Yum, yum, Mum!!

Advantages: Available in powder or ready made; Satisfies my baby
Disadvantages: Not available in larger cartons

***** Why Cow & Gate? ***** When I first had Ellie, I began by breastfeeding. As she was so little, however (she weighed only 5lbs 14oz), she didn't really take to breastfeeding that well at first and she would only suckle for vey short lengths of time before falling to sleep. My midwife suggested that we complemented the breastfeeding with a little formula milk, to ensure that she was getting sufficient food. I was surprised to find so many choices ...
...to choose: SMA, Farleys, HIPPOrganic, Cow & Gate, Aptimil...... I found it all quite mind boggling. All of the brands claimed to be closer than ever to breast milk and were suitable as either a replacement to breastfeeding or to complement it, but which one was the best?? My husband and I decided to try the 'Cow & Gate' milk. It wasn't the cheapest brand, but it wasn't the most expensive either and it was a brand that we both recognised and trusted. ...

Stuff 'em up good!

Advantages: Thicker, more filling milk, peaceful nights!
Disadvantages: None!

...case with my little one. Cow & Gate Good Night Milk helped me during one such difficult phase I was faced with at around the 6 month stage. After a couple of months of relatively peaceful nights, the baby began waking at night wanting an extra bottle. At the time, he was being well fed in the daytime, and we were happy that he was getting all that he wanted. After speaking to a friend, I was recommended to try using Cow & Gate Good Night Milk for ...
...through his regular teats. Cow & Gate Good Night Milk is a follow-on milk, and is suitable for babies from the age of 6 months. It is a specially formulated thicker milk that is designed to help settle a baby during it's bedtime routine. The milk is different to most follow-on milk, as it contains prebiotics, which are special nutrients that help support a baby's natural immune system. The milk contains extra iron and vitamin D for a follow-on milk, ...

C&G Omneo Comfort - Finally a Good Night's Sleep!

Advantages: Calmed my baby's colic, constipation and sore tummy
Disadvantages: Pricier than other formulas, gives baby a runny/smelly bum

...I started Oliver on Cow and Gate Premium but found that it didn't agree with his tummy and was making him colicky and constipated. Fortunately my partner had seen the Cow and Gate Omneo Comfort when he had bought the last tub of milk and recalled that it had said that it was for babies with sensitive tummies. So I sent him out to buy me a tub and we have been using nothing else since. -- PRODUCT DESCRIPTION -- Cow and Gate Omneo Comfort One is ...

On the back there is a feeding guide (which I have found useless as Oliver is a very hungry baby) which gives you an idea of how much your baby should be taking per feed. Below this there are preparation instructions, which are very simple to follow, and below ...

Cow and Gate Premium First Milk

Advantages: Easy to use, quality brand
Disadvantages: not breastfeeding, is it?

I bought Cow and Gate Baby Milk before I had my daughter as although I wanted to breast feed, I was also aware that I needed a back up - just in case. I picked it out as it is a brand that I recognised, I thought that all baby milks were much of a muchness and Cow and Gate is averagely priced. When I had Lily in March, I had to have an emergency caesarean, so we stayed in hospital for 5 days. For that time I breastfed her and was the only person ...

Green is first Milk up to 6 months Blue is first milk for hungrier babies up to six months Purple is Step up for babies from six months Yellow is Next Steps for babies from 9 months There is also a range called "comfort" designed for easier digestion. I did put Lily on this for a while, but it seemed to cause eczema on her face (it appears after ...

Cow'n'Gate Premium milk

Cow and gate baby milk review

Advantages: Great range
Disadvantages: Should make bigger tubs

...back up. I had bought cow and gate premium Babies first milk. At first I was giving her both breast and bottle. But to give her breast I had to use a breast pump. I had an electric one which worked really well. But because of all the problems I had. I just wasn't making enough milk for her in the end. Her feeding really picked up and she was demanding all the time which really made me happy. So after 3 weeks I gave up and just stuck to formula. ...
...tub. I don't know why Cow and gate appealed to me over the other brands. I think it's because of what it says on the front about it being closer than ever to breast milk. Also because they have such a variety of different milks. Like organic ones and ones for hungrier babies from birth. Which I use now. The prices vary depending on where you buy them. In my local co-op they cost just over £6.00. Cow and gate premium 1- I found this to be a great ...

Omneo Comfort formula

Advantages: Low in lactose, solved baby's colicky problems
Disadvantages: Messier to prepare than other milk, due to packaging

...most helpful site and bought Cow & Gate Omneo Comfort 1 formula after reading some reviews. This is a formula suitable for babies from birth, comes in 900g box containing 2 foil packs and a scoop. Simple to make up with 1 scoop of powder per 30ml of boiled water, but note the water should be fairly hot - only wait 15mins after boiling the kettle. The foil pack's foldover top tends to get in the way of the scoop so you do spill some of the powder. ...
...I also phoned the Cow and Gate Customer Service line and found them extremely helpful and knowledgable, they confirmed the lactose content of Omneo Comfort is only 2.3% compared to other formulas (and breast milk) which can be up to 7%. Things to note: the packaging for Omneo Comfort 1 and 2 (the follow-on milk) is identical so make sure you pick up the right one in the supermarket. I have found it in all large supermarkets OK. Also note they recommend ...

Premium, plus, step up, next steps

Advantages: readily available, easy to use, baby likes it
Disadvantages: smells yukky!

Cow and Gate was the first milk I tried, and its the only milk I've used. I began mixed feeding when my baby was 6 days old, moving to sole bottle feeding at 3 weeks old. I chose cow and gate because it was the milk I'd had as a baby and because (sad as it sounds) I liked the packaging more than any of the other brands. I bought several brands of milk in small cartons to try, cow and gate premium was the first we tried and my baby took to it straight ...
...Why cow and gate? My baby enjoys the taste of this milk, shes gained weight very well on it and is in perfect health. We've never had any problems with excessive posseting, hardly any constipation, and no problems with colic or wind with all 4 of the cow and gate basic milks. The basic milks are not suitable for all babies however, as they are lactose based. Using the cow and gate milks: I started with the premium, a from birth milk (green pack). ...

Cow and gate, not such a good night milk

Advantages: Definatly thicker and filling
Disadvantages: To filling to drink much of

...a 'special' milk. Clever marketing Cow and Gate! So we gave her the new formula, which was definatly thicker than her normal Cow and Gate Follow on milk. Looking at the ingredients it seems it is due to putting rice flakes in the milk, personally I thought we weren't supposed to do that but if they are selling it this way, it must be alright surely? It was thick enough that in her Closer to Nature Tommie Tippee bottles, the teat was to small and ...
...So I thought, this must fill her up much more and it was lovely that it was nice and warm, as we normally give her room temperature bottles. She normally drinks 8 oz before bedtime quite happily, but with this milk she could only drink 5oz. But surely that's because its thicker and she will need less to fill her. So, off she went to bed at her normal time of 7pm and we wont hear a peep until 7 the next morning as its been over the last 5 months thankfully. ...

...happen. We were giving him cow and gate first steps, which costs £5.97 at our local Boots, but we were going through it like it was going out of fashion. I felt like I was constantly feeding, changing, feeding, changing. It was soul-destroying and so frightening to see your tiny newborn mimicking something off The Excorcist. satisfactory milk drink

Advantages: satisfying for baby
Disadvantages: As mentioned on another opinion, sticks to fingers

I have two children and have used the 'Cow and Gate' baby milk on both, still using on the one. I first started my eldest daughter on the 'premium' powder,(green box),but found that she was hungry all the time,it didnt seem to satisfy her needs. So I then started to introduce the 'plus' baby milk,by 'Cow and Gate',this is stage one, and is described on the box as 'first infant milk for hungrier babies from birth onwards'.This she seemed more content ...
...this milk powder. I have found that they both gained sufficient body weight, from drinking this milk. The powder comes in two silver, sealed packets,in a blue box (this is stage one-hungrier babies)and has a scoop to measure out the correct quantity of powder. You can also buy one packet of the baby milk(powder)in a plastic container, which is very handy for when you are out and about with the baby. As far as I can remember I think the single one ...

Disadvantages: None that I can think of yet!

...switched him onto formula (not Cow and Gate). He instantly became constipated and unsettled. Someone recommended the Cow and gate milk as it contains prebiotics - to help aid digestion. Basically what they do for my baby is they give his poop a consistancy similar to breastmilk poop which is softer and easier to pass - a big bonus for a baby who feels much more comfortable. The packaging is well designed and I would never go back to usual the old ...

Cow and gate milk can also be used in cooking and to mix first foods with - I think it makes food look ...

At about two months, she suddenly began to be really colicky and brought up most of her feeds each time. In addition she was serously bunged up with constipation.
