    Advantages Advantages Looks good?!?!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Tastes disgusting, whats the benefits of herbs???

With only one other opinion so far on this toothpaste, I felt it was my duty to write another! It is currently on offer in Boots at £1.16 for a 100ml tube (usually about £1.60 I think) so I thought I'd snap some up. I was attracted by the herbal factor, being a clean living healthy kind of girl! It clearly states on the packaging that it has chamomile, sage, myrrh and eucalyptus as its main 'herbal' ingredients. I'm not sure what the main benefits of having these herbs flavouring a toothpaste are but I suppose they are added to offer a different flavour? (so you may as well stick to mint if ... more

Advantages Advantages Sensitive on your teeth

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No whitening

Now I know from some of my previous reviews it seems that I'm allergic to 9/10 things. This time it was not me but the future mother in-law (stifles the thought of the mother in law jokes) has sensitive gums and breaks out in sores when using certain toothpastes (and a rash with the rest). She was told from her friendly dentist (Q - are any dentist friendly? A – Only when you’re paying the bill) that Colgate herbal would not agitate her mouth as much and she should try it. Now like mother like daughter, because mother had it, Jilly had to have it (I can still hear her screaming I ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages see opinion

Well after reading the ops on this toothpaste I just had to write this as most of the people hated the taste of this toothpaste. You see I disagree with this after all it is only toothpaste and it may have a different taste to the normal minty ones but I actually prefer the Herbal one now. It took me a couple of days to get used to the taste but of course once you buy something you have to finish it, especially when its my house and toothpaste isn't really that cheap. I think the taste of this toothpaste is similar to aniseed, which I like. I thought my husband liked it too as he wasn't ... more

Advantages Advantages Gets your teeth clean, like all the rest

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Tastes very medicinal

I bought this toothpaste as a change from my usual, which is usually whatever's the cheapest (my attitude to toothpaste is it's basically all the same, the fact that you brush your teeth, and the way you brush your teeth are the most important factors). I think I was enticed by the use of the word "herbal" and the thought that this toothpaste might contain more natural ingredients than the rest. Also, it sounded as though it might taste quite good. It contains myhrr, eucalyptus, camomile, and sage. Apart from these ingredients, I would say that it's no different from your usual Colgate ... more

Advantages Advantages pleasant taste if you like that sort of thing

    Disadvantages Disadvantages quite expensive

Long-term readers of my opinions (if such people exist) will know that I pride myself in being a rational consumer and lacking in brand loyalty. I couldn’t help myself with this product when it arrived on our scenes! Most shops were offering a trial price of about £1.10 compared its normal retail price of £1.60. This represents an approximate 30% saving and that seems a good deal to me. On top of the price aspect I have to admit I was attracted to this product by the herbal nature of this toothpaste. We are constantly moving towards accepting that herbal remedies aren’t just old ... more

    Advantages Advantages mint is missing

    Disadvantages Disadvantages far too sweet

I must admit that I tried this toothpaste out of a spirit of peverseness, having read some negative opinions on Ciao. However, I am forever seeking alternatives to the ubiquitous synthetic mint flavours. The ready availability of Colgate Herbal in the local supermarket will potentially spare me the need to take a special bus ride on Saturdays to the nearest health food shop. I actually found the flavour quite zingy, and refreshingly different from the usual mints. However, the toothpaste is way too sweet for my taste. According to the ingredients list, the sweetness is due to sorbitol, which ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Taste - thats all you need to know

Did you see the adverts on TV during the promotional campaign for this new flavour of toothpaste? Colgate herbal toothpaste sank to new depths of cheesiness in the advert, using a male model (with immaculate white teeth of course), in a sailing boot, to ask a cartoon beaver how he keeps his teeth strong, white and healthy! The idea behind it being that this new brand from Colgate uses natural ingredients – hence the herbal! Well anyway, this concept must have got logged in my little brain as a few days after I saw the adverts I was in the local supermarket and there it was on offer an ... more

    Advantages Advantages Full of goodness

Disadvantages Disadvantages Takes a while to get used to

You go up to your boyfriend/girlfriend/wife/husband one day and give him/her a kiss and instead of them saying, 'Hey gorgeous, your minty breath is nice and fresh today' They say, 'Hey gorgeous, your herbal breath is nice and fresh today'!!!!!! What do you think, sad I know but HERBAL'S the new thing isn't it! The toothpaste is now out, what do you reckon will be next, my guess is Herbal gum!! What do you think of that!? It's the newest toothpaste on the block and it's either a love it or hate it product from Colgate. The toothpaste originated from the famous 'Beaver' advert! Remember it!? The ... more

    Advantages Advantages Clears catarrh

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not related to herbs of any kind in even the most tenuous of ways

In my never-ending quest for knowledge, I conducted my research in the usual fashion; I bought the product, counted my change and ran home to give my teeth the cleaning they deserved (dirty teeth, naughty teeth, back in your cage). Following that I had a glass of orange and whilst fighting off the nausea, collected my thoughts. Colgate is used by a lot of people, I mean a lot, I didn't get the exact figure but it is something like four in every ten people across the world. I didn't get the exact figures due to the sedative effect of Colgate's website (eurocolgate@colpal.com), which ... more
