What is memory? (skip this part if your not a beginner) ********************************** ************************* Memory, or RAM (Random Access Memory), is a crucial component in any PC. ..which is what you should not do.. be very gentle with RAM - that's memory for the computer to you and me. Update 8/7/02 - Well I decided to upgrade the RAM again in this very same PC that I've had for just over a year now. Of course I chose Crucial again, based on my experiences in July 2001. I have to say the service was totally spot on. Ordered online Thursday PM - Email Sun PM to confirm dispatch - signed for new RAM on Mon AM!! This second time around I purchased another 128MB module for £21.99, replacing my 64MB module, giving me 256MB and a bit more. Onto the original review now ... more

When i purchased my computer about 18 months ago I was assured by the salesman "you will never need more than 64 mb memory" .From a recent trip into pcworld i now see that even their base models come with 128mb and from what i understand you need 128mb if you ever want to upgrade to the windows XP just been released by bill gates`s mob. While i was in pc world I checked out their prices for memory and was amazed that they wanted£40 for an upgrade to 128mb and a massive £90 for a upgrade to 256mb. I remembered a piece in computeractive about crucial.com so i took a look. When you enter the site ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Although low, prices were higer than competition

Having recently purchased a second personal computer to benefit from BT Broadband’s networking option, I realised I would need additional memory, in order for my computer to work competently when downloading files of the internet. My current computers specification is 96MB Ram, and I was looking to upgrade by purchasing an additional 512MB. As I work for a computer software company, I was instantly directed by a few colleagues onto the crucial.com website. *Crucial Technology* Crucial Technology Europe is a division of Micron Semiconductor Products, Inc and was launched by Micron in November ... more

I decided to upgrade my memory as my PC is two years old now and while it's still giving faithful service, I've filled up up with a fair few progams, and this had caused it to slow down. As it came with 64Mb of RAM and most PCs now seem to have at least 128Mb, and I'd read memory was of the easiest and cheapest upgrades, I decided to try upgrading my memory. However I had no idea about these things- I'm reasonably competent at working basic Windows functions but I'd never actually opened up a PC and messed around with inside before, and the prospect of it made me distinctly nervous in case I ... more

Memory is an essential part of any computer system, and yet it seems to me that when people come to upgrading they are scared off by the fact that they need to open up the case and actually bung it in themselves! If this sounds like you then fear not, I used to be the same, but no more after having found Crucial.com/uk. A brief word about memory first. Memory prices are fairly low at the moment, and if your computer is prone to grinding to a halt now and then then you should certainly consider a memory upgrade. It’s a really simple job to do, and with people like Crucial around, you can be ... more

It was just like Christmas day (it's almost Christmas) and for my present I thought I would buy myself some RAM to keep ahead of the times. I intentionally ordered early so that I could get it in time for Christmas as I thought this whole online shopping mumbo jumbo could take some time being Christmas and all. How wrong was I! I ordered on Sunday evening 512MB of PC133 SDMRAM and it came early Tuesday morning by Royal Mail Special Deliver (at no extra cost). At that point it really felt like Christmas morning. This is a definitely THE company to order Memory from as it's ordering process is ... more

***Introduction*** Want to save money and get a quality memory module product. Read on? Recently I upgraded my computer memory from SDRAM to PC2100 DDR RAM and after a little bit of research using google (of course) and talking to a few friends Crucial technology was recommended. In the past I had used EBUYER but this time was not happy with them as they have introduced delivery charges which are not acceptable for small orders, memory sticks don’t weigh much so what is the point of paying 4-5 pounds. ***Who Are They?*** Crucial Technology began life in 1996 and is an international company ... more

It couldn't be easier than at Crucial... If you've got a crosshead screwdriver then you can be assured that you can't go wrong. At Crucial's UK website http://www.crucial.com/uk/ you can search for the type of memory you need by type and it's very quick and simple to order on-line. If you don't know what kind of memory you need (SIMM, DIMM etc) then you can select what kind of computer you have and it will tell you the kinds of memory which will work in it! A very simple idea, but great for those who aren't sure of what will and won't work in their computer. Crucial even guarantee that if they ... more
