    Disadvantages Disadvantages Some bugs

Apple may not have cornered the home PC market but they seemed to have done well with the market for MP3 players. Their little iPod has done wonders for the company not just in hardware terms but in the form of music, with iTunes being a big success too. It’s little wonder that my Dad refers to my MP3 player as an ‘Apple iPod thing’ despite my reminders that my player is, in fact, not an iPod. Yes I was tempted by an iPod. On a pure superficial side they look lovely and most of the time they work well apart from a few little reported bugs. I was close to getting an iPod Mini but with the ... more

Advantages Advantages Size of Hard Drive and Ease of use

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No Radio

Having researched many of the mp3 players and jukeboxes out there, having tried and tested the mainstream ipod and other smaller mp3 players, i finally settled on this little beauty. The version i finally settled on was the 60GB version which it is claimed using the average can hold 13,333 songs, but remember thats only as long as your bitrate and sample rate are at a particular strength. The player can hold many more or many less depending on the quality of your mp3 tracks. Doubling up as an external USB 2.0 hard drive, this nifty little player sits neatly in the pocket and provides up to 14 ... more

This is my first my first mp3 player and I am very please with this buy and I have no regrets about this product Sound quality: Well what can I say the sound quality on this baby is amazing when I uploaded my first song and listened to it I was blown I could hear every thing from drums fading to the artist whispering lyrics some thing you cant really do with speaker unless you have you music cracked to the max. Ease of use: This has got to be one of the simplest Mp3 players have tried many of my friends have mp3 players and this one is very straightforward. You have you a little wheel thing on ... more

Advantages Advantages Massive storage, Excellent sound quality, Great features

Disadvantages Disadvantages No driverless operation, Controls can be fiddly, No folder support for music

The Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra is an amazing piece of technology. It is currently the largest capacity MP3 jukebox on the market and yet still manages to fit into all but the smallest of pockets. Technology: The Zen Xtra has a huge 60GB hard drive at its heart - that's half the size of my standard computer hard drive so it can easily fit almost anyone's entire music collection onto it. The blurb on the box says 16000 songs, but this is for WMA music, and it's more likely that you'll be using MP3s, which generally take up more space so it's likely you'll get about 10000 songs on it. Also ... more

Advantages Advantages small, looks good, great screen

Disadvantages Disadvantages cannot charge via USB port

I haev recently bought this from Amazon (£250 inc vat and postage!), and I must say, I am really impressed. I looked at ebay and other auction sites to purchase a grey import, but as I would have only saved about £20-30 after carriage, I went for the UK option. I have owned several other MP3 players over the years. In fact I was the first person I know to own a hard disc based player (Creative Jukebox 1 [6Gb]). Unlike other offerings from the likes of Apple, iRiver, Archos, Sony, etc Creative seem to have really listened to the market and its customers. As well as providing something quite ... more

Advantages Advantages Massive storage, easy to use and solid build quality

Disadvantages Disadvantages Headphone jack on early versions can be broken easily

I've had my Zen Xtra for about 3 years now, and so far had no major problems with it. I managed to snap the headphone jack off, which is a common problem with the earlier models but this only cost me around £10 to fix at a local phone shop. The menus and controls are extremely easy to use, and personally I much prefer the roll wheel to the I-pods touch pad. The build quality is excellent, and feels extremely solid (I've managed to drop mine quite a few times and it still works 100% - not that I recommend throwing it on the floor to test this!). The sound quality as with the rest of the Zen is ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Size

At the time of writing, the iPod is taking over the electronics market worldwide. It is, undeniably, a fantastic piece of kit, as it's success shows. But, there is a cheaper alternative, that provides basically the same ease of use, and incredible capacity. The main advantage of the iPod is that it holds a tremendous amount of music, and yet it is still fairly small. The Zen Xtra is, undeniably, large, especially for an MP3 player. Besides this though, it offers exactly the same features as the iPod: a scroll wheel, (which, whilst not as fancy, is equally effective), a simple menu system and ... more

Advantages Advantages cheeper than ipod, LCD screen,

    Disadvantages Disadvantages still expensive

This 40GB model connects to a computer with USB 2.0 which means that you can upload about a song a second. However if your computer only has USB 1.0 then you will get reduced upload speeds. Like i did, to remedy this it is possible to buy a PCI card with 2 or 4 USB 2.0 ports! And it is also Firewire compatable. 40GB is a huge space, considering most MP3's are only a few megabites large! If you can't fill all the space you can also transfer data files from your pc for safe keeping using it a bit like an external hard drive. The LCD display is a fair size, making it far easier to read than some ... more

Advantages Advantages Great for people who can hear!

Disadvantages Disadvantages For those who are hard of hearing or even Deaf this product cannot help one to appreciate music

I do envy people who can listen and enjoy music on the move! As I am a member of the Deaf Community, I cannot enjoy this latest technology - pity - I love going to concerts and enjoy listening to CDs. But, as I am Deaf, though I do enjoy music, I know many people cannot understand how Deaf people can enjoy music. Hmmm I need a 'full on' amplified music hi fi and headphones to enjoy music, . I can really only hear the bass and tenor notes and fully appreciate the vibrations. I'm afraid soprano is very much hit and miss with me. This kind of ipod does not let me have full access. Maybe one day ... more

Advantages Advantages Value for money, large memory

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Large, not stylish

The Rival to the Ipod? Maybe- but probably not. The Creative Zen Xtra boasts a fantastic specification, with its 60GB hardrive and special features. For the average person, looking for an average mp3 player, at an average price, this is absolutely perfect! No other mp3 player of this size could beat it on value for money or performance. But- saying this, if it's style you're looking for, then perhaps it would be best to look elsewhere. I pesonally find this particular mp3 player to be too large (once in a case there is no way that it can fit into any of my pockets) and I don't find it ... more
