Advantages: fun, addictive, pick up and play anywhere! Disadvantages: too easy in places
When I picked up Cooking Mama in Game in Reading, I had absolutely no idea what to expect. The box proclaimed that it was the most unique game ever, and I certainly believe that it lives up to that! In Cooking Mama, you basically prepare a meal in several different stages, getting a mark (fail, good, very good) for each stage and then an overall mark out of 100 and a grade of fail, bronze, silver or gold.
The meals are prepared using the DS touch ... ...a grade at the end. Cooking existing dishes unlocks new ones, and with new dishes come new skills, like making sushi rice and barbequing.
In Combine mode, you can mix two meals from a limited selection of meals from cook mode. Unlocking more meals in cook mode allows for more combinations, however, your work isn't graded, so your grade isn't saved (in cook mode it saves your best grade and displays a gold, silver or bronze medal under each meal).

...a long period of time cooking but then once it was gone it was gone but maybe I should have realised by the low price in comparison to other DS games that this would be the case. The music was also quite repetitive and annoying and if I had a child playing this with the sound on next to me on even a short train ride I would want to throw it on the floor and stamp on it! I was quite excited about this game as i enjoy role playing and simulation game. Advantages: Innovative use of the DS controls Disadvantages: If you're not a fan of cooking, you probably won't like it
Cooking Mama challenges players to use their stylus as a master kitchen tool to cook lots of real world dishes ranging from pepperoni pizza to cabbage meat rolls.
The game makes good and inventive use of the DS stylus and microphone with players use the stylus to chop, slice, pan fry, knead, grate, mash and peel. I'm 20 years old and I bought this game only the other week and I have to say it's very addictive!
When you start the game you get the choice of dishes to cook, ranging from plain boiled rice to things such as steak and fish and allsorts. Advantages: Fun & Addictive Disadvantages: Repetitive For The Older Gamers
Cooking Mama is a brilliant game for any age, however, it can get repetitive for the older gamers after a while.
