    Advantages Advantages lots of stores around, access via the net

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Staff are useless, customer service is worse than useless.

    It is a shame that this is one of the largest electrical retailers in the UK, I wish there were more large stores to chose from- that were nothing to do with the 'dixon house' chain. I think this has made them arrogent- and they seem to think they can hire staff with the intelligence of a wall, matching their concentration and willingness to both help and actually work for their pay. They also think they can take money for a delivery- then not turn up- and not call, and say the lorry broke down...Or take money for an installation and collection- but not actually do either.     Advantages Advantages None whatsoever. Customer Service is a dirty word to Currys staff

    CURRIES - ELECTRICAL STORE: DELIVERY IS THE PITS - their staff are rude, ignorant, and lack courtesy, compassion and clearly aren’t fit for purpose In February 2009 my husband and I purchased a large fridge freezer, washing machine and cooker from Curries in Merthyr Tydfil, spending a considerable amount of money with them. The fridge freezer itself cost us only a few pennies short of £600.00. Delivery was finally arranged and the delivery people duly arrived during the day, on 28th March.     I am sure that most people have heard of Curry's, we're all seen the ads. There always lowering prices and I must admit compared to some other outlets their prices are quite reasonable. Customer Service There is a fine line when you enter a store as to how quickly the Sales staff should approach you, too quickly then they are being pushy for commission or if there too slow then you might leave the store. The Curry's staff does not seem to have this balance. When I have been in it is either all staff keep bothering me or not at all.     I have seen Currys stores on the High Street since the 1970s. It seemed the type of store which you would view from outside but not go in. There were never many customers in the store. In the 1980s it had a reputation for selling electrical goods which were priced above average and were not reliable. Dixons took over Currys and things improved. Currys sells a variety of electrical goods eg fridges, cookers, microwave ovens, videos, mobile phones, toasters and PCs etc. The quality of these products is average but prices are affordable.     I was getting my kitchen decorated and decided to buy a new washing machine and cooker. I purchased the cooker from a different retailer who were perfect from point of contact to instalation of the cooker and will return. Currys on the other hand well they were the exact opposite. It was August 2001 when I went into my local currys to look at washing machines after careful cosideration I decided to purchase a Hotpiont washing machine.     I woke earlier this week to find that my Fridge Freezer had packed in so I had to use my garden as a fridge and freezer (typically the weather is now warming up!) So my hunt for a new fridge freezer begun but it started, in a bigger equally as well known store, found a fridge freezer that met my needs, frost free 4 draw freezer good size fridge £349.00 just before I decided to make the purchase I thought I would nip into Curry's which is situated in the same shopping area.     Curry's has had a pretty bad rap on Ciao. A quick rekkie of the ops shows many with just one or two stars. No doubt they're justified because the writers have had bad experiences with the store, but I'm about to redress the balance somewhat with my own little tale. I've just bought a house and I'm in the process of doing it up and furnishing it. I've been living with the folks with few possessions due to lack of space, so I'm having to buy almost everything.     The worst ever ever ever ever level of customer service i have ever experienced by a store. I am usually a patience person and having worked in retail and customer service give a certain level of tolerance to other retail staff when they are under pressure or do not know the answer, but CURRYS the electrical store should be digusted with what they call an "exceptional service". In October 2008 I purchased a KODAK 10.3 mega pixel digital camera, (that was orginally nearly £200.00) in a special offer of £89.99 (it was even advertised on the telly) in my local currys store.     I recently had the misfortune to need to buy a new freezer. I shopped around and found the best price at my local Currys store. I noticed that they offered 0% finance but this was only on purchases way over what I was going to be paying. As the delivery was extra my partner and I decided t take the freezer away in our car as it would fit easily enough. When we ordered it the assistant told us that they did not keep stock as they had no room and would have to order it and have it delivered direct to us.
