    Like a lot of people, I’m forever trying to do something to keep my motoring costs within reasonable limits, particularly my insurance. My wife and I have a car each, and for reasons that are lost in the annals of driving history, I tax and insure both of them – and there’s me on a pension and she’s still in full time work – bummer! It only struck me the other day, that in a few month’s time, once I’ve paid the mortgage off, my two largest annual bills will be Council Tax and Car Insurance, both of which go up out of all proportion to inflation.     ***WHY NEEDED*** It was that dreaded time of year again. The car insurance was due. And by some unfortunate circumstance the car tax was due too! I had my quote through from my original car insurance company and wasn't happy with the price they were offering. There quote to stay with the same company came to £608 but they had managed to get me a really good deal with someone else for £581.78. ***HOW I FOUND IT*** Needless to say I wasnt happy with either of these so I went to the world wide web to try to find a cheaper quote.     It’s that fun time of year again – car insurance renewal time! And to make things even easier, the tin-pot company that insured me last year neglected to send me a renewal note and very kindly phoned me on the 3rd May to inform me that my insurance was due to run out on the 5th and would I like to renew. I think this was a ploy to panic me into agreeing into renewing with them without searching for a cheaper quote. After venting my frustration at the lack of warning, I found out that their renewal quote was £716. At least this gave me a starting point for my Bank Holiday trawl of insurance ... more

    I'm a bird, I drive a Lotus and I use it for work. All in all a bit of a recipe for disaster if you're looking for cheap insurance. So when THAT time of year came around and my quote was £1,000 or thereabouts I decided that before signing on the line I'd check out the web. I found Confused.com via Google.     I have just used www.confused.com to renew my car insurance for another twelve months, and would like to give my own experiences of it. But I will give a little bit of background information first off, simply in order to clarify as to why I came to use this particular one!     The time had come round to look for Car Insurance Quotes, as we had our renewal info through from our current provider. As usual the prices had gone up from last year, so I decided it was time to shop around again. As I had recently used another site to lower my Gas & Electric Bill, I thought I would give these comparison sites a go. I tried to think of ones that I had seen adverts for, and Confused.Com was the first to spring to mind. Probably because the advert was so annoying, and never made sense.     I have used Confused for 2 years past .... The idea is not new - fill in one form and they submit it electronically to multiple car insurers and then tell you the best quotes. If you like a quotation, then click on the link to continue and Confused earn their pennies. How does it work? ------------------------- You fill in the usual car insurance details to their website form. It is easy to use and reasonably quick.     Shopping around for the cheapest insurance quote has quote to be near the top of the things I hate doing the most. It's such a lengthy process, all those questions asked over and over again, the hours spent on the phone or the internet, only to then be quoted a price 5 times higher than the expensive one you already had!! Confused.com is a great website that does all this hard work for you. Whilst completing your details on thier site can take quite some time, you only need do it the once and they will then contact all the insurance companies on your behalf and obtain the lowest quote.     found the same contents cover same insurers as quoted on renewal notice ,but at half the cost with budget insurence .this proves it pays to check with confused .com to check withmy car insurence is due soon so i know where to go .i was always unsure of these comparisom sits but i am now converted talked to several friends and they have checked this site and found they have been paying too much for services in the past not any more .i will been checking all my service bills and see what i can save etc also i found you dont have to pay for copy of the policy unlike some companys that i know of ... more

    I was watching the TV when this freak jumped on an advert and started screaming "confused.com" and car insurance at me!! At first I ignored the advert like I normally do, however, after a while thinking about it, it seemed not a bad idea at all. I'm sure a lot of you have had to spend AGES ringing up lots of car insurance companies looking for a good quote and so remembering this I decided to give it a go.
