Colin McRae: DIRT (PS3)

Well, first of all I do have to state how huge a shock it was to find out that Colin McRae passed away last Saturday (15th September). He was the one who got me interested in rallying in the first place and the world in general will be a little worse off without him. I've never been a fan of driving games. They always did my head in because i couldn't get the hang of it and i could never come first. Even in Grand Theft Auto, on the missions where you had to race, i hated them and avoided them if i could. BUT since i've had my PS3 i've downloaded about 10 different driving game demos (motorstorm, Dirt, F1, Burnout Paradise, Need for speed pro street etc). Out of them all, two appealed most. Untill I played this game I was still a fan of the original PlayStation Colin McRae Rally games, I had never spent that much time on the PS2 CMR games they just didn't keep my attention and draw me in, I kept them saying to myself I would play them again, but I rarely seemed to. This games seems to have gone back to the amount of fun of the early CMR games with arcade racing back not seen since CMR2 (maybe it was in CMR5?) and all sorts of other types of racing, and even some obscure types of off road racing that was probably put in for the sake of fun. ** First off, best wishes to the family of Colin McRae, his untimely death was a shock to everyone. He has done more good for rally driving than anyone else ** This review is based on the full game. I have left at the bottom a quick review i did based on the demo version downloaded before the full game was released, in case anyone wants to read that. I have now played the full game for a fair few hours. Its fair to say this game has had me hooked more than any other i have played so far on the PS3!!
