    Advantages Advantages They work

Disadvantages Disadvantages Don't work fast enough

Unfortunately, I happen to be one of the 8 out of 10 people who, on occasion suffer from cold sores. The last time I suffered with one, I was on the look out for something good, that would work fast on eliminating the wretched thing from my face. I've always used Zovirax in the past, but on the odd occasion I have tried other things, nothing has ever been any good. The cream/ointment or whatever you choose to use, to rid yourself of the dreaded cold sores, has to be made up of something strong enough to cope with eliminating the horrible mess that decides to plant itself on your face. What ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to use, very effective

Disadvantages Disadvantages Do pull your skin off if you're not careful

I've suffered with cold sores for as long as I can remember. The creams have helped but they've never stopped the sore from developing and then going all horrible and scabby. I also know just how infectious they are and would hate to pass them on to anyone. Which is why, when the first one since the birth of my son, reared its ugly head I became rather worried. As any mother will tell you it's nigh on impossible to prevent your baby from coming into contact with your face, especially when you have to pick them up so much when they're little. My son is currently in the 'flailing about' stage ... more

Advantages Advantages Clears the coldsores quickly

Disadvantages Disadvantages Does not make the coldsore look like it's not there like it claims to do!

For the past 5 years or so i have been suffering from quite nasty, horrible looking coldsores. Cold sores or herpes labialis are liquid filled blisters that erupt around the lips, nose or chin (sound delightful don't they). They are caused by the herpes simplex virus type 1 or in scientific terms HSV-1 and are the most common of the herpes family. Cold sores are triggered by a number of factors such as physical and emotional stress, anxiety, having a fever, cold or flu, exposure to the sun and ultraviolet light, menstruation or hormones. I'd say i get stressed easily to i blame the constant ... more

Advantages Advantages You get a handy mirror

Disadvantages Disadvantages Everything else - They are PANTS!!!!

I suffer from cold sores whenever the seasons change, if I am run down, if I am stressed or just because Mother Nature feels like a laugh! I have spent many a year trying to find the best solution to this unsightly and painful condition. Up until very recently I have been happily using Zovirax cream with great success (if I use it when I feel the tingle, 9 times out of 10 I don't get a cold sore and if I am too late and the blister has appeared, then it cuts down the healing time hugely and they are usually gone within three days) however, as many people find, the cream is a bit messy and you ... more

Advantages Advantages It works and hides it well

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be expensive

Unfortunately I am a cold sore sufferer… I do get the odd attack when I am run down, stressed or when I am coming down with a cold and until Compeed came on the market I was forced to leave my herpes exposed with a mountain of white Zovirax cream on top which inevitably I ended up swallowing anyway! Compeed is a totally innovative product and if you do suffer of cold sores I would definitely suggest you to give it a go! WHAT IS COMPEED? ********** Compeed is a medicated round sticky and transparent patch that goes on your cold sore. It basically contains the same ingredients as Zovirax and by ... more

    Advantages Advantages -

    Disadvantages Disadvantages -

For some reason, this year I;ve started getting cold sores - I've not had one for years, so no idea why they've suddenly started coming back. Most of you probably know that cold sores are caused by the Herpes simplex virus . Usually they begin with a tingling itching sensation, before small fluid filled blisters appear, which then crack and become scabby and sore . They are also very infectious - kissing someone while you or they have a cold sore is not a good idea . Neither is any other intimate contact with the infected area - herpes simplex is , after all, the same herpes that can infect ... more

Advantages Advantages Does most of what they claim. Definitely worth trying. Good value for money if they work for you

Disadvantages Disadvantages Vague Instructions! Larger/different shapes would help. Don't quite hide as claimed.

Compeed Total Care Cold Sore Patches For the small minority of the population who suffer from cold sore symptoms, if my own little theory is correct you’ll probably find yourself in one of two categories: The first being you’ve been lucky enough to find a treatment or combination of treatments which really does the business for you. Feel the tingle, apply the magic potion, outbreak nipped in the bud before the cold sore even gets a chance to show face. Perfect. Good on you, and frankly I’m more than a little jealous. If you’re in my second category however you’ll have tried every remedy out ... more

Advantages Advantages Practical and easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can rip your skin off and also doesn't stay on if contact with water.

I've been a cold sore sufferer since I was a teenager (who know who I kissed then hey) and I tried every potion and medicine from boiling salty water (ouch!!!) to cream and I have to say that it's never been perfect. All the cream I tried on before like Zovirax for example worked to start with but stopped working after a while. My issue with all the creams available was that they never actually stopped the sore from coming out and it really made me self conscious. It might have worked for some other people but never for me. It kinda treated the sore when it was out but not stopped it ... more

Advantages Advantages Numbs Cold Sore pain, Prevents Cold Sore breaking out, Cold Sore is *very* hard to see

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive, Mirror is useless, Incorrect application can be painful, Nightmare on facial hair

All my life I've had to deal with cold sores, and I would always have to use cream, which not only looks hideous, it doesn't do anything for the pain, it just speeds the coldsore up, and ruins any food I try to eat unless I am very careful. When I got a cold sore recently for the first time in a year or so, I got very frustrated, until somebody mentioned that we have Cold Sore Patches now. This got my attention instantly, as it boasted to not only seal the cold sore off and prevent it from breaking out into an ugly, infectious mess, but it wouldn't hurt at all as long as I wear it! Like anyone ... more
