Why is the hardest part of a review the start?
Lets start with how they look.
All the speakers are jet black, The satellite speakers and right/left speakers are all quite small with a height of about 10cm width about 6cm and depth about 8cm. They have the standard mesh which can be removed to leave a bare black surface with an aluminium coloured disk surrounding the speaker.

Most games, films, music etc. seem to play in 5.1 however the amp built into the speakers adapts it to 7.1, even if you only have a 5.1 sound card. I don't really think that these speakers add to the sound quality of having 5.1's just the loudness, the room coverage would probably be the same with 5.1's for example ...

Advantages: Great sound quality, Great volume output, Great value for money Disadvantages: Wired so plenty of cable ties will be needed in certain layout situations.

Bearing in mind I was pretty impressed with the sound on my standard motherboard but as I was wanting the best gaming performance possible I needed to take as much processing power away from my CPU as I could so a sound card would be perfect as it will handle the sound processing (obviously) ...

Advantages: Crystal clear sound, well designed and good looking. Disadvantages: Erm...are there any?
...the old one, including the Creative Inspire T7900 sound system. When I listen to music through my computer I only listen through two of the speakers (left and right) and the subwoofer, as they are quite full on. However, when you connect them to the TV and listen through all seven speakers it delivers a fantastic sound experience and considering they're now under £100, its well worth the money.
The main speakers are small and well designed to fit ... ...room and won't look ridiculous. The subwoofer is relatively small compared to most and will easily look the part in any room. It's just a well designed system overall. The only real setback is the cabling, there is an awful lot of it and if your using the system with your PC, then it can get quite cluttered.
Now, the sound quality. Well, it's just superb. The main speakers are very clear and capable of keeping the sound crisp at high volumes, which ...

...disorient an unsuspecting gamer then Creative must be doing something right! I dodge gunshots for breakfast! Punchy and powerful enough for gaming, but richly detailed and versatile for music and films. These speakers are WELL worth anybody's money as an upgrade, present to a loved one, present to yourself or one of those "accidental" buys you really "didn't" mean to go through with but can't seem to be bothered with sending back! I bought these speakers about a week ago from ebuyer.com for £57 (the OEM version), and am so far very impressed. I used to own a cheap set of 5.1 speakers, so upgrading to 7.1 seemed a good idea. It's useful to note that most films are only 5.1 so not all 7 speakers will get used. These speaks however are very, very good. The sound is crisp and doesn't distort when you turn the volume up, which is quite something given the very low price of these. ... ...took 2 hours to set up with a sound card too - they must've been going very slowly because it's very simple to work out. If you buy the OEM version, all you get is the speakers, but really, it probably makes more sense. The speakers are very loud if you turn them right up, and perform well in games, especially if you have a decent sound card, I recommend one from Creatives Fatlity series. Advantages: Easy to set up, looks nice, external volume control =D Disadvantages: Scarry when taken out of box (so many wires)
The title reflects my first thoughts when I opened the OEM version of the speakers. The OEM version means that they are meant to come with a unbuilt or newly built computer and so arrive with nothing more than a sheet of paper telling you briefly what to do.
However once I had unpacked everything and laid it out on the floor I started to understand.
Total setup took under 2 hours (that included installing the sound card).
When i started up the ... ...was amazing. The best thing is the external volume control which allows you to plug in headphones and add a line in input rather than fiddling around the back of the computer. Also the volume control has its own base control which means if you want to rock the house..you can.
So far i still haven't put the volume control higher than about 10% as it is amazingly loud even then.

great sound,loads of wires,easy instructions,loud,long cable,great for the price,i used for gaming and listeng to music which is great just need to buy a new 7.1 sound card to enjoy the fullness of these speakers,great stylish look with detachable grils,front speker is great and stylish with out gril,can be placed near a monitor which is great to give the full 7.1 sound,there is a head phone scket on the remote which is good now i dnt have to reach ...
