    Disadvantages Disadvantages crap service, stupid staff, crap service, no replies to complaints, crap service, get the picture?

    First of all, I must apologise this opinion is a little long winded. But PLEASE persevere and you will be rewarded!! It’s hard to believe that such a large and respected retailer can get things so horribly wrong. Their prices are good, and they ‘guarantee’ the best price – even going so far as to putting a board up the front of the shop with other local retailers numbers and encouraging you to call and check the prices. But how can they afford such low, low prices??? I think it must be the quality of personnel they employ. I base this in fact and will now present you ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Customer service is useless, extended warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on

    Comet has some great advertising slogans, but recently they've been giving me a real headache - and I'm not even one of their customers! My daughter is though, and I'm the one having to listen to her frustrations with this company. She has an extended warranty on a cooker that she bought from them about eighteen months ago. Supposedly, if they can't fix something going wrong on it, within 48 hours, they will replace it ... or so the warranty states. Well, my daughter's cooker messed up on the 9th of July. She has two small children - Angelica is 6 and Nicolette is 5 - who have now been living ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages have they ever heard of staff training?

    Two recent examples of how NOT to train your staff. A couple of weeks ago I drove by a comet store and noticed a sign in the window, advertising a 28" wide-screen TV as a manager's special for £229.00. Since we were just looking for a new telly, I thought I'd pop in and have a look at it. I asked one of the sales assistant about the features of this particular TV and got a "I don't know" for an answer. So I asked if I could see somebody else who'd have some info about this telly and the chap went off to get his manager.     I thought long and gard about writing this op as I do not want to be preceived as a vexacious complainer, but I will not accept poor service. So, for all you good readers out there here is my story. A couple of years ago, I bought a tumble drier from Comet, it was an own brand (Blomberg - remember that name!). I did not take out the extended warranty as I believe they are a waste of money. After 13 months it broke down. I contacted the store and a got a very rude brush off.     Recently we decided to change to digital television, not knowing alot about it we went to comet, in wigan.The assistant was very helpful, advising what the best package was. We eventually purchased a new t.v. and video. We had to pay for the delivery, which to day is usual, if people want you to buy their products should delivery be free. Any way we decided when we wanted it, and forgot about setting it up. It was delivered when they said it would be. We rang the store and said in the excitement of getting a new tv etc we had forgot about setting it up, and could they arrange someone to set it ... more

    Buying from Comet online is not a bad experience, but when the item you have purchased goes wrong then Comet become exasperating, infuriating, useless, rude, inept, deceitful, irritating, time wasting, pathetic, and, to use a phrase already coined in an opinion of this company I notice, totally, utterly crap. Don't bother with them, go elsewhere, save your sanity!

    After encountering this scenario several times now, I reckon I know what's going on. On more than one occasion, I've ventured into Comet and decided upon a product, only to be told it's 'out of stock'. In this case, I usually then look at the next expensive and ask if there's any flexibility in the price, (which I believe there should be). However, I've noticed that the products seem to be banded and it's always the highest priced item within a band that is out of stock. Therefore, if you do consider a more expensive product, it's likely to be a lot more expensive. My advice is to hassle for a ... more
