3 Stars The Truth Behind the Aerolatte! Review with images 12/05/2012
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Handy to have at the time, comes with batteries bought new, funky & fun versions available.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive price, loses power dependent on use, no battery indicator & eventually rusts.

Way back in 2000 when I first worked as a barista and enjoyed the perks of a freshly brewed coffee with a thick crema, I got into drinking hot milk lattes and at times, cappuccino forms with thick white milk foam, fluff and froth. I was chucking away my daily mugs of tea and swapping them for thick home made coffee freshly prepared from a £15000 machine on the premises where I had just started working. Milk froth from industrial machines always carried a minimum temperature between 130° (54°C) Fahrenheit to 145°F (62°C) maximum and 150°F (65°C) for additional syrup based milk drinks such as ... more

Advantages Advantages Brilliant way to make milkshakes!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't do a proper Cappucino or latte

Sad as it is, I can now only review things that I use in the Restaurant 'cos I don't have a life outside it! This gadget has been used to excess, so its my first victim on my return to Ciao. Incidentally, it also makes a damn fine Christmas present and its on special in so many places (and with so many copies everywhere of equal worth, it'll probably cost you less than £5!) So, why should someone with a traditional milk-frothing coffee machine actually recommend a cheap little gadget like this? Here's why........... Price -------- I can't actually remember how much I paid for my original ... more

Advantages Advantages Froths well. Batteries last ages. Looks good. Easy to use.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Can splash.

I have owned a Aerolatte Milk Frother since Christmas when a friend bought me one because they are aware of my love of coffee and hot chocolate and how I always ask for extra froth when I go to Starbucks. I don't know how much my friend paid for the Aerolatte Milk Frother gadget, but I note it is currently on Amazon (Amazon.co.uk) for £8.89, which I think is a good price for a gadget like this and it is a price that I would be willing to pay. There are different varieties of Aerolatte Milk Frother that are available. The one I have is the Aerolatte Black Milk Frother - and by looking at them I ... more

I was given this Aerolatte milk frother from my sister about a year ago when she had a clear out of some kitchen items that she never used any more. I gave my sister a few items in return so the swap was quite good really as we both got some things we wanted and cleared up some space in the process - which we then promptly filled with the things we got from one another I'm sure! The main reason my sister gave it to me is because she never gets time to use it and then hand wash it afterwards preferring to just toss everything in to her dishwasher and get one of the children to earn their pocket ... more

Advantages Advantages Gets the milk lovely and frothy for coffee or hot chocolate

Disadvantages Disadvantages It's still not Starbucks!

A couple of years ago I had a Baileys gift set that had a Baileys branded milk frother in it, to cut a long story short it was a load of rubbish and didn't make the milk much frothier than if I had just poured it into my coffee straight from the fridge! It went in the bin after about 3 weeks because it just stopped working.... and it didn't work all that good in the first place!!! My mate works in Starbucks and she said she'd been trying to recreate their coffee at home, I mean they sell their own branded packs of coffee so in theory you should be able to get a wicked cup at home.... and yeah ... more

Advantages Advantages Can be used by children and saves the expense of buying a large machine.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

This is another product I bought from QVC. It does work very well. This is a small hand held, battery operated device that turns milk and coffee into thick froth, similar to milkshake. It is very good for making cappuccino’s and lovely thick milkshakes but you do have to buy liquid milkshake flavourings as the powder ones change the properties of the milk, so it won’t froth. It works with skimmed and semi skimmed milk too. Can be used by older children. The only downfall is that, just when you have sat down to work at the computer (for the tenth time), a little voice pipes up ... more

Advantages Advantages Froths milk quickly and efficiently

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

The Aerolatte is one of those products that you think you can do without - until you buy one and wonder how you ever did without it. Priced £14.99, it may not seem that cheap but it is well worth the money and you will get a lot of use out of it. I had seen the Aerolatte milk frother on QVC several times and although I was fascinated by the demonstration, I didn't buy it. Then I went to the Ideal Home Show at Earl's court last year and there was an Aerolatte demonstration going on, on one of the stalls. I stayed and watched it, even more fascinated than when I saw it on QVC. The man who ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to use - no worries about electic cords etc.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

Having just finished a cup of cappuccino coffee which I made using my Aerolatte milk frother, I can heartily endorse this gadget. I saw the Aerolatte being demonstrated on QVC about 5 weeks ago and was most impressed and immediately sent for one. In the past I have found that many gadgets which are demonstrated on T.V. and at Ideal Home Exhibitions look fantastic when they are being used by somebody else but when I have a go they just don't seem to work. So I was understandably sceptical. I need not have worried about the Aerolatte. A child of five could successfully use this little item. My ... more

Advantages Advantages quick & easy, no assembly, batteries last for about 400 whisks, easy to clean

Disadvantages Disadvantages can't think of any

If you are like me, like a cappucinno, but don't want the bother and the fuss of a big coffee machine/hot milk whisk that takes a long time to clean, then the aerolatte is the thing for you. The whole device is 20cm long It is a small, lightweight chrome whisk, that runs on 2xAA batteries. You heat some milk to not quite boiling and put the whisk into the milk so it is covered. Turn on, and in about 30 seconds you have frothed milk. Pour most of the milk into the cup containing the sugar/coffee, just leaving a bit behind, whisk again and spoon onto the top of the cup. I have found that it ... more

Advantages Advantages Speed, Froth density, Easy cleaning

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Battery power, Durability

Without going into the price and standard of cappucino available on the high street these days, it goes without saying that spending around £12-£14 on an Aerolatte must payback within the week if you're a coffee-a-morning person, like me. My best cups of coffee (in the absence of a steamer I can't afford) come from warming milk in a milk pan until just before it starts boiling, turning off the heat, angling the pan and placing the whisk just beneath the surface. If the bubbles produced are too big, you can run the whisk through the foam again, to increase the density of the froth. Where the ... more
