Communication Link is basically a dictionary of all the common signs. It is produced by staff at The Beverley School for Deaf Children and the profit from the sale of the books goes directly to the school. You can purchase it directly from the school, from major bookstores or from Amazon.
It is set out in alphabetical order like a traditional dictionary but, instead of definitions of the words, there are pictures and descriptions ... ...and the descriptions are easy to understand.
The book begins with a short introduction to sign language, which explains a few of the basic rules of grammar in BSL. It also explains the importance of body language in signing.
There is then a section explaining the parts of the hand and basic and shapes used in the dictionary descriptions. This also explains the various ways in which movement of the hands is shown on the following pages.
