheapest quote. This was around 10 years ago now but the company at the time was the cheapest. I followed suit when I passed my test - although to keep the cost lower I insured the car in my mum's name (as she was older)…. However the downside to this through insuring with CIS is that the car needs to be registered in the policyholder's name. So my car is now registered under my mum's name!     I have been with the CIS for around 3 years now and have had no problems with the service given. I was shopping around to get a better quote and remembered a friend of the family was an agent for CIS. So I called her up and asked her for a quote. Despite her not being able to give a discount for being a friend there was a 10% joining discount available. I think they still offer this but don’t quote me on that!     A word of warning to all you motorists out there. Do you know just how much your ‘No Claims Bonus’ is worth? Before I go on, if yours is unprotected please stop reading this opinion and go and protect it now!! My Yaris GLS is now insured with CIS (The Co-op) after more ringing round than you can imagine.     I have been with CIS for five years, ever since I started driving, and have never had problems with them before. Their cover is cheap, and very good (cover to drive any other person's vehicle third party only included as standard- even for 18 year olds). There is no extra fee for paying by direct debit. I have recommended them to many of my friends, but I have just changed my insurance to a different company. Why? Read on.     I have had CIS insurance now for 1 year and to be frank they are great, when searching for a motor quote on teh internet last year I tried CIS for a cheap quote. Their Internet site is extremely easy to use and is down to teh point it takes about 10 mins to fill out an online form and then returns a quote, which if you agree to you can request that and Agent calls you for more details. My quotes with every one else where very very high, these offered me 25% introduction discount and a very commpetative rate which I couldn't find anywhere else.     Disadvantages Disadvantages Claims may be a lengthy process.

    After passing my driving test i was bought a car by my parents. First though i had the arduous task of obtaining insurance. After shopping around as always i was given a quote by CIS, which was some £500 pounds cheaper than some of the previous astronomical prices i was quoted, and therefore accepted the quote. I did though opt for third party only cover. So whilst commuting home one night, only 2 months after obtaining cover, a large wagon decided to change lanes as i was overtaking him.     If you wan't to be driven to dementia then this company will do the job. Any attempt to contact them by phone is painful. Firstly there is the long long wait for your call to be transferred from an inane automated system which keeps you on hold on a rip off 0845 number. Then there is the intelligence insulting speel you have to listen to from the operator who must go through every attempt to sell you extras you do not want or need. In the event of you having an accident and making a claim be prepared for the most incompetent level of service imaginable. They fail to carryout even the most ... more

    Last year we were with the Coop for their car insurance. They gave us a good quote, we bank with them, seemed to make sense. The issue we had was when we came to renew. Our quote doubled, for no reason (no claims, no convictions and we'd reached that holy grail of 5 years no claims bonus). When I called them up, they said they'd never received our proof of no claims. After advising them that I'd sent it in at the beginning of the policy and reminded them that they'd never one chased for it or asked for it, I refused point blank to pay them what they considered to be £350 for putting us down to ... more

    Three years ago due to rocketing premium rates I was forced to look else where for one that I could afford and hopefully pay on a monthly basis. After a lot of searching I by chance came across the Co-Op. I was aware that they dealt with buildings and contents insurance, but not motor insurance. I contacted them and within a very short time their representative visited and after a thirty minute conversation was offered a deal that was by far the best I could find at the time.     I have been with Swinton for 7 years but the price is just getting silly so i decided to change. I could not believe the quote CIS gave me (over £100 less than Swinton), I only hope it is worth the money i saved, I will keep you all informed. I only have one other story about CIS and it is not too good as a friend is not getting any help getting money out of CIS after an accident. This is not a real concer i dont think.
