Advantages Advantages QUICK TO SET UP AND QUICK TO PUT AWAY

Disadvantages Disadvantages ONLY FOR TWO PLAYERS

CONNECT 4 Sometimes the simplest of games give the most pleasure and after playing Connect 4 with my children today I thought that I would review it. THE GAME ITSELF The game is made up of red and yellow counters and a simple blue plastic grid. The game is for two players and each player chooses one of the colours. The object of the game is to then slot the counters in the grid (it houses 42 counters as a maximum) at the top (taking turns) and the first player to get four counters in a straight line wins. The line can be horizontal, vertical or diagonal, but the row must be uninterrupted. Of ... more

Advantages Advantages Very playable for the younger generations

Disadvantages Disadvantages A little boring for the older generations

This game has been around for years, and it is still as playable as ever. Kids love it, and I must admit, I will gladly have a go myself from time to time. My partner and I bought it for our two youngest, as having it as a child, I remebered how much I liked it, and we though they would too. Over the years it hasn't changed much. The only difference I have noticed, is there is now a plastic tray to catch the pieces, where as mine never had that. **********************CONTENTS*********** *********** 42 playing pieces, split into two colours. A blue plastic tray, with attached grid ... more

The Connect Four game has been out since the middle of the 1970s. The game is played on a board that has two sides of plastic both with holes cut through and then stuck together around the outside. You stand this board up on a stand that comes with it, The board is open at the top so you can place coloured discs into it. The bottom has a closure fixed to it so that you can shut it when it play and then open it up to get out the discs once the game has finished. The discs that come with the game for you to play with are usually red and yellow. They look a bit like the pieces you use on a ... more

MB Games Connect Four with the amount of rainy days that we have in this country I feel it is an absolute must to have a cupboard full of family games that we can all sit down and play when there is nothing to do. This is far more beneficial for everyone than watching the TV or playing the computer and it is something we all really enjoy doing (although its not very cool in this day and age!) The Connect Four game is one of those classics that I had when I was growing up and so did everyone else you knew. Luckily mum my managed to keep a lot of the toys from when I was younger and this is one ... more

Advantages Advantages Full of fun and skill

Disadvantages Disadvantages Sometimes a bit repetative if you play the same person

Well this has become a classic in its own right. When you pull the wrapper off you can smell the distinct wiff of connect four and then when you attach the pieces of plastic it forms an incredibly simple yet effective game. Connect four is a game of skill and strategy which teaches people the ideas of logic and helps with games lke chess draughts and solitaire. There are two different sets of pieces:yellow and red, they both have the same amount of pieces. You take turns in putting piecies down into a grid. The idea of the game as you might of gathered by now is to get four of your pieces to ... more

Advantages Advantages Keeps kids occupied for hours

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Abit noisy

I bought Connect Four, for my Step-daughter a couple of years ago, and it cost me 4.99 from Woolworths. However, I have seen this game quite recently priced at 2.99 in Wilkinsons, which is a real bargain for so much fun. My Step-daughter aged 10 absolutely loves this game and so does my Boyfriend aged 39, so it is definitly suitable for allsorts of age groups. They can both sit there for hours continuasly playing game after game, in fits of laughter. The Connect Four that I own consists of a blue tray with a vertical blue panel sticking up from the middle of it. The vertical panel has 42 holes ... more

Advantages Advantages Great simple game for all ages

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

After noughts and crosses I suppose that someone had to come up with the idea of Connect Four and a good idea it is too. In both cases you have to line up the required number of symbols either, horizontally, vertically or diagonally. In noughts and crosses it is three symbols and the game is played on paper whilst in Connect Four it is four symbols or coloured disks and the game is played in a special frame. The upright standing frame has 6 columns into which will fit 7 of the provided disks on top of each other end on. Thus with a full column you will see seven coloured circles. 21 of the ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Only for 2 players

“The virtual strategy game”, another classic from MB Games. Connect 4 has been around for over 25 years and remains a firm family favourite. For 2 players, recommended ages of 7 years and above, the concept is simple. You have a blue plastic grid, consisting of 42 holes, laid out as seven columns of six. In addition to that, you have 42 counters, 21 are yellow, and the other 21 are red. The idea is that the players take it in turns to drop their counters into any of the seven slots along the top of the grid in an attempt to get four counters of the same colour in a line. This can ... more

    Advantages Advantages Simple

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Or is it?

A deceptively simple game that is amazingly difficult! And now I have started I’m finding it difficult to explain the ‘board’. It’s basically an upright board with vertical slots into which you drop coloured discs. The object of the game is to get four of your coloured discs in a row – horizontally, diagonally or vertically – hence the name, Connect 4. There are 42 coloured discs in two colours, one colour for each player. Now, in this wonderful, technologically advanced world we live in, you can play Connect 4 on your PC or online. Unless you are beating the pants off everyone you know, I ... more
