Snake in the Glass
Review of Cobra Indian Beer by proxam

Advantages: Cold and wet
Disadvantages: Cold and wet isn't enough

... Back to the beer... Apparently, Cobra is brewed with a 'unique combination of barley malt, yeast, maize, hops and rice and, very importantly, not as much gas as is often in a lot of other bottles of lager-beers.' Hmm, it's gonna be a dry beer without any water. Maybe they should skip the maize and rice (which have no business being included anyway) instead. Cobra pours a standard lager-yellow colour which is crystal-clear and topped by ... Read review

The Pride of Bangalore
Review of Cobra Indian Beer by ashford

Advantages: Smooth. Quite Strong
Disadvantages: Not so widely available.Costly in Indian Restaurants

...famous for making fine beers. Cobra beer is brewed and bottled by Mysore Breweries Limited of Bangalore and this lager I believe is also brewed in the UK as well. The brewers claim that Cobra Indian lager is the biggest selling imported Indian lager in the UK.It is certainly fairly widely available in many Indian restaurants and is stocked in neighbourhood Asian-owned and operated convenience stores. It is also available in Waitrose and Tesco ... Read review

Review of Cobra Indian Beer by JeffreyB

Advantages: 660 ml bottle 5% Alc by vol
Disadvantages: Only 5% Alc by vol

...in the European Union for Cobra Beer Ltd, London SW6. They have a website at www.cobrabeer.com Instructions are at least 2 European languages. ***THE EXPERIENCE*** The taste experience is sold as clean and smooth, a less gassy beer. THE TRUTH: I started my 1st glass at 4.10 pm just before my evening meal, the beer pours well not too much of a head. The beer has the aroma of home brew with a pale amber colour rather like lager with a lot ... Read review

Review of Cobra Indian Beer by Niesmiertelny

Advantages: A perfect compliment to any stongly flavoured food food
Disadvantages: Just watch if your driving its premium lager but if you aren't driving ENJOY!

...some of the history of Cobra beer. More can be found at a beautifully simple to use site: www.cobrabeer.com Then he said "You know if it were to be started in this area in draught I'm sure it would be taken up by nearly all the Indians." Within a few months a local company had started to supply the draught cobra. Unbelieveable! Have you tried it? When you do you will be spoilt for life! How can I describe it? Ok, I'll try. The bottled ... Read review

the' jewel in the crown'? more a 'gem in a bottle'
Review of Cobra Indian Beer by coppinpr

Advantages: goes well with any food, low gas level
Disadvantages: stear clear of the draft version

...Still (i believe) familly run Cobra beer has had an astounding rise to fame. Brewed with an unusual blend of grain and malt and with a lot less gas than similer beers it was designed to go well with Indian food and for a long time was only available in Indian resturents. About 10 years ago it had all but ousted Kingfisher and the other Indian restarunt beers when the owner made a huge mistake while being interviewed for in the curry restaurent ... Read review

Fangs ain't what they used to be
Review of Cobra Indian Beer by pinkmatchstick

Advantages: it's cheap
Disadvantages: it tastes crap

...a go. Originally from Bangalore, Cobra is now brewed by Charles Wells in Bedford. They made a real mess of Red Stripe and now they've done the same with Cobra, which before being brewed over here, was I remember quite nice. But not any more. This is your standard 5.0% ABV premium lager, and they give it the big "not so gassy as premium lagers" angle. Well excuse me but the gassiness of lager is what makes it for me, this stuff is totally lifeless ... Read review

Extra Smooth Cobra
Review of Cobra Indian Beer by CarlMcQ

Advantages: Delicious
Disadvantages: Not the most widely available however

...in Bangalore, India, the award-winning Cobra beer is a beer that, for some reason, goes fairly unnoticed outside of the standard-par Indian restaurant. It's taste is clean and very smooth, which is what I enjoy, not any of this American weak malarkey! Cobra's certainly ideal when your wolfing down a rather hot curry and suddenly need a refresher. According to the bottle, it is 'double filtered' for it's extra smooth taste, and extra smooth is ... Read review

This is an excellent brew
Review of Cobra Indian Beer by peterpan

Advantages: Tastes good, and does the job
Disadvantages: Never can drink enough

I am a beer lover and have drank many, many beer's in large quantities. This was discovered first by me when I went to an Indian restaurant. I decided to try an Indian beer and as I had already tried Kingfisher and loved it, I thought I would give this a try too. It has a clear distinctive flavour, but not too strong like pils. I liked it so much I went to tesco the next day to see if they had it, and on finding out they did, bought a whole crate ... Read review

Review of Cobra Indian Beer by christophe81

Advantages: Nice taste
Disadvantages: None

...choice of Cobra, Cobra, or Cobra because they loved it so much!! Cobra beer was actually created in Fulham, Uk, not a lot of people know that - he was an Cambridge graduate! Although Indian, he had a strong British upbringing, and trying to get the world to believ in his beer was a task that he obviously eventually achieved, delivering from the back of his Citroen 2CV of all cars! Cobra's turnover is over 12.5 million pounds, and is hoped to ... Read review
