    As a former employee of Comet I feel that I can do a very fair review on the Comet and the good and bad things about the company as well as what it is like to work there. Comet is an electrical store and the second largest retail electrical store in the UK. There are not just branches in his country but also several other European countries and they are looking to expand towards America in the near future.     My fax machine imploded one Saturday. Luckily I was at home when it happened. I could smell something burning, melting or whatever that smell is when plastic starts emitting little plumes of smoke, then there was a little fizz, a plop and all the lights went out. Well, they would have gone out had it been night time, but it was the middle of the day. But it blew a fuse. First call of action, unplug offending item, then restore electricity in the flat and thank my lucky stars that nothing had a chance to catch fire. Phew, it could have all ended in tears, or worse.     I have decided to finally start writing reviews again, after having yet another run in with Comet. I'd say that was about my fifth this year (separate occasions!). In the past I have bought the following items from Comet, all at very low prices: laptop washing machine vacuum cleaner mini disc player Three out of four of those items have caused me hassle. Below I tell you why. In 2002, before going out to France to study, my parents kindly bought me a laptop.     Well after a long deserved break, I have returned to Ciao to write a new opinion and that being one of a negative nature! Not one to normally moan about things (yeah right) I thought I should bring to your attention the service that the electrical chain Comet provides. In general, they sell somewhat shoddy items, which only tend to last as long as you keep the guarantee. I don't know what it is with me a lasers but they never seem to like me!     Store description: A large electrical store,selling a wide range of household appliances,audio and video equipment.They have nation-wide stores and an online store. The stores are well laid out,with plenty of room to negotiate the isles when it is a family visit.And the goods are displayed well and are easy to loacate. -------------------- Range of goods: Comet stock a good range of items,and each item is stocked in a variety of makes and models to suit just about all budgets and requirements.I don't think there has ever been an appliance I have been unable to find in their stores yet ... more

    Quite a few ops ago, I wrote about the obnoxious staff at a store that will remain nameless (H Samuels) and I sent myself on a mission: To Find the Best Sales Staff in Bedford. And guess what, nope, I still ain’t found it. I’ve read a lot of opinions where it is the sales staff that is letting a store down, and Comet is no exception. ~ The Plan ~ I wanted a DVD player, no more than £200, and since comet were offering three DVD’s with every DVD player they sell it was obviously the obvious choice.     COMET claim these days that they don't have sales, just permanently low prices and state on TV that they price check around 34,000 prices every week (or some silly such figure) and are deemed to be one of the cheapest and best large electrical dealers around - having said all this, with the exception of Currys, alternative choice these days seems to be limited to small local companies who provide the personal touch, but charge the earth, or mainly fly-by-night outfits that literally are here today, gone tomorrow.     Gather round, children, for a tale of such foul deeds your blood will boil. Welcome to Comet! Here's what has got me so worked up: two weeks ago my 85 year old grandpa's TV broke. He's usually a bit impulsive about these things so he rushed off down to his local Comet (well actually it was just the first TV shop he came across) to buy a new one. He wanted a 21 inch Panasonic, since that was what he had before and he liked it.     I am fortunate to have a wonderful husband who can't bear to see his wife suffering the toils of everyday household disasters !
