Advantages: Compact, Ease of Use, Quality of Sound Disadvantages: None for this type of player
...how the marketing people at Creative Labs describe the Zen Nano Plus: a somewhat breathless statement with a distinctly gratuitous use of the prefix "ultra" in my humble opinion. So let's put marketing babble to one side for a moment and look at the Zen Nano Plus from a more critical point of view.
At the time of writing, the Zen Nano Plus 1GB can be yours for about £90 - less if you shop around. Creative have made a big point of making this available ... ...in a smarmy employee of Creative Labs will start to tell you what a terrific purchase you've made. You'll want to delete this track almost immediately but at least you know it works and at least you know the sound quality seems reasonable.
It's at this stage you'll play about with the volume (just to make sure it works - it does, honest) and the "jog-dial" button. I've never used one of these before but it takes no great mastery. Press it to get ...

The Creative Zen Nano Plus 1 GB White is a small, compact and stylish mp3 player. It is originally available in white, but can be bought in 10 different colours. These colours include the very popular red, green, yellow, blue, black and pink. It measures just over 1 cm in depth (thickness), 6.6 cm in length and 3.4 cm in width making it a very slim mp3 player. It weighs just 34 g, which is virtually nothing and is a very big advantage as it is so ... ...surely not even notice.
Creative say they are giving you 1 GB of internal flash memory, but in actual fact it is under 1 GB. 993 MB of internal memory is provided, which is not a lot less than 1 GB (1024 MB). But with the extra memory you could fit up to 10 extra songs. Some people may say you are not getting what you pay for. But that is not a major issue for most users. With the 993 MB of provided memory you can hold up to 250 songs, largely depending ...

Advantages: it's not an iPod, it's a decent MP3 player Disadvantages: no "hold" option; bundled software is excessive
...my most recent purchase, a Creative Zen Nano (in black). I haven't experienced so much joy in saving up to purchase something since buying a Gameboy almost a year after its release. I've been looking for a replacement MP3 player since selling my typical, Hong Kong 512MB one last year. I've always been against buying an iPod, simply because of its status symbol/fad/fashion trend image, not to mention its overprivileged family on benefits price.
Looking ... ...Creative Zen Nano, but for me its biggest selling point is battery life.
STARTERS
The Creative Zen Nano - or CZN, as I'll refer to it - comes adequately packaged: not excessive, not too little. It was a bit tough to open due to the plastic hook which covers the flap.
The first noticable thing as you open the contents is the USB cable; it connects the CZN to your computer. This makes it a bit awkward to use the CZN as a portable removable drive, ...

After many a year ( well two anyway ) , I decided to get with the times , ditch the portable CD player and move forward with the purchase of an MP3 player .

Don't you hate it when you only get half the story from a retailer? - Argos have seriously undersold this MP3 unit by forgetting to say it records as well!
I was looking for an inexpensive MP3 player for my eldest, as she already had a cheap 256Mb player, I figured that in order to justify a new purchase, something with about a gig was in order - and an FM radio would have been a bonus.
Argos reduced the price of the 1Gb Zen Nano Plus to £49 just ... ...of stock before I discovered this! - no worries - I checked Homebase online (part of the same group of companies) and found that they had them in stock (worth remembering in future), so I ordered a couple.
My PC crashed during the ordering process, and I didn't get a conformation mail to say that my order had been placed, and there was no more stock available - so I ended up buying the Sony NW E-570S (previously reviewed by yours truly).
A couple ...

About a month after I bought my player, the battery cover clip did break, but I got straight on to Creative and they sent me out a replacement part with no hassle at all (fantastic customer service!)

Top of my christmas list last year ws an mp3 player and so I w as pleasantly surprised on christmas day to wake up and find this one in my stocking.
Appearance
It is an attractive mp3 player that has an elegant slimline look to it. It had corners on 3 edges and the top side is curved which makes it comfier when holding it in your hand. As I said Ive had this since Christmas and although I make frequent use of the player in it, I rarely use the radio, as signal reception is poor, and as for the other features, Ive yet to notice them, yet alone use them. Advantages: Easy to use, small, light Disadvantages: More memory would be good
Appearance: The player measures approx 3.3 x 6.5 x 1.3cm making it a very small, sleek-looking player which fits nicely in your pocket. I've had the player for about 4 months now, and I take it most places with me, yet there are still no scratches on it. That's not because I'm particularly careful, just that the player itself is pretty scratchproof (as long as you don't torture it to hell, of course). Transfer: The player supports USB 2.0 and simply ... ...using the line-in, the player also has auto-sync making it much easier to transfer from CDs. You can also use it to store non-music files like photos and word documents onto it. Quite handy if you don't have a flash memory stick. Memory: 256Mb, which apparently ...

Advantages: Very Small and last along time Disadvantages: Too little memory for too high a price
I've had this MP3 player since Augest 2005, so that's 9 months now, and it has served me well. It was the first MP3 player I've had (and still is, not replaced it!) and i'll still have it for some time to come.
When I bought it, it was about £65 in Argos, but the price seems to have halved now, round abouts.
Since it was my first MP3 player, I didn't really know much about them when I first bought it. I was just browsing the MP3 player section ... ...wanted one that was reasonably priced (it was back then) and i picked this, as it also look appealing.
This MP3 player is only 256MB and, at the time of purchase, was very reasonable for the price, although now it would only be worth it if it was atleast a 512MB MP3 player, as times have changed.
Now, with it being only 256MB, you can't fit a lot of songs on, but saying that, this MP3 player can read MP3's and WMA's. So having all MP3's, it can ...

Advantages: Small, good range of features Disadvantages: Instruction manual
There are so many MP3 players out there. Which one to choose? The best place to start is to decide what you are going to use it for. If you want to rip (change your Cd's to MP3 format) all of you collection to your player and be able to store thousands of tracks then a large (20gb) Hard Disk player may be for you. This wasn't what I wanted. I wanted a player that would store 20 - 30 of my 'current' albums. That is plenty for me. Over a 6 month period ... ...one to wear whilst walking/cycling/exercising. This meant that a Flash based one was best for me. Other functions that I fancied were: -Line in recording - I've used this to transfer some old tapes into MP3 format. V. Simple to use. Use 1 lead to connect your old walkman or stereo headphone socket to the MP3 player.
-Voice recording - Only used once or twice - v. useful if you're as forgetful as I am.
-Radio - I live in a city. The reception is ...

I bought this item to use in the gym as I didn't want to be jumping and running around with my ipod. I really didn't expect much of it but it's actually really good and easy to use.
Although I can't say it's replaced my ipod, it does beat it in terms of features. Theres an fm radio and voive recorder which can also be used to record from the fm radio, aswell as this there is a line in feature so that you can record straight from your cd player. ... ...I really like about this is that it plays wma's which ipods don't , wma's take up less space so you can cram more music onto it. Transferring songs to the Nano Plus is really easy as its just a drag and drop system, this is great if ur in a rush and you just want to quickly put some stuff on it.
My one little gripe about this is that this doesnt recharge you have to use a battery and this may be a problem for some of you who will use this a lot. ...

...massive plus point.
The Creative headphones bundled with the unit give superb sound quality and are very comfortable. I've read other reviews stating that they've been disappointed with the comfort and sound quality of the Creative 'phones - all I can say is, don't buy other headphones for your unit until you've given the Creative ones a fair crack of the whip - they're superb.
Build quality of the unit overall is excellent, though the battery ... ...problem for the impatient or heavy-handed. For most though, not a problem.
The one (and only) disappointment for me, is the software bundled with the player. Don't get me wrong, it's quick, accurate and very simple to use. However, on ripping CD tracks to your player, they're automatically placed in alphabetical order. Again, these tracks can be quickly rearranged into the correct running order and takes a minute to do, but still. . . . . It's a ...

I spent hours trying to decide which mp3 player to buy, and considered many of the unbranded clones which are currently available, but for the price and storage capacity I didn't think this little player could be beaten. I have been very pleased with my choice and was glad I went for a well known make having seen the problems others have had with the cheaper ones. The player holds around 10 albums (depending on file size) and the sound quality is ... ...for my ears and would not stay put, so I am using a cheaper pair for now, but the sound is still very good. The player looks nice, although the shiny surface may be easy to scratch - as it is so small, finding a case for it is very difficult.
