Crocus quality and service has gone downhill

AdvantagesRange of products is good

DisadvantagesQuality of plants has gone downhill very badly, and customer service is indifferent

"...loyal and regular customer of Crocus.co.uk for about six years and in the last 12 months or so I've seen it go downhill. It's been incredibly disappointing but on at least three occasions in the last five that I've purchased plants from them, the quality of these plants has been far below even an average standard - and not at all what I would expect from Crocus. Their customer service response to me has also declined each time - they were extremely ..." Read review

Quick review of Crocus.co.uk

"Good website and selection of plants but sadly sometimes very much more expensive than my local garden centre prices. Worst problem is that delivery unbearably slow (pay 2 delivery charges if you want any sort of a chance that the plants will be despatched within two weeks) and customer service non-contactable.

Quick review of Crocus.co.uk

"The service has definately gone down hill! Crocus used to provide excellent & speedy service but my most recent order has gone significantly over the 14 day limit without any communication why. It has been impossible to speak to anyone who can help & they seem to have outsourced their customer service function without the back up systems which allow orders to be checked except by e mail. I asked for the name of the MD in my fourth call to them of the day & half an hour later I've had confirmation of despatch today! Seems a good tactic. Plants are usually very good quality - shame that they don't seem set up to fulfill orders efficiently or deal with concerns.

How does your garden grow? Review with images

AdvantagesWide range, nice site, delivers on time(just)

DisadvantagesPricey p&p for small orders, misleading images

"...garden displays. I stumbled upon Crocus.co.uk pretty much by accident, you see I'm a member of Lightspeed Research which is a survey website where you build up points and exchange them for vouchers etc… I'd built up a nice little amount of points and decided to see what rewards were in my points bracket, one of the sites listed was Crocus.co.uk and after briefly visiting the site to see what plants they had available I traded in some of my points ..." Thank you for shopping at crocus.co.uk Review with images

AdvantagesFast, easy to use, great cusomer service...

DisadvantagesDelivery charge is a bit steep

"Crocus.co.uk was recommended to me by a friend a few years ago, since then I have purchased many plants inc. Grasses, bamboo and climbers, 2 battery powered globe outdoor lights, a large bag of compost and 6 pots in varying size and prices, and found them very reasonable! All of which have arrived within a few days, and have been of sound quality. Living in London it's pretty hard to get hold of these sorts of materials without a car, so I have ..." Read review

Never again

AdvantagesOnline ordering, delivery to your door

DisadvantagesWebsite not updated frequently

"I'd shopped with them once before, and they were okay, so I went back to order 2 climbing plants. After a bit of searching (the website isn't very intuitive) I managed to find the right area, and chose the plants I wanted. Both were showing delivery within 10-15 days. So I placed the order. 2 days later, I noticed that my credit card had been charged and thought, "Great, they'll be arriving soon!" Unfortunately, not. I waited 28 days, ..." Read review

The only place for online gardening advice

AdvantagesAdvice as well as plants and accessories

DisadvantagesThere are no disadvantages

"I came upon crocus.co.uk by chance but now it is firmly in my favourites list and will definately remain there. Crocus has a wide range of gardening products for sale from statues and water features to tools and equipment and it also sells a large variety of plants , some of which are quite difficult to find in your average garden centre or local nursery. The prices are reasonable , I don't think they are particularly cheap but they are no more expensive ..." Best gardening web-site by miles

AdvantagesLoads of colour pics, e-mail plant doctor

DisadvantagesCan't think of any

"I found the Crocus web site about 18 months ago. It's very well organised with clear headings and groups. There is a mass of helpful advice on design, colour theming, container gardening and many, many more subjects - and you can use all this advice without buying a thing! I have the RHS Garden Encyclopedia at home but find I never have to refer to it, I just use Crocus for anything and everything. I've spent approximately £100 with them and the ..." Read review

Never mind Titchmarsh, log on to Crocus

AdvantagesComprehensive, Beautiful, Informative

DisadvantagesYou'll want to shop til you drop

"Gardening has never appealed to me. It was something I swore I’d never do. In fact, when I bought a house a few months ago, I deliberately bought one without that pesky patch of grass surrounded by what I believed were called ‘borders’. However, my house does have a yard – a large one. The yard was scruffy when I moved in. I thought I’d better smarten it up ready for the barbecue season, so I whitewashed the high ..." Read review

a great place for buying plants

Advantagesgreat website design, lots of helpful tips in newsletter

Disadvantagessends a newsletter which for some people is annoying, sometimes forgets items.

"I have bought from crocus.co.uk about three times and I must say that each time they provided excellent service. The first time I bought two large ficus plants for my office and they were delivered by a real gardener who told me exactly how to look after them and where to place them in the office. They are still alive today and that is a year on... Then it was mother's day and I wanted to get my mum some flowers, she lives in Glasgow and I ..." Read review

FROM ALPINES TO WILDFLOWERS -

AdvantagesFast efficient service. Quality plants. Expert advice.

DisadvantagesNone.

"They've got the lot. I couldn't believe the variety of plants on offer from this outstanding website. I've got a bit of an ongoing wish list of plants that I'd like to have, when I looked them up on Crocus they stocked practically all of them! That of course is the problem. If you are a plantaholic you could spend hours on this site just browsing and reading the descriptions of the gorgeous plants. But, that's not all. They have also got a facility ..." Read review

Advantagesexcellent variety of quality plants

Disadvantagesno deliveries to scotland (yet)

"...it's niche market perfectly. Crocus.co.uk is such an example. It offers plants, seeds, garden furniture and tools on it's website, which features a huge amount of free advice. Crocus start you off with weekly offers and specials - and as many of the items on offer need to be sold or planted at certain times of the year, the content of the site is always changing. Currently, they are offering flowers as displayed at the Chelsea flower show, together ..." Read review

Excellent choice and service

AdvantagesEasy to use, strong plants, good prices, personal delivery (depends on area), aftersales service

DisadvantagesNone

"I am very impressed with the crocus website. My parents anniversary was upon me and I decided to look for some plants, this website gave me all the information I needed to choose suitable plants for their garden. I chose plants that were in-stock and completed the order filling in the address and special information to make sure this could be found. There was also an opportunity to add a greeting for the gift delivery. If I had wanted there was a ..." Read review

Definitely Worth A Visit

AdvantagesMany

DisadvantagesNone

"As a complete ameteur gardener who is about to move to a new home with lovely 'beds' I am at present scouring all the gardening magazines and websites I can lay my hands on. Crocus.co.uk bills itself as the UK's biggest gardening web site. Sounded promising. Also the fact that if you don't know your bulb from your elbow the site has plenty to offer sounded just the ticket. THis site looks VERY professional and had a LOT of useful content. The ..."
