My Compaq iPAQ (Model 3760) is slim line and robust and provides truly portable access to most of the features in Outlook, including diary information, contacts, task management and off-line e-mail facilities. You can also read, compose and edit Word and Excel documents when you ar out and about. When you return o your office or workstation you can makeadditions, deletions or amendments to any or all of the above as the iPAQ can automatically synchronise with your home or office desktop. Before deciding to purchase the iPAQ I looked at three main options:- 1)PDA's based upon PalmOS, the palm ... more

Advantages Advantages Features and functions, operational speed, compact

I’ve almost written about every electronic device or appliance that I possess, expect for my PDA, which I got during the first week of this month. I work in the Export business so the company decided to replace my existing Laptop with a newer version. I suggested that we go for the PDA due to its high reviews and compact size. After a lot of deliberations and looking around and reading some of the opinions on this site, I settled for a Compaq iPAQ H3630 Pocket PC. The cost was STG.320.00 which many may find expensive. This pocket PC is amazing. It has 16 MB of ROM, which holds the Win CE ... more

Advantages Advantages Synchronisation with MS Office, very clear screen

Disadvantages Disadvantages Data input too fiddly, difficult to use in a hurry

I’ve owned an iPAQ for three months now and would like to offer some thoughts on it after using it pretty extensively during that period. Some of what I say will be applicable to all PDAs, and some only to the iPAQ. I start the review by describing the iPAQ then offer some thoughts about PDAs in general. The best features of the iPAQ in my view are the screen, and the connectivity. The colour screen is just beautiful. It is very high definition, making sense of the smallest graphical detail, and also coming with six back-light settings, from the lowest powersave dim light, to the ... more

OK – here goes... I have, arrayed in front of me, a Palm V and a Compaq IPAQ 3850. I am crying quietly. Why? Because having been quite content with my Palm V for several years I recently convinced myself that I needed an IPAQ. What a prat. To exacerbate matters, I didn't just settle for a basic unit. Oh no, I had to go the whole hog and get the SatNav jacket and all the full nine yards didn't I? After a brief (and I MEAN brief) honeymoon with the thing I have come to the conclusion that the IPAQ is twice the price, twice the size, twice the weight, twice as bug-ridden and has half the battery ... more

The Compaq IPAQ See my reviews under the PALM III, The PALM IIIc, The Aero, and Jornada for comparisons. I have used my IPAQ now for about six months and I am very impressed. It is fast and easy to use and looks absolutely great, I can do everything that I need to do and more and best of all is the ooooohs and aaaaahhhhs from my very jealous friends ;-)) I have the 3630 but I am looking to upgrade to the 3660 and my man in the know from compaq said there is a new one coming with a massive 340mb capacity and integrated mobile phone. But let us take the features in order and rate them against ... more

"The Compaq Pocket PC 3870" Theres something in there that gives you a clue as to what it is. Can you guess which bit? Yup, thats right, "pocket PC". There have been many PDA's (Personal Digital Assistant) over the last few years that have claimed to be "pocket PC's", but few could really live up to the expectation that the name gives. First off was the Psion series. These had a full "QWERTY" keyboard, a touch sensitive screen, and minimal sound playback. Not a bad effort really, just a shame about the size and weight of the unit. Next to rival this was the Palm Series. There have been many ... more

The reps where I work all have laptop pc's so that they can write letters, e-mail and run a central contact database. They were always complaining that they were too large, took too long to boot-up and were not practical to use when visiting customers. The older PDA's weren't up to doing what was required since they were slow and had limited memory. Times have changed, so my company decided to get them all iPAQ's to run alongside their laptops. I had the pleasure of setting them all up!! You can see from the picture that the device is one of the best looking on the market. It also has a very ... more

I love gadgets! And this is my new favourite! Although I had a few problems finding out how to do things, now I’ve got the hang of it I cannot find fault with the iPAQ. I have a Nokia 6210 mobile phone, which means I can connect to the Internet with my iPAQ at 28.8k. The iPAQ has a copy of Internet Explorer, which means I could use Yahoo the other day in a hotel in Scotland to look for local distilleries to visit. It’s smooth and sleek and fits in my hand well. It’s very fast (but then it would be compared to my old Psion 3!) and the applications are easy to use as they are ... more

Last February, I ditched the Palm V and bought the Compaq iPaq 32Mb. I wanted more memory space and I liked its looks, feel and potential. I have now been using for 6 months and can report the following pros and cons. The iPaq is first of all a substantial investment but at the time was the best around so I took the plunge. The feedback I get from colleagues with Casio and HP Pocket PCs has backed up this opinion so far. It's high resolution colour screen makes using it as a work tool very easy and the Windows layout is familiar and functional. The ActiveSync software allows the user to easily ... more
